    The reason for the size of Chukchansi Park (Fresno Grizzlies), is because it was built for Triple-A baseball.. but the whole upheaval of the Minor League system before the 2021 season, we were demoted to Single-A.

    • @mikelmart
      @mikelmart 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The Grizzlies were home to AAA team's franchises that won World Series 6 of ten years from 2010-2019. Three years for the Giants, one year for the Cubs, one year for the Astros and one year for the Nationals. If you want to win a a World Series bring your AAA franchise to Fresno.

    • @911NightRanger
      @911NightRanger 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Actually, we never had the Cubs AAA team. They have had the Iowa Cubs for a very long time.
      Fresno is now a Single-A Rockies affiliate, and have been doing quite well this season.

      @@911NightRanger My bad, the Cubs AAA franchise was not in Fresno, 5 out of 10 years ain't bad though.

      Yes, the Grizzlies were a part of their parent club's 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2017 championships.
      The Grizzlies also won the PCL and Triple-A Championships in 2015.

      I'm from southern California and the 66ers are the team down there, but now that I live here in fresno I love the grizzly stadium. It has an amazing view and the atmosphere is nice. Also good to see a ballpark where the outfield just doesn't end in dirt or a lot

    • @UnchainedAmerica
      @UnchainedAmerica 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      so did the city LOL

    • @TirepatchKing
      @TirepatchKing 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The original Grizzlies owners were concert/entertainment promoters and convinced the city to foolishly build a stadium that would also be a concert venue. It cost about twice as much as Raleys field in Sac-town that was built at the same time. Then the SaveMart Center was built on the Fresno State campus (you know, indoors and air conditioned) thus no real need for an outdoor venue downtown where no one lives... Now it's just an overgrown albatross on the city's tight budget.

    • @911NightRanger
      @911NightRanger 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The Chuk still draws great attendance.
      The demotion from AAA to A was MLBs idea, not ours.
      We had no choice to take the Single-A team or face having no team at all.
      Unfortunately, that meant that Lancaster, CA. had to lose theirs.

    • @df5295
      @df5295 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think there was a new AAA team in Sugarland, Texas for the Astros. This meant a AAA team had to get demoted. Fresno wanted to keep their AAA team and not get demoted to low A, but MLB threatened them that it was that or nothing.

    • @Padsquad2010
      @Padsquad2010 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They got bumped from AAA so they could add the St. Paul Saints. Saints became a Twins affiliate replacing the Rochester Red Wings. Red Wings became a Nationals affiliate, replacing the Grizzlies. Grizzlies left with nobody.
      And then they went to Low-A because that’s the only non-AAA level that had other CA teams. They replaced the Lancaster Jethawks there as the Rockies affiliate.
      So basically seems like a victim of circumstance in the restructuring. Just no good spot anywhere else.
