it.
What an incredible story teller. The way that he shuffles in Faye's voice and mannerisms and everything is brilliant. I'm going to try to check out more of his stuff.
Joshua Morriston he was the highlight of Mad TV, and Austin Powers ran him over on a steamroller
absolutely! those damn stuart skits!!!!!!!!! damn it took me a minute to realize this was stuart
look what he can do
His Mad TV character, Stewart, always cracked me up
Michael is brilliant! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Dwendele
LOOK WHAT I CAN DO... !
NOOOOOOOO...!
I had dinner with Michael McDonald and some others after one of his shows here in NYC, and he couldn't have been nicer. We had a great time laughing.
He seems like the coolest celebrity ever
He seems like he would be pretty funny and chill naturally. And like the boys too lol
Ok well maybe you should be an actor cuz that was a great lie
No you didnt
@@iwasonceaDJ Oh really?
Michael McDonald on Mad TV was one of the greatest male sketch comedians of all time, right up there with John Cleese, Phil Hartmann, or Bill Hader. He never broke character (try to find a clip of him breaking during a sketch...you can’t). He had a massive range of accents and characters. Plus he worked for longer on his show than any sketch comedian I can think of. A total legend.
I’ve watched multiple scenes where he broke on madtv especially with let me do it character
Uhm…while I agree w/most of what you said about McDonald, it should be noted that:
1) Debra Wilson was the original cast member with the longest run on MadTV (8 seasons), and
2) she only left due to sexism & racism in pay disparity (white, male actors with less tenure we’re getting paid more than she was)
Macdonald and gang was an iconic moment in comedic tv history
I totally agree with you
Will Ferrell
I appreciate how even though he got nothing from it he still helped her all the way through.
*He lives in a society.*
Bottom text
She did not pay him because she was a failing actress acting out of desperation... She cannot do comedy on purpose... And yes the society is the problem.

same here .. i watched that show faithfully
Between him on mad tv and Jim Carrey on in living color... Man! Me in middle school fasho! 😆
Michael McDonald is such an underrated comedic genius
It's really touching seeing how much empathy he showed her towards the end
Michael McDonald was in Austin Powers as the henchman that gets squished by a steamroller
Wow! Theres a fun fact for em 👊 fucken loved that movie way back haha
One of the funniest gags in the movie too haha
I wonder if he had to audition 😂
Is it a speaking role?
Reuben Walton Yes

DaBirdman1989 right!! I remember as a kid asking for the magazine just so I could keep up with it lol
Michael- You nailed this. I can actually SEE this happening in my head as you tell the story. I know that comics will embellish stories to make them funnier, but I'm guessing this is totally accurate.
I just saw this two years later.
Ytube suggested it & for me it was a really cool story. Even tho I don't know Fay Dunaway or the guy in the vid.
It just seems absolutely like I imagine Faye Dunaway would be. Just imperious, high-handed, larger-than-life. Great story.
yes but according to quentin Tarantino bruce willis acts like this too
I know what you mean. He wasn't mimicking her voice or anything, but just the cadence and staccato delivery he chose . . . I could almost *see* Faye's blonde hair whirling around his face, especially when he did that cackling laughter!
Faye Dunaway opens up about her bipolar disorder diagnosis in her new documentary, it kinda explains hers weirdness over the years
I absolutely love his delivery, this was one of the best performed stories of this series.
TheJeffreyJJones i phucking l💘ve him👍👍
TheJeffreyJJones and saddiq
Joey Diaz.....
With this series I thought they were going to be different lines.....
kaykay12152 exactly that was the whole reason I played it wanted to here a coke story from Stewart
Same
Rufus T. Firefly Why do people think this was going to be on the topic of cocaine when it said "Famous" in the intro? Comedians come and talk about a topic. The entire season isn't about the same topic. Am I missing something?
I stopped for drug reference and stayed for the odd Hollywood tale.
austin4x it’s the title you see before the intro card it’s still a great story but seriously
How is this guy not a bigger star? This was brilliant.
he's pretty well known!
I recently went to Universal Studios and started laughing to myself when we drove by the little bungalows 😂 couldn’t help thinking of that lucky tour group!
I'm going around!
"I'M STUCK BEHIND A UNIVERSAL STUDIOS TOUR TRAM" I'm done lmao 😂😂😂😂
I thought this was going to be a Michael McDonald cocaine story..
Silvertoner same.
Ya me too!
Mike was a heroin guy mostly IIRC
Really?
austin4x don't condescend. You know every one skips to the set.
this is one of the best ones of the series, his delivery is impeccable. and hes aged so well.
He is such a great performer...I loved his characters...
Honestly, this is my favorite story in this series . I've seen them all. This story is a beautiful glimpse into madness and admiration. It feels surreal. It's amazing that he helps her knowing it's for nothing.
hatan sail For nothing? He got a story out of it!
This story is so well told, moving, special for some reason

The advice Michael McDonald gave to Faye in the end of the story was completely and utterly epic. how could one not get pumped up for an audition hearing those words
No matter how old he or I get, everytime I see his face all that comes to my mind is "Stewart!"🤣🤣🤣🙌🏽
"Michael! Do the lines!"
"No-o-o-o-o..."
i half expected Mo to come running in screaming *_STEWART!!_*
This makes me miss being a twelve year old watching MAD TV...love you michael
Michael McDonald, Will Sasso, Bobby Lee so good on MadTV.
Post Sasso
Oh that’s who this is.. I recognize him now..
MAD TV had a very strong cast. IMHO, cast vs cast, MAD TV had way more talent than In Living Color. Both shows had great moments though .
Will sasso before he lost weight... He lost his essence with his weight lol
Aries Spears, Jordan Peele, Nicole Sullivan, Nicole Parker, Arden Myrin.
Don't just pick the white dudes bra.....the black folks were actually way more talented and better at impressions, but simply didn't get the cred they deserved.
Mom as an extra saw Faye doing coke to stay awake on Towering Inferno. A great last of the old school actress.
McDonald and Sasso are hands down the funniest two from Mad TV. True comedic legends
i think Mo Collins is a lot funnier than Sasso! and same with Debra Wilson

Michael McDonald needs to come back to TV man he is sorley missed
I agree. Him and Will Ferrell would make an interesting combo.
@@MountTheodore72 Nah. He, Will Sasso, and Aries Spears need to do something together. Michael's comedy wouldn't jive with Ferrell's imo.
Mt. Theodore Alan will ferrell is trash imo
Love Michael McDonald. One of the greatest, really. Always wish I'd see him in more movies. He's hysterical.
Thanks Faye Dunaway for writing this story. Michael McDonald does a great job telling it.
Faye still has that Mommy Dearest energy from the sound of it.
One word: AMAZING! In this stand up I can understand why Michael is a master of comedy; the mellow storytelling that builds up and becomes funnier as it progresses... I always loved Michael in madtv but this bit makes me understand more about his Character and passion for comedy. Thank you Michael for all the laughs you've brought your audience throughout the years.
this is so oddly wholesome.
This guy has given me so many hours of joy, hard to explain how that makes me feel. Would love to meet him someday!
His Faye laughs are priceless
And his expressions, his rolling eyes, those frantic hands!
He momentarily *BECOMES* her!
14:37 "She's keeping me and I don't know why..."
Every little bit of delivery is so perfect. I love this more than any other This is Not Happening!
His impression of Faye, sounds a lot like the professor from Futurama.
"I'm your host-"
*skip skip skip*
That's rude
@@IDK-kv8ob shouldve made a better intro or a shorter intro or better yet, not spoil the punchline of the story at the beginning of every video.
I actually served coffee to Faye Dunaway once, she was stern and expectant but polite, like in the vid.
It was a hair dressers in central London that had a cafe in it because it was so posh, her hair cut cost £300 (about $400) but asked for a discount on her salad because she was famous. She also had scales with her to weight how much chicken was in her ceasar salad and asked for the exact same amount more free of charge. Other than that she was actually really polite
Scales. 🤔
Cool to see this. I love Michael. He was a stud MadTV cast memeber. He's such an improv guy. The picture this paints of Faye Dunaway being some self important old guard Hollywood superstar is too priceless.
This ages like fine wine!
It kind of REALLY bugs me that she never paid him for what he did. She just used him. But he seemed ok with it.
My guess is she forgot because she was so crazed, but yeah. Not cool.
So.. he did not get paid? I wanted to kn now if she ever called back..😟
I felt that frustration too. In entertainment, you are always abused and misused and discarded, even if the people who used your talents or services extracted what they wanted from you. Art is an amorphous product, not mathematical, and I KNEW that he was going to get fucked from his early tone. People like megastars just forget that era in their lives when money mattered more than love or life.
Yes actors do that
In lots of careers one is encouraged to take some abuse just for the benefit of having more connections. Maybe most of these will be a waste of your time and effort, but a few will come back to help one day.
oh u wana skip the intro? 1:01, welcome
This comment should be pinned.
But the intro is hilarious.
Thank god someone else agrees. Like holy fuck these intros are..not just bad, they're hard to even watch
i'll just say it..... ARI DID BETTER INTROS
Intros are usually stupid
Who else googled Fay dunnaway after
Go watch Network. You'll never forget.
Yep
Dude, Chinatown.
She's a legend. VERY bitchy and mean, nasty tempered but definitely a legend.
Three Days of the Condor
You could tell he was nervous but this was one of the best things I've ever seen on TH-cam. I miss MadTV so much.
Damn he’s such a good story teller.
Someday an entire documentary will be nothing but Faye anecdotes. There's got to be thousands.
Starting to suspect that the character of Moira Rose, from Schitt's Creek is based on Faye Dunaway. In other news, I will now be randomly saying do the lines! for the rest of the day.
Florinda Lucero 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Now that you mention it, I believe you are correct.
Michael's storytelling capability is (unsurprisingly) hilarious and incredible! I think it's fascinating that even the legendary Faye Dunaway had to audition for a role *and* was nervous about it. It's lovely how he helped her.
Why does this Faye give me like Currela De Vil vibes

Awwww what a sweet little story that shows he is hilarious, smart, wise and just as awesome in real life as he was on mad tv.
Michael McDonald, the GOAT of sketch comedy.
Wow, maybe one of the best storys in the series! Dude is SO funny! He has amazing skill telling his comedic anecdotes
Th big question is though, did she get the part?! Did the movie get made? Was it any good?! You can't leave us hanging like that!
Dokka Chapman Well she plays an alcoholic in the Comedy Barfly so I guess!
She's also in a comedy called Drunks that's came out in 1995.
That's what i wanted to know to.....heh
Probably that one, since leprechaun 2 came out in '94.
Easy enough to Google Faye Dunaway and Bette Midler, if I spelled those right lol. Goggle will fix it anyway lol

Michael mcdonell ,you are brilliant , wow story well told..I've got a smile ear to ear..thank you
The Movie HAS to be “That Old Feeling”
“Drunks” was an Indy Drama , and First Wives club was not a Universal Studios film.Bete Midler stars in the Movie, and the actress who got the part was Jayne Eastwood as “Aunt Iris”, especially because it was the only elderly role.
I was thinking it was Barfly. She clearly knew how to play a drunk back in 1987.
I think the audition was for the part of Rowena. I can't see her playing Aunt Iris in 1997.
At that time Fay just finished filming Dunstan Checks In. I've must have watched that monkey movie a billion times when I was 5yrs-old.
Back then Fay was still goodlooking enough to be Rowena. Today she looks like a Hannya mask.
That was actually a really sweet story and I almost cried near the end....
I’ve been in his exact type of position and I can see his frantic frustration. And his true caring nature. He’s awesome.
Golden. The man knows stage performance and storytelling, brilliant.
