You are so welcome Marlene! It was worth every minute it took to make and you were so lovely in person, not that I was expecting anything else😊! Hope we get to meet again soon!! 🎉
Oh my goodness - major homesickness here 😊 I grew up 30 min drive from Edinburgh and Linlithgow was one of my childhood haunts. I went to school in Edinburgh. I have been living in Sweden since 1979 and haven't been back to Scotland since 2000. I am so envious. Lovely to see you with Vanissia and Jule. An absolutely lovely video, thank you ❤ Sally
Hi Marlene, I am the Vivienne you met outside of twelve triangles on the Friday. So glad you enjoyed Edinburgh!! I've lived in Edinburgh for almost 6 years now and there are so many places still new to me! Thank you for the footage and great intro to everything :)
Don't put it in your stash yet. put it back in clear plastic and freeze again then put it in bright sunlight and heat to make sure eggs don't hatch and reinfest. moth eggs go dormant in cold temperatures. The wool festival looks like fun!
thanks so much for the tip! I‘ll do that 🤞🏼 I didn’t see any moths around this particular batch that I bought but the one skein I brought I immediately put back in the freezer and will frost and take out to lay out on a really hot day again to hope for the best!
What a lovely share of your trip!! I will be cruising in September, and one stop is Edinburgh, so I was pleased to see the 2 shops your talked about. They are on my list.
This is the first video I've seen of yours, and it was lovely! Thank you for sharing your travel stories and experience :) I adore the top you are wearing, it's going in my queue for sure! Excited to see what you talk about next time 🧶
I got DK yarn from New Lanark mill 8 years ago when I knitted the scollay cardigan by Karie Westernann and still wear it now…. Where I live in Scotland we get small ‘field moths’ at this time of year, fortunately I haven’t had any issues with yarn or knits being destroyed by them Thanks for sharing 😊
Thank you for the very nice talk. I really enjoyed the beautiful shots of Edinburgh and nature. Thanks for the yarn sample. They are so gorgeous. I am sending greetings from Brno from the Czech Republic. Jarmila
Loved hearing your experience of the Scottish countryside. There is a saying in Ireland that "when gorse is out of bloom, kissing is out of season", because the bush is almost never not blooming ;)
thank you justine! what a seeet saying! I only realized through this experience how much gorse (ginster in german) we actually have here at home (especially behind my mother in laws house) it’s special how much travel can change your view on things 🥰
thanks for putting this video Marlene, what a trip down memory lane. By the way, Edinburgh is most definitely not that rainy, cold yes, but rain not at all. Happy to hear you got one of those bright blue sky weekends to go to the festival, and you had the chance to go to all the places in your bucket list. Love all your purchases, but Vanissia´s champagne cardigan has to be the most special as well as Jo´s knitting bag 🐮
Incredible video and podcast. Thank you for taking us along with you. Love all the yarns you bought and other goodies. Really an amazing weekend for you.
What an amazing trip! Would you mind if I ask which pattern it is that you are wearing the day that you did the yarn dying? It was a gray pull over so pretty !! Can’t wait to see more festivals!
Tak for et hyggeligt afsnit 🤩 Jeg har lige strikket et dejligt Hoja Scarf fra LeKnit og leder efter det perfekte “terrasse-sjal” til sommeren, så jeg læser lige med i kommentarfeltet🌸😍
I loved your styling section, really admire your style! Thanks so much for the great giveaway. Have wanted to try a NotPerfectLinen piece for a while so this is so great! Love your channel x
Wow! What a trip. I have wanted the visit this city for years. I think you went to some amazing places. Your Peacock tee is lovely. Thank you for all the tips.
Morning Marlene wonder what method you use whilst knitting your projects, back to knitting after 12years,see lots people using continental way,I live about 7miles from New Lanark a beautiful visit👍🏻🏴
Hi Sarah, that’s wonderful that you’ve found your way back to knitting 🧶 I do knit continental style but I learned how to knit english style before that - it’s a very personal decision so my try both and see whatever feels best to you now ☺️ thanks for checking out my podcast!
Ok, in order to kill off wool moths by freezing (including their eggs), the item must be stored at 0F/-19C for a minimum of 72 hours. So that means not 72 hours from when you place it in the freezer, but 72 hours after the item in question reaches the correct temperature. A week is better. Make sure the item is in a sealed bag. The average refrigerator freezer is not set to be cold enough to kill moths. Also, the freezer on your refrigerator is likely “frost free”, which means that it cycles above freezing regularly to avoid having to defrost it yourself. It will NOT kill off moths or their eggs, and there is even some evidence that it might make the eggs hatch once you take it out.
Seconding this. Freezing is not enough to kill any eggs. I’d bag that yarn separated from your other yarn. Keep it isolated. What does dislodge the eggs & remaining larvae is washing, but you’d need to reskein into hanks for that. You can also try heating in the oven on the lowest temp, about 140F. Take the ball band off as that will burn. Good luck!!
thank you both so much for the insights!! really helpful and I’ll try and kind of incorporate it all! for now my one skein that’s with me is in sealed bag in the freezer again (the rest is still on its way from scotland..) I‘ll try the heating method too possibly and or wash it and will definitely keep it away from my other stash! 🤞🏼🙂
@@marleneknitsThe easiest way to heat it is to skein it all up into hanks so it is loose (do this outdoors so any eggs that might fall out aren’t in your home). Once they are all nice and loose, but them into a black, plastic, carpenter’s waste bag and put them in the sun on a really hot day. You want the heat to really penetrate every strand. And you want it in the sun as long as possible. It gets hot enough in the bag to set dye (yes, I have dyed this way in the summer), so it is somewhere around a simmer for temp. If you can have the bag sitting on pavement like a driveway or concrete patio, even better as they will absorb the heat and reflect it back into the bag. If you spritz the yarn before putting it in, the moisture will heat things up even more quickly and it’ll boil the little buggers. You’ll just have to hang the hanks up to dry after.I’d likely do this for multiple days in a row. M*ths scare the bejeebers out of me.
I’m sorry you felt like that! it’s really difficult to find nice and free to use music so I always try and find some that I like and that somehow fits the vibe. I’m currently trying to source some more music from people I know in my private life who play the guitar, but it’s not very easy.
You are so welcome Marlene! It was worth every minute it took to make and you were so lovely in person, not that I was expecting anything else😊! Hope we get to meet again soon!! 🎉
aww you’re too sweet! I hope we get to spent time again in person one day ☺️

I so enjoyed this video!
Oh gawsh, you came to Glasgow too! I was recognising all the cool spots.
I loved our half day in glasgow!! the west end was lovely, will have to come back one day 😍
I had the same mothy experience at new Lanark 3 years ago!
uh no, that’s not good… I hope that my freezing of the yarn has helped prevent a moth infestation 😢

Now I want to freeze all my new yarn haha
right?! if only I had more freezer space… ours is ridiculously small 😅
Oh wow. I would put that yarn in the freezer another week!
I’ll see if I know anyone who has a freezer big enough! 😄 ours is tiny..
@@marleneknits you can also put it in the oven on 75celcius an hour!
So fun you are going to Edinburgh, Bobbles and Berries podcast just mentioned you in her podcast , did you get to see her?
I did get to see her and it was lovely 🥰
Your exploring, travel, dining and knitting video images are really beautiful -- my ears were completely worn out by the background music, though

@@marleneknits Oooh, personal performers, good for you! But I'm only one opinion. On the bright side, your voice and presence are lovely on their own.
