I came back from Ahmedabad like a few weeks ago and I miss Gujarat already. The people are just loving there. I love it there.
India is the only country in the world where u can find both Tigers (Sundarban, West Bengal) and Lions (Gir, Gujarat) naturally i.e. not in zoo
The 4 big cats of the feline kingdom namely the Asiatic Cheetah, the Asiatic Leopard, the Asiatic Lion, and the Bengal Tiger have co-existed in India in their natural habitats for thousands of years.
Sadly with the death of the last remaining population of the Asiatic cheetah in India in 1952, the species was declared extinct in India; it is the only animal in recorded history to become extinct from India due to unnatural causes. Efforts are being made by the Indian govt to clone Asiatic Cheetahs from their remaining population in Iran and reintroduce them in India.
Now India's big cats include the Bengal Tiger, The Asiatic Leopard, The Asiatic Lion and the Snow Leopard. India is also home to the Clouded Leopard population.

@nick p Karnataka, in the South, has abundant tiger population in the thick forests of Bandipur and Nagarahole. Look up Bandipur Tiger Preserve in Karnataka ( bandipurtigerreserve.in ). Thanks to the efforts of Karnataka Forest Department, tigers in Bandipur and Nagarahole are preserved and protected.. and are roaming around the forests.

Such a concentration of lions is v ery precariously placed - vulnerable to diseases and inbreeding leading to their extinction. The central government has many times offered to take some lions and rehabiliate them in MP to protect a small population in case of a sudden epidemic among the Gir lions but Gujarat wants to hang on to them at the cost of their possible extinction

I'm from Ahmedabad, the main city of Gujarat and Mumbai is about 500 Kms from here, a 40-45 minutes flight Away.
Somnath temple is about 400 kms from Ahmedabad, so is Kutchh
And Gir Forest is about 300 Kms.
A little info, Guajarat is a dry state (sorry Korbin)

I am from Gujarat. I have not been back home for 18 years. I came to US in 86 as a teenage and went back only one time. I had given up on Indian cinema from 86 to pretty much recently. I have seen few movies on Netflix lately and getting to know all the new actors and actresses. I enjoy your show to decide if I should watch the new movies. I had been just watching movies from 70s and 80s before so you are my new go to stop to find out which movies that are on Netflix I can watch. I have been amazed by the storyline changes that have happened since 80's. I know some of the stories that are done today would never ever have made it back then. Keep up the good work.

@rick i am from Gujarat. Gujarat happens to have to longest coastal line in entire India. Its not tooooo far from mumbai however cant be said its very near. The southern Gujarat is just 5 to 6 hours road journey from mumbai. However Gir forest, or Somnath Temple takes a full day road or train journey from Mumbai

8:45 Distance between Mumbai and Ahmedabad (main city in Gujarat) is 524km which takes about 9 hrs by car.
From Surat (another important city in Gujarat) it's only 280km and takes 5hrs by car.
The Tourism Boards of different states have started hiring Hindi actors for their ads despite the actor not having any personal link with the state. They're just the face of that state's tourism!

It's 50 minutes flight to bhuj,Gujarat from Mumbai.from bhuj you cn go to kutch white desert on full moon day to see the white sand . It's just awesome. Nov to Feb is the right time.v11

It is 6 hours by train from Mumbai or 1 hour flight to its major city Ahmedabad which is closer to the places in the Ad.

Best time to visit these places would be in Winter (Nov to Feb)

It is a hour flight from Mumbai. And the Gir forest is in Gujarat only not near Assam. It is in "Junagadh". You can find it easily on Google maps.
