In Orlando, home owners insurance has really gone up. I was paying about $3,600 a year. I got a new roof, fixed all issues, and got new inspections and my insurance went down to $2,800 a year. I live in a 1600 sq ft house near Winter Park. I pay $3,200 per year for property taxes and have had a homesteading exemption since 2016. It's not that cheap. Cassie should get a house in South Carolina near Columbia or Greenville.

      Thanks for the comment.
No, Orlando isn't a cheap place to live anymore but costs aren't the only factor when considering lifestyle.
As for South Carolina, Columbia is NOT my favorite place. I lived there for a few years in the early 90s and again in 2006. Unless you're a college student, there isn't much to do. Greenville on the other hand is absolutely beautiful, there's a great job market thanks to BMW, Michelin and others. While I never lived there it was always a favorite place to visit.
When you decide to pack up and move out of Winter Park, we'd be happy to help you sell that home AND get you a recommendation on a great agent in SC to help you find that dream home!

Sorry you had me at upstate NY. NYC is nice to visit but not live imho. Florida is too hot and humid. Of course a younger person is going to pick NYC or FL. I think many people in their 50s plus would pick the first home. Not just because its cheaper but less hassles and stress all around.

Yes, 100%. As I said, cost of living is JUST one factor. Side note: I'm going to visit Jamestown later this month, I am intrigued by owning something outside of Florida and might just look to buy there or somewhere else rural and slower paced for my retirement. Hope you got something out of the video! Thanks for commenting!

Is that home insurance really accurate I have friends whose combine property tax/home insurance is the same as my property tax/home insurance cost. about 6500 a year, They pay more in insurance ,I pay more in property taxes. They also have to replace their roof every 7 years to get insurance..

    • @moving-to-orlando-florida

Great question and YES, Homeowners insurance can be CRAZY in Florida. Yes, that number is correct for that house. There are many factors that impact HOI, age of roof, wind mitigation standards, windows, etc, etc. As for replacing roofs, they are good for 15 years in general not 7. Here in the greater Orlando area, we don't have it as bad as the coasts do. Thanks for the comment!!

Isn't amazing that it's always a divorced or single mother that typifies the American dream. Wouldn't it be nice if Cassie was teamed up with a loving productive husband instead of assuming the guy was a sleazeball?

Thanks for the comment. We didn't build a complete backstory, so I'm not sure if she's married, divorced or has any children. No intent was made to imply her marital status. Being a happily married man of 36 years, I am a big fan of the institution of marriage and know the value of a loving family.

@@Hansenwork we shot for accuracy, truth be told there's a lot of variables to all costs of living.
I hope we provided a bit of info for you, or at least a little entertainment.

Jamestown....FL is way too crowded, especially Orlando & crime is high, house and auto insurance is highest in the nation and these hurricanes are incurring more frequently and more intense. The schools are overcrowded. Plus we have the worst Gov. in the USA. He's a child and a member of the Trump Cult. He picks fights w/ Disney, paying FL taxpayer money to fly TX migrants to Martha's Vineyard & signing orders to make sure bridges are only lit up in red, white & blue (no rainbow colors...he hates the LBGTQ community.) I suggest moving to Ohio....it's a GREAT place to live.
