I use to be Steam friends Dondi and played a game called The Hidden with him way back in like 2012, around that time at least. His handle was SentientHorseCocks. I remember hearing about his goal of creating a Dinosaur game even back then. I think he also asked me to check it out way early on. Anyways, he unfriended me some time ago(we stopped talking) and I find it incredibly surreal that he is so infamous but I'm also not surprised. He was a pretty abrasive guy when I knew him.
My only real interaction with him was remarking in surprise that we shared a birthday when he mentioned his. His response was to absolutely BRAY "WISH WE DIDN'T" in the most rude possible voice. I'm not mad about it because... it was probably..? supposed to be humor? But it was just kinda like "okay, dude?"
Bad things I have seen: -the hacking problem -general coding mess (AI) -Dondi -Dondi's behavior -Dondi's relations to gamers -dedicated server lag and rubberbanding -recurring problems with nesting, game data saving, and continuity Good things I have seen: -an entirely new map -new dinos added within weeks of migration to UE (this is a huge one) -migration to UE -A framework set up for realistic weekly goals -increased comms between the devs and the community (thanks Filipe!) -increased pace of major additions. Gateway release was a mess. an unadulterated mess, populated with the bodies of adolescent dinos that starved to death. but, the devs pulled through. they re-worked stamina, rest times, hunger, and AI to match the new demands of the game, without going overboard. they took their time, but they got it (mostly) right once they responded. they listened to the players cries of pain, and did something they hadn't done in ten years: listened. I am holding out hope for this, because despite Dondi, it is a game that has promise, an untapped niche of gamers, and finally, a realistic and attainable vision. I hope I am not proven wrong.
@@seanpellerin5703 yeah. Shitty move that nobody asked for. I understand first person for humans, and maybe even locked camera for the Dinos- but only being able to see the back of your dino's head? Dogshit idea, whoever thought it up should be slapped
an untapped niche of gamers.... Look, years ago i started playing The Isle with a big group of friends, we made more friends while playing the game, today, not a single person plays the isle. And that was Legacy a game almost all computers can play and much more fun to play, Evrima cant run properly on most pcs as you know many players keep playing Legacy because of that. That untapped niche of gamers was already tapped long ago, like in 2015/16
@@spikelee5716 untapped does not mean "previous groups have played" it means there's popular demand for a game like it, with no alternative games that really compare in scope.
Totally agree with you. I’ve logged 1400 hours on this mess and you pretty much nailed all our major problems. It’s a community obsessed with purity tests. I don’t know how they could fix it. It’s such a negative feedback loop. I have found many players that I can chill with on the servers, but it feels like more and more those people are vanishing. The devs have no clue how many people are just waiting to return once they hear that this game is good again…
they can break that negative feedback loop, if they start fixing issues, many of the issues have been around for too long, and i believe it simply pisses people of when they hear about a new shiny thing they working on, while the issues are ignored or at least SEEM to be ignored, but if they would fix things that are broken it would start building our trust in their ability to keep the game healty. in its current state its pretty much a crack baby, i love the game but it is what it is. And this might be my personal bias as its a "passion" project and all that, but i always feel very salty when i notice a new update broke something. And that is because i KNOW its going to stay for like 2 months before its fixed. While some of these fixes could be done in a day (tinkering with values etc), and although i agree i seriously need to touch some grass to get upset over a game's state, there is no denying that their speed is below what people would like to see (and im not talking triple A company speed, just good old regular "normal speed" and not this snail pace)
Return? Never gonna return to this game after they invited a literal groomer onto their team and pretty much refused to look into it at all. That's genuinely how little these developers care about the community. It takes don's pedophile friend on their team for them to realize their players are right.
Dondi is making the isle for himself and himself only. HE wants his open world primal carnage rip-off because he's still salty about being booted from the OG Primal carnage team for being a lazy sack and not doing his job all those years ago.
Playing the isle for an hour: barely growing, getting molested, lag, people either tolerate you or straight up shit on you Playing pot for an hour: can reach adulthood on server, if I die I don't lose an hour of progress, people actually have souls
If u are looking for an arcade experience, The Isle is not for u. If u are looking for a realistic, hard survival experience, the isle. The thing with the people getting killed on sight... i dont know where u play, but i have all kinds of interactions... good and bad. Its like playing day z and crying about someone killing u on sight. And adding to this, there is no privates servers yet, it will be a range of server, from chills one to hardcores ones, but right now its like fckng nature, hard af... u have to have eyes in the back of ur head and only interact with ur same species, and maybe in a wierd scenario, u can interact with another species in a friendly way, then u need to add to this if they both are carnivore, or one is herbivore, or both are herbs...diferent scenarios that end diferentlly.
@asiergonzalez4060 its fun for me 😁 if u want a more frienly dino game, u already have other options, or what u want?? 3 or 4 Dino games that are all the same?
I brought up a point saying that the typical person on Steam shouldn't be EXPECTED to join a game's Discord or look up information just to play said game properly. In response, I got @'d with ??? by some schlong sucker. Like, that concept in itself is so messy and disorganized but the yes men think otherwise. Glad I'm not the only one who sees what the blatant problem with this is, because it genuinely baffles me lol
It's funny because I often have my fiancé test my games for me and I'll be nearby while he's playing them. The moment he turns and asks me how to do something, I ask if he can figure it out easily. If he can't or needs instructions, first thing I say is "I fucked up." And it absolutely happens because it's YOUR game and you built all those mechanics and whatnot, but you can't expect that from your players. It's not fair to them and a game should totally be able to stand on it's own without outside intervention just to play.
I think the main reason why The Isle is still alive is because there are no other realistic dinosaur survival games that: 1) can be played by the public; 2) have enough content in them; 3) are a fun game; 4) are not a roblox game PoT and BoB are dinosaur survival games, but they are not really realistic. And it makes a huge difference for a lot of people
@@CryptidEXP I don't mind it not being realistic, that's what gives it it's charm with all the abilities and stuff, while it is having an identity crisis the devs are charming and sweet and clearly want nothing but the best
Dondi has pretty much sold me AWAY from this game. I can deal with a bad fanbase, I can chill with a game that is broken and incomplete(given that it's a game and not a tech demo) I can even be with a game that is unfairly balanced sometimes. But a horrible scumbag developer, that goes around sabotaging other projects and giving Dino games a bad name, no thanks. I will not endorse this product.
The irony is... progression was a better gameplay loop. Growth is just afk simulator until your able to play the dino you want only to inevitably die and start again. At least progression had you spawn in as an adult dino you could play as and progress through different adult dinos that all were playable.
its funny, because thats exactly what i said when survival was first announced years ago in Legacy. Progression Loop was perfect imo. But some people who were "kinda" into dinosaurs didnt like it and wanted to instantly play as their favorite, and the rest is known history. Pro's of progression of the top of my head: Bio Diversity: If you wanted to be a rex, you had to play trough the smaller ones first, creating a big active roster, unlike a Meta we have today. Prey Availability: Due to the automatic Bio Diversity, you always had your prey items somewhere in the map, as they tried to progress. A REX was actually scary: Instead of a new player, just picking up the game, selecting a rex juvi and growing at the edge of the map wich in turn would be considered a "bad" rex player by todays standards.. We actually had VERY SCARY Rex players, these guys survived the whole shabang and going trough all those species(with exceptions, wich il get into now) Nesting: Due to the ability to skip species and be nested in, nesting was a very viable mechanic and eggs were always in rotations 24/7. It didnt combat mixpacking however, and instead promoted it slightly. (as your velo friend trying to become a austro -> utahraptor might hang around you for ex)
I had so much fun playing progression. One of my best memorories of my childhood, being a carnivore dryo trying to find carcasses to eat and competing against other dryos. I died a lot but death never felt like a punishment. I wish there were another game with the same mechanics xd
i never try progresion, cause i bough the game later, but i would love that gameplay... and im a rex main character so i like to have rex unlocked from the begining, but i agree with all the points made by all of u guys and i would acept to play with progresion, cause i think it would make the game more alive.
YES!! I actually miss progression, it was great for diversity! It also felt like there were much more herbivores, and it was always cool to see or be in the large mixed herds that would occur. And also modding, that was such a great era as well and I miss it.
as someone with 1500 hours played on the isle. this video is spot on. when i was apart of the Stresstest team they treated us like we knew nothing and would out right ignore us when they made shitty game changes- only to finally change it after it hit public and there was big community out roar. iv heard with the new ST group its still the same- they ignore all input.
i got banned on their discord for complaining about how i got stuck in glitchy areas of the map and getting spawned in rocks as deinosuchus having to starve to death to restart wasting hours of progress and complained about how the admins dont care about players who get stuck in areas like that and then got banned shortly for misinformation????
@@ZelotKing-dk1qh I was discord muted because I told a mod i reported her to the admins in dms lol. now i cant do anything there except for react to feedback messages
I bought this game. Attempted to play on 3 separate occasions. Ran around frantically in the dark until I starved without ever seeing another living thing. I shouldn't need to do homework to play a video game.
Yes. Was a main The Isle player during legacy days but got sick of the elongated updates and toxic dev attitude. Switched over to Path of Titans (3yrs now) and could not be happier.
@@TheDondįithat’s interesting. Would you care to elaborate? Just as I’ve never heard anything of that nature about the POT dev(s). This is a genuine question btw.
´The success is riding on Promise of greatness alone, because for the past 9 years it's been in development, its always been a shit show, from the devs being assholes, to the numerous hackers and bugs in the game,to the hellish slow dev time, to the bootlickers in the discord who will dogpile on everyone who slightly disagrees with whatever the devs say, to the lead dev Dondi himself saying he hates the games community. This game is surviving through SHEER COPE, that in "the future" its gonna be awesome because it has "so much potential", but in reality, this game is always taking one step forward, two or three steps backwards every single update. I remember the HUGE hype there was about the new map Gateway, where the whole community was praising it as "SAVING" the isle, and guess what, when it released, it was SUPER BUGGY, with TONS of spots where you could just clip throgh the ground and be suspended in limbo until your dino dies of hunger, and in the same update the devs introduced a new GIGANTIC map, they also decided to GUT stamina for everyone, leading to a mass drop off players, thats tanking the player numbers to this day. And guess what? the stam change was on the test server for a while, and EVERY SINGLE PERSON COMPLAINED ABOUT IT, yet the devs pushed in to the main branch out of sheer stubborness. This game HAS no future, it has POTENTIAL, and thats about it. It's a game thats gonna live foreve in that state of "next update is gonna be awesome".
To be honest, you’re absolutely right. I just started playing it a few days ago and have yet to even figure out the basics. About ready to give up and move onto something else.
@@tjarkschweizer TBH, the bright colors in POT kill the immersion for me. I like the quest to grow idea, at least you have a goal. May try it after all if Steam ever offers it.
@@BeNiceToday2 Well, path isn't meant to be all that immersive. Though there are server communities with immersion in mind. In any case, it seems to be doing something right, considering that it has surpassed the isle in popularity.
Eeeeehhhh I wouldn't say never be fulfilled, they said we were gonna get more frequent updates that add content, and we are indeed getting more frequent updates that add content. Things have been getting better since the update 6.5 and it looks like it's going to stay better than it used to be and they are finally getting to the exciting stuff. Yea they have their problems but that's not gonna keep me from getting excited about all the cool things they add to the game, herrera and dilo are pretty cool, and dibble with sparring mechanic that comes alongside it is gonna be cool aswell. I'm not gonna give up on all the cool stuff the game already has and promises for the future just because they made stamina regen mildly inconvenient.
Just picked up the game 2 days ago and am having a blast running around as a raptor. Sure I've died a couple times but I've begun to learn to survive. Fighting other small dinos over dead frogs and getting a perfect diet. The immersion is a feeling unlike any I've ever felt in a game in recent times. I can foresee myself playing the game for a good 50-100 hours which for me is a good amount of time spent in a single game
I don't really care about how the devs speak or whatever, I just play the game and try to have fun with the cool stuff they add but here's some possible answers to some of those questions: 1- "No gameplay loop" problem , it's being added one piece at a time, last pieces are apparently going to be the mutations system and the elder system. 2- There is no tutorial because they apparently want players to learn by playing, which is fine I guess, that's how I like to learn games but it's a game with unique playables that all have their unique mechanics (to be fair most of the time you can tell what a playable can do just by looking at it,like yea this is a massive crocodile, crocodiles drown things so that's what it does, of course there are exceptions like Herrera, Dilo and Troodon) so offering at least some help to get new players to learn those should be implemented even if it's without a complete tutorial. 3- 9:15 You are making it sound like they are trying to scam people, they are not, they are not even actively advertising the game (they have said in the past that they wouldn't start advertising until the game is at the very least mostly complete) so most people, including me find this game by having videos of other people playing the game reccomended to them by youtube. Most people are also glossing over the fact that they are literally making the game from scratch for free, when I got this game Evrima wasn't even a thing, I actually paid for the dumpster fire that is legacy out of my own free will without knowing about anything else the devs have promised because I tought playing as a dinosaur was cool no matter how basic the game was in terms of mechanics, and then got Evrima, an objectively massive upgrade for free. I'm not trying to defend any of the bad behaviour of the dev team, I'm just sick of people only speaking when there is something negative and then disappearing whenever they are proven wrong, like what happened to the people who were constantly saying "oH İt'LL tAKe 50 yEaRS FOr A nEW pLAYaBle" after they added 6 of them in 2023 ? They just disappeared. I've never seen someone go "Oh cool I guess we were wrong about that, they are keeping their promise and relasing more content more often." It's like they are purposefully trying to stop other people from having fun because they don't like the game.
I respect that you have differing feelings on some things, and I'm glad you enjoy the game. Regarding some of your points: 1. This goes back to the issue that if the content isn't there, it doesn't really matter. Promising something will come doesn't mean much. If I go to a restaurant and pay for a steak, and you bring me the side of fries, I'm gonna ask where my steak is. If you tell me 'it's coming' that just doesn't fly. And this kind of moves toward another of your points. (Skipping 2 because that's all fair and I don't have much complaints there). 3. I don't think anyone owns The Isle for free. I think everyone has paid for it. I bought it last month and I paid for a proper game that should give me the functionality it promises. As far as content, I don't care much about that; extra playables or mutations don't really matter to me. But I do know I payed for a game that I could just play without being inundated with bugs, hackers, constant server crashes and more. If those issues are not listed up front in the advertising then I've been falsely advertised to and I am not getting my money's worth. As for legacy players, not all of them seem to have wanted the UE5 port (Evirma) and even if they do enjoy it, that doesn't mean whatsoever that it's free. They paid for a functioning game with players to interact with and so on. Since legacy has been abandoned by the dev team that defaults to Evirma. If Evirma is to be treated as a different game entirely then I feel it should be listed as a different game entirely on a different Steam store page. Just my two cents there. The biggest things that matter to me are the functionality of the game as it was sold. And I just don't feel like the devs are taking responsibility for that. Instead they keep promising new content as though it should mask the current issues, and the very core of the game (especially the networking) is so badly done and poorly optimized that it's sort of like building a castle on a mud pit. They're trying to add all this flashy decor rather than realizing the castle is sinking from a lack of a good foundation.
@@ADevReviews You see, what I'm trying to say is that they didn't promise an "already complete game" to begin with, and like I said you can't say that what they are doing is false advertising because there is NO ADVERTISING at all, The Isle is listed on Steam as an EARLY ACCESS GAME, it never claimed to be complete, people who bought it did it while knowing that it's not a complete game yet. The game is just there, if you buy it, you are agreeing to buying an unfinished game. I'm not gonna get into the whole deal with Early Access games because that's kinda outside the topic, but no they are not promising new content to "mask the issues" they are just showing things that are planned to be added in order to complete making the game. But yes, I agree that they should prioritize optimization first so people can have a better time playing with the existing content while they wait for the game to be completed.
Hm, I don't remember ever saying it needed to be complete, but I do expect it to be what they're selling, and it should be wholly playable. Especially after nearly a decade of development. Of course they're advertising, what do you think the steam landing page is? Did you know the the majority of sales for most indie games come from the first few months of exposure on the steam store and often determine whether that game will make it? They determine the longevity of the game in the majority of cases. That steam page is absolutely their primary advertisement, and as per Steamworks ToS they are required to list the features the game has currently and that the players should expect to be present right now. There's really just no excuse. The endless drone of 'early release' is a bit silly when there's nothing early about it at all and they're charging the same price for full release games. It's nonsensical at best. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should, and in this case, just because they can sit in early release on a build full of bugs and problems, does not mean they should. What they're doing is disrespectful toward their customers. You keep saying they're not doing this or that but I'd ask how well you're certain of that claim, and how well you really know them. I'm speaking from what I see. I don't know them, I don't care to know them. I'm going off of the physical experience of playing the game, my expectations of a game as a consumer, my knowledge of game development as a developer, and my experiences with steamworks from the dev side of things. And you certainly don't have to believe any of that, or agree with it. But I will say there is a reason the community is so upset and maybe they ought to listen just a little bit.
its 20 bucks for two games that are playable(evrima has a stable spiro branch) and both look nice as well as sound nice yes evrima branch is in development for a dev u dont seem to understand in development like legacy is a game that has minimal bugs like every game on the market and is a fun game and their only trailer on steam is for legacy and videos they put on youtube is strictly for hyping the community on new updates like tf u want for 20 dollars like u know its 2024 right like thats less than a fill of gas bro tf money aint their objective this aint the hill to die on. like look at day of dragons bro that shit still sketch as hell@@ADevReviews ps if u can find a pushed add by the isle I'll pay u cus i wanna watch it
@@Moonaloo Also Evrima is very well optimized in comparison to some other UE5 games (or other modern games in general) I've seen that use FSR and DLSS as an excuse for not optimizing the game. I mean yea there are a lot of server related issues that need to be fixed but credit where credit is due it can run on an 8 year old GPU like 1060 with no need for FSR. Unlike a some modern games you don't need to have an rtx 3070 to play on 1080p medium settings at 60fps
Sean Murray read and colated every criticism of NMS that he could find. It took him months but he ended up with a proritised list of customer concerns that needed attention.
I was a long time player, pretty much everyone who still plays it is too far gone, or they're so new that they don't know the full story for the game (which is fair since this game is very old). The discord bootlicking was very noticeable even back in progression so I'm not surprised its so much worse now. The Isle's playerbase was genuinely more upset that they changed the fucking camera position over the fact they added a groomer onto their team, or the fact that Dondi spent a LOT more in twitch donations than he ever did in Foszor's cancer fund. (Who is now deceased) Dondi absolutely surrounds himself with yes-men, so its not a surprise the community is done the same. That and at this point I am skeptical of this game ever reaching completion. Pretty much every time this game was picking up steam, some bullshit would come up and they have to "reset" development. This happened with progression to survival for some odd reason, and now survival got replaced for 'evrima'. Nevermind the fact that: -cannibals -humans -mutants like the colossus or reaper -hypos of rex, spino, giga, and carno -loads of dinosaurs were all pretty much modeled and designed or for some, fully implemented into the base game back in Progression/Survival. This game isn't some herculean task to make since all of these assets were in the game and modeled, or for some, pretty much completed and implemented already by the time the recode was developed. Literally what has the recode update even given us? The recode itself was *four* years ago and the game isn't really much further along than where it was before. In december of this year, The Isle is gonna turn *nine* *years* *old.* This game came out when fucking Obama was still president, and it still has nothing to show of it other than the same potential it had. other INDIE games from the same time -Subnautica -Ark -Darkest Dungeon -Cuphead -Nuclear Throne -Hyper Light Drifter -Stardew Valley -Enter the Gungeon All of these games are A) Finished B) RELEASED finished (or close to it) C) already have sequels released for them. Meanwhile The Isle is still floundering to get out of a tech demo state. The only explanation is the game is being made by people so hilariously incompetent that its in a death loop, or its a scam.
Honestly I’m not afraid to say that this game shouldn’t cost money. I don’t like telling artists that their art isn’t worth it, but this isn’t worth it man. I don’t want to pay $20 to be punished for pressing play when I could spend that money on food or rent.
I mean, don't buy it? Don't like it? Stop playing... it's as simple as that. People want everything in this world for free, I'm not saying 20 dollars isn't much, that depends who you ask, but normal games now a days are 60, the game I'd being actively developed... it's just how it is
lol I have 1000+ hours and honestly I both love and absolutely despise this game and honestly I’ve recently completely dropped the game. It also seems the devs are speed running killing the game with recent changes, for instance they’ve increased growth times and made stamina abysmal to the point where the game is a glorified waiting game.
02:00 No it is absolutely not the responsibility of a game dev This is the responsibility of a hired senior community manager or PR person who knows how to communicate in terms of representing the company. Not the game devs, they obviously will lack the communication skills and its also not in their responsibility to have those. Their responsibility is developing and programming.
I have had this game for 3 days. I love the idea of it and when I manage to find other players to join up with it can be a lot of fun. But since last update (second day I was playing) it has just been constantly crashing and the server that I am on is very quickly bleeding players. Really appreciate seeing videos like yours talking about it all.
Update: been playing this game for a month and am enjoying it a lot. Thankfully, the crashes got fixed but now nesting isn't working properly xD Still, I found a nice server with fun people and good admins. Still got lots of annoying bugs but I'm hopeful for the holiday update to fix the nesting and hopefully not break anything too badly x]
This is one of the first videos on dinosaurs and dinosaur-related games I've watched in almost a decade.... already having my doubts. I thank you random stranger for at least making it clear(er) to me on what's been happening with The Isle, I hope we'll get a proper dinosaur-related videogame without all the drama and brokenness some day.
I have 2,500 hours in this game. I love it. 500 of that was legacy and the rest has been evrima. Thats a lot of time to spend in it. Its punishing and amazing. There are moments of accomplishment where you take down a stego or run a successful pack hunt with omni or troo. But.. Those moments are overshadowed by the sheer venom that is spewed at us from the devs. We're not seen as customers worthy of respect. We're seen as the vile gremlins that threaten their perfect view of the game. A perfect view, mind you, that they failed to achieve the first time around. This game has gone through so many iterations. I cant believe that I was once someone who defended the devs. Who believed and trusted them. Now I know. Now I see them for what they are. I've had this game for 5 years.. (jesus fuck five years..) Hopefully things get better. I want it to be good. Half of its life I have been here..
I bought the isle during legacy soon got bored. Saw humans in evrima and joined back . But then I started watching Isle dev streams and Dondi has to be the most ignorant mouthy dev I've ever seen for having done so little. Every video I see he is just a mouthpiece. I'd wanted friends to join to play but I won't get them to waste money.
Ive been playing this game for a very long time now, as a middle ground person myself id have to say not all of it is bad, but.. Sadly.. for the most part, the community and devs do need a bit of change. The community is more like Call of Duty players than anything else, this game DOES have potential. But its wasted. The mechanics are amazing, the designs are phenomenal.. BUT, the mechanics and designs are not everything, devs that listen and a community that is widly open to new players play an extremely important part. And i think that, in my own personal opinion, are really the two biggest factors missing here.
I agree on some parts and you made good points, but, I also disagree on other parts. it's a lot of text and you don't have to read it. but, I felt like I had to express my view here. first of all, it is an alpha game. I don't expect the game to lead me at that stage of development. so, I am totally fine with making my own research about how to play (or switch to evrima). because in my opinion, you should do the research even BEFORE you buy any kind of alpha game. so, that's nothing the isle specific. more like how I see alpha games in general. the other problem I have is you asking for something to do (tasks) IN the game. you have to know, this game was never meant to be the game it is by now. it should have been a kind of tarkov with dinosaurs. the whole vision was more like a hardcore PVP game. personally I compare it to dayz with dinos. nobody expects in a game like dayz any kind of quest or tasks to do. it's about the interaction with other players. the whole gameplay comes by players. now it gets tricky. they put so much love in these dinos (legacy) that many other players got attracted. people who want to play as dino. dino lovers (like myself) were amazed by the amount of reality it offered. there was no other dino game before which gave you the feeling to be a dino like the isle did. so, the community was split pretty much right from the start. hardcore PVP players and dino lovers. within these big groups are many other groups. some want it as realistic as possible, some want it less frustrating (no permadeath), some want PVP only, some would even prefer a PVE, some think a rex should beat a utah regardless of skills, some want a very skill based fight system and so on. hundreds of opinions. no matter what you do with this game, 70% will be mad. 'cause there isn't a single majority. you want more tasks? well, I don't. you see, whatever they do, one of us will be "sad". therefore I think you can barely criticize those points. I am totally with you in terms of them not being the most skillful devs when it comes to code writing. you probably even know much better than I do. but, they lack a lot of experience when it comes to multiplayer netcode or however this is called in english. even to a level where I am afraid that it will grow to an issues they won't be able to fix anymore at some point. in fact, that's my biggest worry about the game in general. I am no fan of dondi. that said, I don't know him very well. I read some stories, heard some stories and so on. in fact tho, I don't care much. I don't have to like bill gates to enjoy windows. I am interested in the product, not the producer. so, the product is, by now!, the game which suits MY vision of a dino game the best. as soon as there is a better game out there tomorrow, I am in and will never look back. I just highly doubt it. so, even if they mess many things up, they still (and sadly in a way) offer the best dino game out there. which brings me to my last point and probably biggest issue with your review. the trust and money part. I played 3000 hours and payed 20 bucks. even if they turn down all servers tomorrow, I couldn't complain. you can say many bad things about dondi, but, he also said this won't change until the game is ready. compare this to it's biggest competitor. path of titans. the whole game feels like a money grabber only. buy skins, buy different dino packages on mobile and of course it is on mobile 'cause it is the biggest market. we only implement nesting if we reach more money and I could go on and on with things that makes you feel like their biggest motivation is to grab money. none of this is in the isle. the game feels like it's made from a gamer for gamer and not for stockholders. from a dev team full of passion for their game. I have no worries about my money being stolen, misused or anything like that. not at all. it's pretty much the opposite. I would even pay for an DLC if it would help to make the game better. but, dondi also said he isn't interested in more money through stuff like skins, DLC and so on. I am old and maybe I am old fashioned, but I very much like that. I hate all those skins and micro transaction stuff. so, I agree on them being a dev team which lacks on experience. which isn't the most skillful when it comes to code writing. who have a narcissistic boss (which steve jobs was too btw) and might mess up the whole game in the end. who treat their community with less respect. but, I very much disagree about that money grabbing and trust point in your review. 'cause I very much trust that they will do their best to make it the best dino game out there. are they skilled enough to do so? I don't know and like I said, that's in fact my biggest worry. but not 'cause they misuse/grab money. simply 'cause they may lack of skills/experience for the game they are aiming for. sry again, I am passionate about that game XD other than that, nice video and well argued points. very interesting was that hacker/client part. so, thx for the video ♥
Fr, It's kind of unfair that this guy is criticizing every aspect of the game when he only started playing recently, at this point he's lowkey trying to compare Path of titans with the isle
Unfortunately the Dino/Dragon survival game genre has a lot of guys like Dondi(the Isle) and Jao(Day of Dragons) lying to people, possibly scamming people, and ruining things. >:(
Being in the server literally feels like im talking to a bunch of roblox script kids, its exhausting "Hey is there a plan to fix so and so?" receives "Uhm you just REALLY suck lol, go play a different game if you aren't good enough to play TI" or yknow, you might just get banned because Dondi thinks its funny
The one thing that baffles me most of all... is how nobody can read/pronounce "Evrima." I always see and hear Evirma, Envrima, Envirma etc. How?! Anyway, I'm pretty sure most of all of this will be addressed. I wish they had a larger team to do it more quickly, but I'm sure tutorials and so forth will eventually be in-game. I saw someone's idea of tutorials in the form of ingame dossiers on each creature--so if you're playing you can open up basically an in-character 'file' detailing the dino's abilities and so forth. Would love to see that.
Have you tried Path of Titans? As much as I used to enjoy the Isle I feel like PoT is just kind of a superior version in almost all ways. I believe it's created by devs who left the Isle ages back cause they disagreed with how it was being developed?
Idc about the bugs and hackers, what i hate about the devs is that they caused these severe balance issues and fail to make biteforces, healthpools and damages fitting They simply have no idea what theyre doing , they dont know how high deinos biteforce is wich is why its treated so weak in the game
I have 600h in the Game, Play almost only on officials and have only seen 2-3 hackers. The Game is not the best or even flawless but dont drag it deeper through the mud than it deserves.
I waited 7 years to play this game. I finally got around to buying it, downloaded evrima, hopped in, and was immediately disappointed. $30 and 7 years of dreams down the drain. I know some people will say POT is better, but I hate games with busy tasks, and the map feels really small in that game. BOB is another game I hear good things about, but I don’t want to spend another $30 on a game I know very little about about
Parasaurolophus are regularly hunted by pterosaurs and mosasaurs are capable of grabbing and drowning sauropods several times their size in BoB. That's all you need to know about the state of that game, honestly.
@@Dinoman9877 Honestly I do like the atmosphere they are trying to go for and the fact that BOB can have some abilities make sense considering that gods and other supernatural shit exists in the game, but I do agree that the creatures should still be better balanced even if they are not going for a totally realistic survival game.
Hacker problem needs to be fixed for sure (there's a reason I mostly play the more passive creatures) but also The game needs a tutorial or manual explaining the basics of how scent, nutrients, stamina, health, status, oxygen, nesting and now mutations work. Servers need beefing up so they can support more players. If the official servers for Day of Dragons of all things can support 200 I see no reason why the isle can't. AI bugs need fixing. There are multiple that effect spawning, pathsetting, and even just having the flight behaviors activate at all. Map needs to be finished. The islands are empty, the buildings are blocked off, some areas could use proper landmarks to make them distinguishable, and many many unintentional pit traps need to be fixed. The oceans need stuff in them. There's nothing there. Why isn't there anything there? Once these things are fixed the game could actually be worth recommending to the general public. It really only appeals to people who are already on board with and seeking out the few things it has going for it.
i think i might refund the game, either i have to play a trash old game with no players. Or i have to play a dinosaur game where there isnt even a freaking T.rex
I’ve been a fan of this game for a while now, since the early days of evrima. I’ve gotten my friends (who turns out they didn’t enjoy it) to buy it, now I feel bad. This game since the release of the new map in my opinion has progressively gotten worse. My main problems are as follows -nothing to do besides combat, walking, talking (sometimes), and eating. -really buggy and badly optimized. -debatable at best balancing. -weird physics, you’ll fall off a two foot incline and lose hours of progress. -stamina changes are terrible and make combat impossible to prepare for unless your walking everywhere. The removal of the (already annoying) healthbar, I’m colourblind and can’t tell the difference between losing 20% of my hp and being at 5% of my health. -the growth is horrible, you have to spend 2 hours as most creatures before most of the game is even playable. -the game has taken 9 YEARS TO DEVELOP AND STILL ISNT DONE! -ai is terribly made. -sure the maps are pretty but they are super mountainous and a hell to get through even if your not falling off cliffs. -the maps are too big for its own good, on the new one I’ve gone entire lives without seeing another player, let alone hearing one. -rubber banding galore (I’ve full on died because of it.) -rumours on a camera change that will literally make teno (my beloved) unplayable. These are just the ones I can name off the top of my head. Believe me I’ve had hopes for this game for too long, I’ve spent 200+ hours on it, it was fun at first but I’m pretty much giving up on it, I’ve been waiting for a few new playables, they will either be broken or unplayable, but who knows how many years it’s gonna take before humans are even gonna be properly implemented. Sadly I think this game has started digging it’s own grave, I’ve been a loyal fan, suggested a bunch of features I think would make the game almost objectively better in my opinion (contradicting myself I know) but then I remembered that they don’t read feedback. I’m this games target audience and even I’m tired of it, don’t get it, it’s not worth it.
i wont recommend the isle to any 1 bc of they r unpro and i remember when the dev did something new or fixed something they posted like this "today i wasted my time on doing ...." wdym by wasted? lol i knew then its a joke and they care just abt money
I've made this compassion several times but I keep forgetting how similar Dondi and Jao are as devs. Gonna throw a bone however and say something nice about Jao. He did right prioritising the health of his pet dog when she had a litter of puppies. Good job Jao, now learn to take criticism and stop flying off the handle.
The Isle has a toxic dev problem, and strange decisions äPoT suffers from the boredom that the game has nothing but PvP battles and hackers, and Saurian is basically abandoned after their ex-developer stole the studio's money. Are there any good dinosaur sims out there without any problems?
I recognize many of the people in the discord that had much to say on the Reddit post, and it’s not very surprising that they said what they said. They often lack respect for anyone given said person has even a slightly differing opinion… and having known some of these people a lot more than others, to the point where I considered a lot of them friends, trust me when I say they can be quite vile. These people very much have no problem excusing the behavior the developers exhibit, no matter the severity. It’s gotten to the point where specific islecorders will assume someone is genuinely trolling due to their differing opinion, and it basically becomes a huge dogpile on one person. I had been in the community from 2017 - 2023 and unfortunately these people do not grow up. (Anyone from islecord who knows who I am, yes, I am aware I need to grow up in my own personal regards too 💀)
Some of the devs are pretty skilled, but also, they suck as humans beings. They are act like teenagers. I have never seen any kind of professionalism from them. Literally, the only reason they can keep it with it, is because they don't have competition in dinos survival genre. (path of titans is not a survival game, it's just some kind of RPGs and Beast of bermudas, well... rainbow dinos jumping 30 meters from the ground as a "special ability", don't need to say more. Which is fine, but survival mechanics are almost null). The day, a good studio makes a real game with core survival mechanics and about dinos, The Isle will die in questions of hours.
I'm in the process of putting together a series where I plan to break down the majority of the mechanics used in The Isle and how to easily replicate them yourself in UE5. Maybe it'll help inspire some other devs to do something. I wouldn't mind hopping onto a little dev team to make essentially a better version of The Isle, but I'm definitely not going to do it myself, lol.
You have a great voice so I don't understand how people are misgendering you. I played this game since the beginning and I agree with most of your takes but you make it a bit worse than it actually is. They have a entire feedback channel where you can place your feedback without issues. I've also seen a lot of new players being welcomed with open arms and getting help from the community but maybe EU has a better community than NA? I am only checking EU channels. I also only have been killed by a cheater once in my entire playthrough. It's still one too many and they diffidently need to do more to prevent cheaters from playing. But you are still right in what you say and the developers need to listen to the player base more, especially since the developers want to bring out a new camera angle that is very close to your dino that no one likes. If they push this camera angle than the game will die.
1:30 can't say I agree with those claims regarding the discord, because I am a new player right now, and 90% of people there are super helpful and friendly, even when answering my (many) new player questions. Also, with Don, why is the full context not shown? How am I to see whomever he was responding to was not a total ass themselves, instigating such a response? You might be correct, but you might just as much full of it (NOT saying you are, but I can not. As the person putting out the claims, the onus is on you, to show FULL context and evidence towards your claims, and if you do not do so, said evidence should wholly be dismissed, as it is not showing the full truth, but only what you "let" me see.
I play this game on and off only on stable community servers and pretty much enjoy it, official are a horrible experience and everything surrounding Dondi is a shitstorm even before Evrima, after Evrima came out it only got x10000 worse, the worst part is that more and more community servers are shutting down because of all you have mentioned in the video, which is very alarming but not for that egomaniac and his circlejerks.
The isle is a good game it’s just not the dinosaur game try path of titans it’s better in every way especially with devs As someone with 1000 hours on the isle I agree with this review mostly
The isle dev team isn’t doing good. They have the money to hire more people if they need to, but they dont. Dondi absolutely sucks at managing development of the game, which is why it takes 3-6 months for even a small patch to come out. The isle devs have always been one of the slowest and least efficient devs I have ever seen. Evrima has been out for at least 3 years and the game still can’t stop stuttering every few seconds when playing (I got a really beefy computer, so it’s not on my end) Plus their anti cheat or how they go about stopping cheating is absolutely abysmal. After an update, it takes about a week or two and cheaters start showing up again. I love the game, but it is a dumpster fire sometimes and I don’t know if these devs will ever shape up. I know some of the devs are good and like doing what they do, but that is bogged down by other issues in the team.
I think that the Isle are truly a survivor game, you born starving as some orphan baby, you have to learn everything by yourself unless you have experience player with you or that you have seen some context of 'The isle' but really I don't like "Hacking" too. It's just stupid for a survivor game and that show how skill issue you are when doing this hack and unfair.
the devs of the isle are trash, some of the worst i ever saw. dondi is a crying baby and get mad when players complain about something. they dont care to players opnion and will keep killing the game. they focused so much in immersion that they forgot to actually care for their game.
Fair enough and I'm sorry you feel that way. I've always had a fairly rough voice for a lady but having people mock you for it or call you a man does tend to get old quite fast.
Path of titans has just surpassed the Isle, if you want to have fun, just play PoT (The isle is fun ik, this is my my assessment after playing 50 hours of playing both)
I have generally stopped playing these games, pot i least played as its combat was super boring and the growth is awful + comms servers are either deathmatch or chill servers. the isle is the game ive played most recently and its the one i got first, i feel it has the most potential as i can have fun kosing as pachy with my friends but the hackers and mixpacking really make the game unfun at times for official, unofficials usually have a billion rules, bob is the game ive got the most playtime on and its devolved into a dead mess, with unofficials 100% being awful and official not really getting many players, the combat is fun for some creatures but for most of them its pretty braindead easy. ive moved onto other games like Ark, helldivers 2, lethal company, deep rock galactic while i wait for the isle to add more content.
You’re a game dev. Make a better game and put them out of buisness. lol Thats only half a joke. The Isle would crumble if it had any real competition by a crew of real devs who act like adults. I would love to have a good humans vs Dinosaurs survival game
its a 20 dallor game what did you think you where getting for 20 a working game thos where 60 plus so be grateful the games 20$ not 60$ yes games boring yes alot of cheaters thats who ruined it cheaters not the isle devs yes they didnt help but you paid 20 dallors and it works but their cheaters happen why not complian i a vidoe and make your own game i would support you but all i see are vidoes like this complaining your right but 20$ complain again why not make your own game
The isle is very fun. It’s realistic. Devs are probably tired of people asking for it to be different. Also want to add I haven’t encountered a single bug that makes it unplayable other than getting stuck occasionally which seems to be remedied with unstuck command. People complaining about the game are weird to me. We don’t want the game to be anything like that arcade children’s game POT.
The game is in very early Beta and expecting there to be no issues is just unrealistic and some people just seem to forget about that but I guess Evirma being developed for a few years could have that ware off, also having to learn the game on your own to understand how to play it doesn't make it not fun, other games do this like Project Zomboid and Terraria. Those can high skill caps to play and they're fun even if it's confusing and figuring out how things work is more fun than just someone saying "Hey this mechanic works like this" or "You get the ability to do this at this growth." I can understand some of the problems like it is annoying and stressful to die because some mechanic refused to work but I just get over it, remember the game is still in beta, and try again. If you are annoyed with encountering hackers on Official Servers then just go to the community servers, they cost nothing to play on those and are better most of the time. The game has gotten better in the past several months than way before that mainly because they were trying to convert the game from UE4 to UE5 so the progress was insanely slow and they had to make changes to make it work. They're aiming to make it a survival game and not just a game where you just fight when you reach 100% growth, and the game can be described as a Hardcore-Survival game and there are times where they listened to the ST players, like the Carno Ram was given a charge after players said it was spammed too much after they buffed the acceleration. They are working on the playables to make them fun/better, like Cera, Herrera, Deino, Dilo, Stego, and Troodon are gonna get tweaks to help them. But this is just what I think of it.
The game has been in "very early Beta" for close to a decade now. Eventually "it's unfinished" stops being an understandable factor and starts making you look like the second coming of yandere simulator.
@@dr.archaeopteryx5512 They had to start from scratch in 2020 because Legacy was so buggy that when they fixed something it would create a bug for no reason so they pretty much had to make a different game and the switch from UE4 to UE5 did set them back a year
@@YourAverageSpy955And then Dondi had an ouchie on his little toe and had to get kisses so it could heal, really they basically just started last week really 🤡
You guys gotta understand that Evrima isint done and its still in BETA as it says on the starting screen. Give it time to realase fully and i think our gameplay will be alot better.
Then why does it feel like it is still in a apha state? During the time of said "Beta", plenty of Indie games were created and finished. This is UNCALLED FOR. The Devs know they don't need to finish the game because people will brainless support the devs and the devs can just do nothing with it and keep fake promises It will be 2030 and I bet this game will still be in "Beta" I seriously do wish you could play better games and do something more usefull with your spare time rather playing a game with terrible security issues and basically a glorified waiting simulator, your time on this world is limited and you spend it watching 8 hours of your dinossaur doing nothing
@@AmoniPaleoI would also like to point out that there's over 20 developers on this game (lmao) It's if anything one of the bigger teams on an indie game rlly ever
@@IndominusRex-wc1ey 20 DEVS????? Any Indie team would love to have that amount of people working on their game. There is 20 devs and the game is still bare bones this is really infuriating and yet hilarious.
I was banned from The Isle's discord for giving feedback.. Because i told them it was a bad idea when they rolled out Evrima to early. The Dev team is pathetic :)
It's getting worse nowadays, to be honest. It seems that cheaters are allowed to do whatever they want nowadays. Evrima is a cheaters paradise, and the excuse I got for calling the cheaters out and reporting them using tagging is ignored. I'm taking a long break from the aisle. My reason for a long break extended to my experience with a deinosuchus player using cheats against both me and my friend. We were all full-grown deinos, and he killed both of us (I get it, it doesn't seem fair, but he had a partner that ran off, which we were believing wasn't hacking). We both bit them with full force for bites, while the other croc was definitely not fully 100%, and somehow he managed to kill both of us even though we were all hitting him more than he hit us (head bites, 500 force). It's not about ''Sucking''' because we don't. It's about the hacking these people get away with and the ignoring we get from admins tagging them about it. There's other experiences with speed hacks and other stuff we've seen around, but that deino player was the last straw for me.
Just if u did not know. u can bye all hacks to This game for 8 usd pr week. And the devs knows it. Just to add more bad stuff about this game. That i have 4000 hours in
I use to be Steam friends Dondi and played a game called The Hidden with him way back in like 2012, around that time at least.
He was a pretty abrasive guy when I knew him.
dang bro
My only real interaction with him was remarking in surprise that we shared a birthday when he mentioned his. His response was to absolutely BRAY "WISH WE DIDN'T" in the most rude possible voice. I'm not mad about it because... it was probably..? supposed to be humor? But it was just kinda like "okay, dude?"
Honestly, barely anyone knows him outside of his discord that is filled with child predators.
Bad things I have seen:
-the hacking problem
-general coding mess (AI)
-Dondi
-Dondi's behavior
-Dondi's relations to gamers
-dedicated server lag and rubberbanding
-recurring problems with nesting, game data saving, and continuity
Good things I have seen:
-an entirely new map
-new dinos added within weeks of migration to UE (this is a huge one)
-migration to UE
-A framework set up for realistic weekly goals
-increased comms between the devs and the community (thanks Filipe!)
-increased pace of major additions.
Have you seen the new camera system drama?
Got to add Dondi defending a pedophile and lowkey threatening the girl who spoke out
Totally agree with you.
Playing the isle for an hour: barely growing, getting molested, lag, people either tolerate you or straight up shit on you
Playing pot for an hour: can reach adulthood on server, if I die I don't lose an hour of progress, people actually have souls
@@JMCV07 The Isle still forgets a huge important factor, games are supposed to be fun.
@asiergonzalez4060 its fun for me 😁 if u want a more frienly dino game, u already have other options, or what u want?? 3 or 4 Dino games that are all the same?
@@asiergonzalez4060 the isle isn’t for everyone
Pot isn't realistic enough for most isle players. That's the main reason we stick to our game.
I think the main reason why The Isle is still alive is because there are no other realistic dinosaur survival games that:
1) can be played by the public;
2) have enough content in them;
3) are a fun game;
4) are not a roblox game
PoT and BoB are dinosaur survival games, but they are not really realistic. And it makes a huge difference for a lot of people
Precisley, and one of the only reasons that pot is as big as it is, is because its on console and mobile
@@CryptidEXP Also because, ya know… it’s actually fun unlike the isle.
@@CryptidEXP I don't mind it not being realistic, that's what gives it it's charm with all the abilities and stuff, while it is having an identity crisis the devs are charming and sweet and clearly want nothing but the best
PoT is more popular by a long shot. And no, I don't play the game, but I'm aware of their statistics.
@@TSynFen because the devs are actually likable, can take vails criticism and don't defend pedophiles
Dondi has pretty much sold me AWAY from this game.
I can deal with a bad fanbase,
I can chill with a game that is broken and incomplete(given that it's a game and not a tech demo)
I can even be with a game that is unfairly balanced sometimes.
But a horrible scumbag developer, that goes around sabotaging other projects and giving Dino games a bad name, no thanks. I will not endorse this product.
Bro dondi absolutely has a luxurious lifestyle. I looked him up. Big house, nice car.
Pro's of progression of the top of my head:
Bio Diversity: If you wanted to be a rex, you had to play trough the smaller ones first, creating a big active roster, unlike a Meta we have today.
We actually had VERY SCARY Rex players, these guys survived the whole shabang and going trough all those species(with exceptions, wich il get into now)
Nesting: Due to the ability to skip species and be nested in, nesting was a very viable mechanic and eggs were always in rotations 24/7.
I miss progression

I bought this game. Attempted to play on 3 separate occasions. Ran around frantically in the dark until I starved without ever seeing another living thing. I shouldn't need to do homework to play a video game.
You’ll never catch me playing The Isle… Path of Titans all the way. Just the sweetest and kindest dev team
Yes. Was a main The Isle player during legacy days but got sick of the elongated updates and toxic dev attitude. Switched over to Path of Titans (3yrs now) and could not be happier.
Path is no better lol. The path main developer did way worse shit than dondi.
@@TheDondįithat’s interesting. Would you care to elaborate? Just as I’ve never heard anything of that nature about the POT dev(s). This is a genuine question btw.
Path of titans warmed up to me it’s so much better when compared to the dumpster fire piece of shit the isle is
@@markyrex7512 the isle is a dumpster fire but path sadly is toxic waste
One day it'll be awesome.
That day is sometime after the end of the universe.
To be honest, you’re absolutely right. I just started playing it a few days ago and have yet to even figure out the basics. About ready to give up and move onto something else.
You might enjoy Path of Titans.
@@tjarkschweizer I stuck with it, getting further, having fun, I guess that’s the whole point.
@@BeNiceToday2 Yes, that is the point. Glad that you're having fun.
The only people play this game is because of nostalgia and false hopes/promises that are never fulfilled.
@@danyul2571 As someone who has almost 1500 hours, honestly I'm kinda jealous, learning this game by playing it is incredibly fun.
"all talk, no do" type of game 🙏
With what you can do being very little-[hunt, nest, grow and die]
I don't really care about how the devs speak or whatever, I just play the game and try to have fun with the cool stuff they add but here's some possible answers to some of those questions:
1- "No gameplay loop" problem , it's being added one piece at a time, last pieces are apparently going to be the mutations system and the elder system.
I'm not trying to defend any of the bad behaviour of the dev team, I'm just sick of people only speaking when there is something negative and then disappearing whenever they are proven wrong,
like what happened to the people who were constantly saying "oH İt'LL tAKe 50 yEaRS FOr A nEW pLAYaBle" after they added 6 of them in 2023 ? They just disappeared. I've never seen someone go "Oh cool I guess we were wrong about that, they are keeping their promise and relasing more content more often."
It's like they are purposefully trying to stop other people from having fun because they don't like the game.
I respect that you have differing feelings on some things, and I'm glad you enjoy the game. Regarding some of your points:
I'm not gonna get into the whole deal with Early Access games because that's kinda outside the topic, but no they are not promising new content to "mask the issues"
they are just showing things that are planned to be added in order to complete making the game.
Nevermind the fact that:
-cannibals
-humans
-mutants like the colossus or reaper
-hypos of rex, spino, giga, and carno
-loads of dinosaurs
were all pretty much modeled and designed or for some, fully implemented into the base game back in Progression/Survival.
This game isn't some herculean task to make since all of these assets were in the game and modeled, or for some, pretty much completed and implemented already by the time the recode was developed.
Literally what has the recode update even given us? The recode itself was *four* years ago and the game isn't really much further along than where it was before.
In december of this year, The Isle is gonna turn *nine* *years* *old.* This game came out when fucking Obama was still president, and it still has nothing to show of it other than the same potential it had.
other INDIE games from the same time
-Subnautica
-Ark
-Darkest Dungeon
-Cuphead
-Nuclear Throne
-Hyper Light Drifter
-Stardew Valley
-Enter the Gungeon
All of these games are
A) Finished
B) RELEASED finished (or close to it)
C) already have sequels released for them.

No it is absolutely not the responsibility of a game dev
This is the responsibility of a hired senior community manager or PR person who knows how to communicate in terms of representing the company.
Thankfully, the crashes got fixed but now nesting isn't working properly xD
Still, I found a nice server with fun people and good admins.

You could have just shown random normal isle gameplay from here on
after playing a few years you are very right about devs and few other things, keep the good videos up 😁
I agree on some parts and you made good points, but, I also disagree on other parts.
it's a lot of text and you don't have to read it. but, I felt like I had to express my view here.
first of all, it is an alpha game.
I don't know and like I said, that's in fact my biggest worry. but not 'cause they misuse/grab money. simply 'cause they may lack of skills/experience for the game they are aiming for.
sry again, I am passionate about that game XD
other than that, nice video and well argued points. very interesting was that hacker/client part. so, thx for the video ♥
Hey, you are totally within your rights to have and share your own feelings, and I appreciate that.

Fr, It's kind of unfair that this guy is criticizing every aspect of the game when he only started playing recently, at this point he's lowkey trying to compare Path of titans with the isle
Not to be confused with "when bad devs go wild"
Unfortunately the Dino/Dragon survival game genre has a lot of guys like Dondi(the Isle) and Jao(Day of Dragons) lying to people, possibly scamming people, and ruining things. >:(
Being in the server literally feels like im talking to a bunch of roblox script kids, its exhausting
"Hey is there a plan to fix so and so?" receives "Uhm you just REALLY suck lol, go play a different game if you aren't good enough to play TI" or yknow, you might just get banned because Dondi thinks its funny
Dondi will be what kills the Isle
I cant believe im stuck with 4 copies of this crap.
...why the hell'd you think that was a good idea in the first place?
I have so many hours on this game. Recently dropped it until things change
Have you tried Path of Titans? As much as I used to enjoy the Isle I feel like PoT is just kind of a superior version in almost all ways. I believe it's created by devs who left the Isle ages back cause they disagreed with how it was being developed?
You tell em sista/brotha/ themsta
Got banned from Dondi's stream on twitch the first time I put a sentence in his chat. Good video.
Idc about the bugs and hackers, what i hate about the devs is that they caused these severe balance issues and fail to make biteforces, healthpools and damages fitting
They simply have no idea what theyre doing , they dont know how high deinos biteforce is wich is why its treated so weak in the game
I have 600h in the Game, Play almost only on officials and have only seen 2-3 hackers. The Game is not the best or even flawless but dont drag it deeper through the mud than it deserves.
same I've played 500h on evrima and have only seen one like there are def problems to the game this aint one rn
Wellcome to the isle, i was in the same bote as u wer
Hacker problem needs to be fixed for sure (there's a reason I mostly play the more passive creatures) but also
The game needs a tutorial or manual explaining the basics of how scent, nutrients, stamina, health, status, oxygen, nesting and now mutations work.
Yeah, despite over 3 years of development for evrima, it still has so many problems and issues.
i think i might refund the game, either i have to play a trash old game with no players. Or i have to play a dinosaur game where there isnt even a freaking T.rex
And now i know why so many PoT devs left TI and went to PoT 😅 i bought TI before PoT and i regret it. Wish i could get my money back ngl
The Isle missed out on becoming an even bigger game simply for the fact that the team behind the game isn't quite the smartest.
I spent hard earned cash on the game just to find out evrima is so badly optimized I cant play it
I’ve been a fan of this game for a while now, since the early days of evrima. I’ve gotten my friends (who turns out they didn’t enjoy it) to buy it, now I feel bad.
This game since the release of the new map in my opinion has progressively gotten worse. My main problems are as follows
-nothing to do besides combat, walking, talking (sometimes), and eating.
-rubber banding galore (I’ve full on died because of it.)
-rumours on a camera change that will literally make teno (my beloved) unplayable.
Why are there pentagrams in your "the rest is just talking" picture?
i wont recommend the isle to any 1 bc of they r unpro and i remember when the dev did something new or fixed something they posted like this "today i wasted my time on doing ...." wdym by wasted? lol i knew then its a joke and they care just abt money
Why the fuck do devs always turn kit to be assholes
The Isle has a toxic dev problem, and strange decisions äPoT suffers from the boredom that the game has nothing but PvP battles and hackers, and Saurian is basically abandoned after their ex-developer stole the studio's money. Are there any good dinosaur sims out there without any problems?
dats realy weird i have never seen eny hackers on the servers i have played
You play 1 minute a week or your a nester npc
(Anyone from islecord who knows who I am, yes, I am aware I need to grow up in my own personal regards too 💀)
Well i play the old version on 13 fps and i still enjoyed it.
This game wont ever reach any sort of potential with Dondi on the Lead dev seat and everyone knows it.
I believe I saw your post on Reddit a day or 2 ago. glad you made this video.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Yawn.@@ADevReviews
Well said sir. Bravo. 👍😃👍
As the person putting out the claims, the onus is on you, to show FULL context and evidence towards your claims, and if you do not do so, said evidence should wholly be dismissed, as it is not showing the full truth, but only what you "let" me see.
what to do when your board
I play this game on and off only on stable community servers and pretty much enjoy it, official are a horrible experience and everything surrounding Dondi is a shitstorm even before Evrima, after Evrima came out it only got x10000 worse, the worst part is that more and more community servers are shutting down because of all you have mentioned in the video, which is very alarming but not for that egomaniac and his circlejerks.
Recently???
Just a sensitive transgender 40 year old late to buying the game, unaware of it's history. Ignore the vid
Echoes of extinction . . . . Thats the game you wanna try. . . . Its what the isle shoulda been but never will be lol
The isle is a good game it’s just not the dinosaur game try path of titans it’s better in every way especially with devs
As someone with 1000 hours on the isle I agree with this review mostly
I don't know man imo I played path of titans for a long time, switched to the isle it's just way better but the devs are currently delusional
Evrima has been out for at least 3 years and the game still can’t stop stuttering every few seconds when playing (I got a really beefy computer, so it’s not on my end)
Plus their anti cheat or how they go about stopping cheating is absolutely abysmal. After an update, it takes about a week or two and cheaters start showing up again.
I love the game, but it is a dumpster fire sometimes and I don’t know if these devs will ever shape up.
I know some of the devs are good and like doing what they do, but that is bogged down by other issues in the team.
I loved the isle for a long time...could not stand the devs though.
Bro the game is so much fun and I didn’t research it and I play this “ abandon version” and just don’t look at the bad people
I think that the Isle are truly a survivor game, you born starving as some orphan baby, you have to learn everything by yourself unless you have experience player with you or that you have seen some context of 'The isle' but really I don't like "Hacking" too. It's just stupid for a survivor game and that show how skill issue you are when doing this hack and unfair.
the devs of the isle are trash, some of the worst i ever saw. dondi is a crying baby and get mad when players complain about something. they dont care to players opnion and will keep killing the game. they focused so much in immersion that they forgot to actually care for their game.
really, even thinking of helping the hackers to ruin dondi. But you lost me when you said misgendering me
Fair enough and I'm sorry you feel that way. I've always had a fairly rough voice for a lady but having people mock you for it or call you a man does tend to get old quite fast.
@@ADevReviews I am not happy with the woke culture and that sounded like a woke term , its them being assholes if they mocked you for your voice.
@@ketslaketsl3486 Yeah that woke stuff is cancer
Path of titans has just surpassed the Isle, if you want to have fun, just play PoT
(The isle is fun ik, this is my my assessment after playing 50 hours of playing both)
That's my assessment after over 500 hours in both (roughly so in PoT, 1.5k in isle)
@@IndominusRex-wc1eyDude that does not look healthy lol
@@pilot_bruh576 I have a lot of free time
Hate this game! I do have 1200 hours on it though.
realist comment
Well said my friend
You’re a game dev. Make a better game and put them out of buisness. lol
Thats only half a joke. The Isle would crumble if it had any real competition by a crew of real devs who act like adults.
I would love to have a good humans vs Dinosaurs survival game
I honestly prefer legacy to evrima
Legacy is my go to, i check out beta every once in a while but if legacy is ever dropped well then no more isle for me.
Never played on Legacy but everything I read online is that Legacy is basically dead.
its a 20 dallor game what did you think you where getting for 20 a working game thos where 60 plus so be grateful the games 20$ not 60$ yes games boring yes alot of cheaters thats who ruined it cheaters not the isle devs yes they didnt help but you paid 20 dallors and it works but their cheaters happen why not complian i a vidoe and make your own game i would support you but all i see are vidoes like this complaining your right but 20$ complain again why not make your own game
Hey, I actually am making my own game, you can see some devlogs about it here on this channel!
"evirma" lmao learn 2 read kid
troll
@YourAverageSpy955 regardless on if they had to start from scratch, evrima's about to have its 4th birthday, 5th birthday of active development
u should try path of titans. its the isle but better and the launcher is alderon games
but sound design is questionable and feels robotic there not the same path has its place just as the isle has its place
Just play Path of Titans. Dondi is a prick and doesn't deserve the games success
The Devs know they don't need to finish the game because people will brainless support the devs and the devs can just do nothing with it and keep fake promises
It will be 2030 and I bet this game will still be in "Beta"
I seriously do wish you could play better games and do something more usefull with your spare time rather playing a game with terrible security issues and basically a glorified waiting simulator, your time on this world is limited and you spend it watching 8 hours of your dinossaur doing nothing
@@AmoniPaleoI would also like to point out that there's over 20 developers on this game (lmao)
It's if anything one of the bigger teams on an indie game rlly ever
@@IndominusRex-wc1ey 20 DEVS????? Any Indie team would love to have that amount of people working on their game.
There is 20 devs and the game is still bare bones this is really infuriating and yet hilarious.
Dondi is trash
just go play POT its way better than the isle. that game is for people who hate themselves
Evirma? Lol. Ev-ri-ma. It's not a difficult word. Pronounced Ev-ruh-muh, its Greek.
Yeah I realized that after the fact, lol. Dyslexia at it's finest.
Bro who cares DINOSAURS
