I never really thought about how difficult it would be to do eye makeup with glasses....
not that difficult if your set up is right. Just sit at a desk or close to a large mirror. Don't put your mirror on a coffee table lower than a couch and 1 meter away from your face

as someone with glasses it's truly a nightmare. I literally can not do eyeliner because i have to have my nose 1 inch away from any mirror to be able to see what i'm doing. I can't not smack my hand and/or eyeliner pencil against the mirror and it's totally miserable. i'm just that extremely nearsighted :'(
Believe me, it's pretty hard. Like you have to lean real close to the mirror to see what you're doing and then when you put on your glasses and see your whole face, you look verry different than you'd anticipated.

That's very true. Kristen has a lot of circumstantial disadvantages going for her. She has a bigger figure which makes it hard to thrift shop because like she said for a long time plus size fashion was useless. She wears glasses which makes putting makeup on pretty hard, and she also has quite deep-set/hooded eyes with a fairly small eyelid space, kinda thin lips and a bit of redness in her skin, which make putting on make-up technically more challenging. Also she's not as experienced with makeup. These need to be controlled for, you can't compare when there's no shared features. A bigger girl finding something second-hand and a stylist finding something new for a thin girl is not comparable. Not the price point, not the person, not the level of professionality.
(DISCLAIMER: I'm not saying being bigger or having thin lips or redness or smaller eyes is bad. It's just a fact that it is difficult to work with them. Thin or uneven lips for example can be a very unique attractive feature, but to paint them a bold color, you need a lot more precision and skill than to paint one that's thicker and more symmetric. A bigger figure can be dressed up really pretty, but if you go to a thrift store you're gonna find 15 gowns in Nina's size and 2 in Kristen's, just on a statistical basis from a sample of 15 Nina's gonna find a better fit then Kristen from a sample of 2.)

I would really love to see Kristin get professionally styled but with a more dramatic look. She always does very pretty and elegant things, but nothing ever too dramatic or out of her comfort zone.

Nina's hair is naturally layered and had some volume already from the start so the blowout didn't do much. I know a professionally-done blowout works wonders for me because my hair isn't has layered and is pin-straight. My hair looks really different after a blowout.
I find the price insane. I don't know how America is but I'm from Romania and I could get a blowout for like 2-4 dollars at certain salons

Also. Regarding previous comments, it depends on the stylist. Some buy the clothes themselves some (like high end celebrity red carpet stylists) get clothing from brands trying to promote their clothing. So the brands get themselves free advertisement by letting a celebrity wear their stuff. Most normal stylist do have to go out & find stuff themselves & buy it themselves to build up a style rack. Some let you keep the stuff, some don't.

I feel like if they wanted a better change factor, they should have given Kristen the stylist, since Nina already does her makeup pretty much the same as the pro did and Kristen isn't the greatest at doing makeup (no offense Kristen!). What this ended up doing was giving a pretty skilled person an extra boost and leaving a less-skilled person in the dust.

This is a terrible experiment. They should have done two looks for each girl, one diy and one stylist, and allowed us to compare. Kristen is plus size too, so the clothing experiences would differ on both women for shopping and how they are styled.

No, it’s the point of the video for it to be harder for one person, and the other gets the easier option.
You can’t really judge how much harder it is though? Obviously it is harder for the girl who did it herself because the other didn’t have to do anything. It should have been on the same girl so you could have compared the techniques and end looks of the girl, especially as these two look nothing a like so it is especially hard to tell which is actually a ‘better option’

Obviously if you compare someone who isn't good at getting dressed up to a professional the latter will look better. Nina should've gotten the professional and the other girl should have done her own to accurately determine if it's worth it.
As a fellow chubby gal, I would have loved to see the common struggles and if they could be solved with some money and professional help? For that you can go buy an outfit to keep, do your own hair and makeup, get your nails done, get drinks and food, get an Uber ride home &STILL have money the next morning.

The makeup artist replied to another comment explaining that she had used the beauty blender to test Nina's foundation colors.
Anyway it happens a lot in filming that they have to do multiple takes, from different angles, and with editing the final video might be out of order time wise. So the brushes, etc probably look like that from being used to put on Nina's own makeup.

Probably because of weight and looks because people can be assholes and hide it under concern. I like her approach to things, I have her level of makeup experience so seeing how she approaches something, or how she does gives me a realistic view as to how it will turn out for me, lol.
