The original My Bloody Valentine is amazing, The Miner is such a iconic horror slasher.
There's several great films that never spawned sequels. The Prowler and Madman are just a couple that come to mind.
But the lack of sequels also means that the original character remains intact and iconic. Personally I'm glad that these films didn't turn into yearly cash grab sequel factories.

My Bloody Valentine was awesome! I especially like the uncut version as well. It's much gorier than the theatrical cut.
Saw this last night at my local theater, a one night (stand) retro screening. Last time I saw this in a theater setting was a Drive-in, the year it came out, double billed with Friday the 13th Part 2. 💘
I saw MBV at a drive in with Friday 13th part 2 as well. Good times.
Truly one of my most favorite Slashers of all time.
To bad you didn't watch the uncut version with all of the full kills that weren't shown in the theaters.
They are so much more gruesome and you get to see Sylvia fully impaled on the shower pipe and the other gore of the kills.
The setting of the town and mine and the decorations and the miners jumpsuit helmet and pickax added so much more to the film that made it truly terrifying.

This is one of my favorites! I was 8yrs old when it came out and it had to have been my Dad that I watched it with because I know it wasn't my Mother. Check out 1981's April Fools Day. It's good also. I've watched horror movies forever.

The guy whose body is hung as everyone is climbing up the ladder, is Howard, the guy who ran away when they all found Hollis dead.
You should watch the uncut version next year along with the 2009 remake! The uncut version puts this movie on another level. The kills are awesome in their full bloody glory.
Those miner outfits were perfectly made for the slasher genre when convenient outfits of the time are used for murder. This movie is a classic in my eyes and the miner was a very creative killer. I honestly would love if this movie got a sequel cause the killer was never killed so they could totally do one.

That same year the same producers made Happy Birthday to Me, which is more of a whodunnit/melodrama slasher about privileged prep schoolers with dark secrets. You two will love it.

They are all Canadian, not Irish. This is a Canadian movie. the remastered cut has about two minutes they were forced to cut in the original.

I've got the extended version with 9 minutes of gore originally cut, reinstated back. The gossiper say online that there a longer cut still hidden somewhere. React to the remake, totally worth it.
Evidently the gore was cut because of John Lennon’s murder a couple of months earlier.
I heard the studio destroyed most of the cut footage and they were lucky to find those 9 minutes.
