Started off as a brash young player with a tendency to needlessly taunt the opposition. He then transformed himself into our incumbent centre. His offensive threat have never dulled and his defense evolves each year. What a story of talent tempered by maturity - we're blessed to have him
In 2017, Rieko Ioane was the best winger in world rugby. Ever since he’s switched to playing as a center he’s added more to his game and his pace is there whenever he needs it. He’s a gem of a player.
I’ve been watching Reiko since he hit the 7’s circuit as a 17yr old. Used to give me anxiety the way he put the ball down. It was only a matter of time before he lost control of ball over the line - and he did. He’s learned his lesson. True speed and the best thing he did was go to centres. Got the pace to burn anyone so the have that on the inside as a winger, must be awesome. Good to see he’s developed the ability to read play and pass the ball with great timing and vision.
My favourite player. Power, speed and confidence. He takes some crap, especially being in the midfield now, but the reality is he is developing really nicely and is the number 1 pick for midfield and would be one the first names on the team sheet for big games for a reason. Some of you may have seen the clip with Nic Gill, the ABs strength and conditioning coach, saying Reiko is the fastest in the team and broncos & yoyos as well as the guys in the 80kg range, whilst he is 107kg. Not so many attacking plays these days, but you see a lot of great defense from him. Of course, the haters will conveniently ignore all this.
Been very glad to see him mature as a player. When he first came on the scene he was quite cocky but made a fair few errors. I wondered if he'd share the fate of other NZ centers that couldn't last in the ABs as they lacked the all around game. But credit to him he has kept getting better. And his acceleration is absolutely legendary, one of the best sprinters out the gate that rugby has ever seen. Will be stunning to see him with Leicester Fainganuku outside!
His speed isnt just surprising to opposition midfielders - its outright terrifying. Incredibly difficult to defend against a 12 who runs faster than most 11/14s
He's still a work in progress, and not as reliable as Conrad Smith was, but he can break a line open like few others, and for that reason alone he's a bolt in. Havili isn't even close.
I have him in my head as similar to George North in terms of world class winger moved to 13 with potential defensive positioning questions. But to be honest I haven’t seen enough super rugby/ rugby championship to be a fair judge
Reiko could be a world class centre if he can work on his upper body strength so he can offload and pass better. Dont forget when Nonu first started he was written off and then become on the worlds best centre. Needs to get tips from Sonny Bill and the Professor
For me, Rieko has come of age and is the cornerstone of the All Blacks backline. I put him in the same class as Conrad smith. His name doesn't often come up when pundits talk about world best centre's which I'm glad about going into a world cup, underrate Rieko at your peril.
Mate he's had 1 good game in 2 years in the black jersey. He's a good player but I wouldn't have him in the black jersey in big games, he's not even close to world's best centre or new Zealands
@@RalphinAintEasyagree and to hear someone say he is in the same class as Conrad smith makes me laugh and chuckle so hard that I spit my false teeth out jst thinking about it lol
If only he started to chip and chase... No one would catch him and he wouldn't have to worry about trying to run around defenders. Rico Gear did this to great effect in his day.
Reiko does so much off the ball. That's what coaches, players and people who analyse the game say. Maybe the ABs haven't utilised him perfectly on attack, but on defense he seems to be a smart cookie. And his pace, when given opportunity hasn't diminished.
@@RalphinAintEasy None of them have played 13 in the ABs Why would you want someone that hasn’t played 13 to be picked over the best 13 we currently have?

Yeah you obviously don't know what you're on about. Has all the skills at centre.. and is still getting better. If we don't have him and centre we're not winning this world cup
@Erock1275 how am I hater when I said he’s the top 5 wingers out there yet he ain’t even playing there lol I’m just saying he ain’t as good of a centre and to be honest yoy ain’t got the greatest selection of centres atm so maybe that’s why they’ve put him there.

@@AJ-lq3jz If Rieko eventually matures into the equivalent of Ma'a Nonu, then we're double-blessed. 2015 Ma'a Nonu was the best 12 on the planet.

In this WC, feeding Leicester Fainganuku outside him he will be reminding everyone of SBW. All aboard the assist train!
No he takes crap because of this stupid tall poppy syndrome we have in NZ.
I'm irish but Rieko is my favourite of all time he's my idol
I wanna play like him when I'm older
not before Lomu bro
@@heaty007 If he's my favourite it's opinion based
it took a couple of years of transition but from one of most prolific wings he has become one of the best 13's in the game

Rieko is my man. Love the way he plays Congratulations and keep it up😅
God keep this boy injury free.... he's going to have a super RWC.... I know it...I feel it
Beautiful editing my friend. Thank you
Please keep making all blacks cinematics like this they are amazing
One of, if not the best 13 running around atm.
Un magnifique joueur, explosif et physique, une belle mentalité et ne lâchant rien!
one of the quickest in the game when he engages the afterburners

Leicester better lose some weight or have a haircut because he'll struggle to keep up!

Unreal to think hes only 26
He will be a legend by the end of career if he stays healthy

Just loved this video. The clips and especially the background music, just perfect.
A talented young man caused havoc on wing has transitioned into an intrical midfield partnership with the Abs long may it reign

He’s my favourite player of all time ,I promise you
he really stepped up his game in 2021 after heavy criticism in 2020, now he's a world class 13
Speed master 🔥
He's come of age.. He's got so much potential and he hasn't hit his prime yet
i think he has, he’s just got a freakishly long one

I know right, which is heartening - because he continues to grow and demonstrates room for growth. He'll be a pillar come 2027 RWC

Rieko Ioane is top shelf
He was the youngster allblacks wing and is now a beats at center
Most potent attack threat in world rugby
When you put acceleration in turbo mode you'll be gone - Reiko Ioane speed is unmatched ❤️🇼🇸
🐐 legend 💪
KING!!!!!
My boi you're a freak 🔥👑
My guy...💯💫
He might have a challenging time with the Springboks midfield pair this weekend.
I’d love see a team with Rieko at 13 and 11, they would make a good pair 😂
he can do that as well in a game

Rieko is fast & strong with ball in hand but Beauden is faster chasing down ball carrier's & grubber kicks plus speed as ball carrier to score tries

He should be a winger he doesn't pass the ball enough at 13 and adds no punch
