Phenomenal player! Massively talented and has serious wheels. Watched him play for the AB's when they played England at Twickenham a few years back and he was a stand out player. Would be great to see him play in the English Premiership one day.
As an (objective) French fan, I can’t understand why he’s not the main AB fullback. Barrett could start at 10 and Mo’unga would be devastating coming off the bench. DMac is really overlooked for all his talent.
It’s due to the ridiculous talent the Kiwis have at full back. Jordie Barrett is playing some incredible rugby , there is also will Jordan. Beauden isn’t even guaranteed a starting position for the Blues when he returns from Japan. Beauden’s best hope of playing for the All blacks might actually be at 10.
It’s mostly due to injury. He had about a year out with a knee injury which put him out of the World Cup and he lost his all black spot. McKenzie has a great combination with Beauden for the all blacks. ABs were at their best when they were both on the field. Beau and Richie never quite clicked even though they have had a number of tests together. McKenzie should have got more time for the ABs last year after his injury comeback . The chiefs were bad but McKenzies individual form was great.

He plays really good rugby in New Zealand but I think he just falls short of what you'd expect from an AB fullback. He doesn't have the same skill and vision of say Ben Smith.

Mckenzies quite a different breed, Wilson was a habana Type player but more of a versatile player, Mckenzies like what Mike jones Sr said, Russell the pocket rocket.
