I've wasted so much time on youtubers playing it just not paying attention, and focusing on their chat followers instead. Looking forward to this one though, seems promising.
Great playthrough so far. A few tips without spoilers. Craft as much as possible earlier, don't wait until you'll need to do so. Keep, save one shiv at all times for opening doors with goodies inside the room. Headshot as much as possible. Clickers use echolocation to hear you. Best to throw a brick or bottle to distract or send attention away from you. They can also be used against enemies when low on ammo. Make sure to reload weapons often. When finding items stating FULL, reload weapons and craft to make room for those ammo/items. Good luck!!

I love the part at 1:44:19 where Tess looks back at Ellie, then at Joel, and with the most serious of expressions, tells him, "I get it." She knew from the beginning what Joel's issue was, perhaps before even he did.
i noticed too at 1:20:36 you can see Tess make that connection before Marlene finishes speaking, and almost looks like she is anticipating Joel's backlash to the plan

Much like many of my other favorite games, I keep finding "first playthroughs" for The Last of Us. It's the closest I can get to experience the game(s) for the first time again myself. Just started watching your playthrough and I hope you'll enjoy this brilliant piece of storytelling in a videogame-format.
Just jumped in on this video. This game is an absolute gem. The best video game story you will ever experience. Just a few spoiler-free tips: -infected cannot see your flashlight but humans can - always craft stuff when you can so you have extra room for more supplies - shivs are precious. Don't waste them on stealth kills unless you need to take down a clicker quietly. Try to save them for locked doors. You'll be grateful you did - always take your time searching areas for supplies and notes except in rare spots where you need to run - try to find food before using health kits after a fight. You can't save food items for later use - upgrade your holsters ASAP. It's invaluable to have quick access to extra weapons - crafting speed and faster breath kits aren't the most useful skill upgrades. Save pills for health increase, shivmaster and weapon sway - bow and arrows are great for stealth but not open combat
This intro is tragically amazing and hits so deep 17:00 . The amazing acting, sounds, and graphics just make it almost too real. I don't think any game has a more heartbreaking scene than this when Joel loses Sarah. It's great to see people's first-time reactions to this intro cause it's such an emotional roller coaster that gets you ready to try and be Joel in the world to come.
Loving the playthrough so far, I'm somewhat going into the story blind. I have never played/watched anyone play the the first game, only the 2nd 🫣. Can't wait for the next episode!
A tip with bricks and bottles, throw them at your enemy to stun them and then melee them, its a quick way to kill them.Also try not to alert them with throwing bottles around them it's easier to sneak up on them when they are not alerted.
Great job so far! Love when people actually try to play the game properly and get into the story. Keep exploring your surroundings! Pay attention to the tips the game gives you. Take your time and plan your attacks. Headshots are always good, but a well placed leg shot can make things easier for you too if they’re running at you. Remember to look on top of trucks here and there too. Excited for this one. Hopefully you continue on to Part 2
I'm in. I already love that you have the black depth right. I can see Joel's shoe color when he walks in the door of his house at the start. One of the best stories ever told in a game.
I have platinumed both TLOU 1&2 and watched many many playthroughs since. I watched you for 30 mins and subscribed as you are playing this PERFECTLY. So thorough and very attentive to info and details. Refreshing to see patience! You were upset about that office you missed, but you didn’t miss anything. I know every inch. When you are playing with a partner (Tess etc) don’t focus on following them or worry about them following you. Go off the obvious paths as you have and you will be rewarded. Since you are so thorough, my only tip is only use sprint when getting away from something. Pressing L1 will cause you to miss pickup prompts. In other words, take your time and check cabinet, drawer, car, vending machine etc. And you don’t need to hold listening mode when you see beings in front of you. Only when you can’t figure out where they are. Look forward to seeing more! Be very careful about SPOILERS. There are many idiots that will ruin it for you. Especially in Part 2… which you will want to do immediately after this. 😉
Just finished this ep and wanted to add on. Just saying again that you are going too fast when looting. Like when you used a shiv to open that room and wondered why there was hardly anything there.. if you looked slower, you would have collected all the tools and supplements etc on the shelves… then the meeting room was nothing… but stuff right on the table if you stopped crouching. If your friends are standing, you can stand. Runners can see and hear just like uninfected. Clickers cannot see because they are older and growth blocks eyes. But they have very sharp hearing. Cannot make a sound near a clicker. Have fun!
I've watched numerous playthroughs of this but I am more than happy to watch it again lol. Part of the fun is the person playing and seeing them experience it for the first time. It really is a great game and story

In the Clicker stage and beyond, the person is under the complete control of the fungus (the person is gone). The runners are kind of trapped in their bodies. Sometimes, you can hear some crying while they are attacking (they're forced to take a back seat, so to speak, and watch as their bodies rip you apart.) I've also noticed that, sometimes, right as they notice you, they'll swipe with their arms when they're nowhere near you. Like they're trying to shoo you away before the fungus takes over and they give chase. When I play, I kill the Clickers without remorse. The runners, though, I don't feel bad because I feel I'm releasing them from the trauma they have to endure every day. I feel bad for them, so I give them the only thing that can relieve their suffering. The sweet relief of death.
My favourite game of all time, I absolutely loved watching you play through the start of the game. My Playstation controller had connection issues so I'm using my gamepad, which is built like a PS controller but has the button outlay of an XBOX controller! :D
It's really unfortunate that the PC port has had so many problems. Another player was experiencing crashes. She lowered the graphics quality and that didn't help. She lowered the frame rate, and then it ran much smoother, with less crashing and lagging.

Love the playthrough you are doing. Just one small request: Either limit the amount of spinning around that you are doing with Joel, or if it's possible make some adjustment to that stick's sensitivity on the controller. Might be giving some people watching this motion sickness in the process.
Such a great game.... Remember, even though you're crouched, the faster you move, the louder you move... You gotta crouch sloooooooow when near the clicking bastards.

Never played a game that showed how awful people can be in times of desperation and the violence is some of the most realistic and visceral I've ever seen.
Given how long it took for the PC version to be in a somewhat playable state, I don't think you even really wasted any time in waiting. Even now I'd say the performance is not all that great for what it offers visually, but at least the majority of issues has been somewhat resolved by now. Not sure if you plan to do a reaction series for the show (which I definitely recommend) as well, but I'd recommend to play through both games (and don't forget the DLC for Part 1) before jumping into the show in any way. There's not just a few references for Part 2 in it, but I also think it hits emotionally much harder knowing the full story.

The game was released on the PS3 in 2013, remastered in 2014 for the PS4 and remade the whole game from the bottom up for PS5/PC this year.
Theres 3 different copies they remastered it for each generation of playstation ps3/4/5

Just as a tip, try not to use shivs on humans or runners, you can just strangle them. They come in handy for locked doors & clickers.
But then I can't enjoy the clicker deaths. I find them therapeutic for every wasted shiv I see.

Love the playthrough you are doing. Just one small request: Either limit the amount of spinning around that you are doing with Joel, or if it's possible make some adjustment to that stick's sensitivity on the controller. Might be giving some people watching this motion sickness in the process.

Never played a game that showed how awful people can be in times of desperation and the violence is some of the most realistic and visceral I've ever seen.
Given how long it took for the PC version to be in a somewhat playable state, I don't think you even really wasted any time in waiting. Even now I'd say the performance is not all that great for what it offers visually, but at least the majority of issues has been somewhat resolved by now. Not sure if you plan to do a reaction series for the show (which I definitely recommend) as well, but I'd recommend to play through both games (and don't forget the DLC for Part 1) before jumping into the show in any way. There's not just a few references for Part 2 in it, but I also think it hits emotionally much harder knowing the full story.
