  • We Moved to Orlando five years ago. Watch this video to find out the 5 things we hate about Orlando - See What you're missing if you are thinking about moving to Orlando.
What's it like living in Orlando? First, it's the MOST Visited City in America, with over 75 million tourists in 2019, and most of them come for theme parks and resorts like Disney World, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld. Tropical temperatures here get really hot and humid in the Summer. While it's not the largest city in Florida, along with Jacksonville, Tampa, and other secluded vacation towns, it's one of the best cities to live in America. Many people are moving here from New York, Chicago, Texas, and California, making it one of the fastest-growing cities in the United States. If the Sunshine State is cheap with great beaches and weather, why shouldn't you live in Orlando, FL?
Despite these 5 reason we hate about Orlando, we love living here.
If you're looking to move to the Orlando area, We would love to be a resource. We have many families just like yours moving to Orlando.

I have been in Tampa for the last 2 years after leaving Atlanta. I work remotely, and traffic is bad in every city I've lived...EPASS is essential y'all. Moving there next year. I lived in Orlando back in 2002 but things were different then. Orlando has more options and events for people of color. We don't even have an R&B station in Tampa...smh

I plan my day and errands by the traffic patterns and avoid I-4 as much as possible. The recent discount for frequent users of tolls has helped commuters. I've lived in the humid parts of the South most of my life. At least around Orlando there's a bit of a breeze compared to where we used to live. The winter weather lasts a few weeks, is WONDERFUL IMO, but it's not long enough.

Tolls are a good thing guys. This is why. Our taxes for road maintenance is low. We use tolls to pay for the roads. Why is this good? Because orlando and the area has so many visitors and snow birds that don't pay tax here but use our roads so if it was tax based, the residents would be footing the bill for everyone else. So now you pay for roads you use. Simple as that.

I grew up in Orlando and I have to agree with 4 first reasons. The last one I agree but not for the same reasons. I prefer the winter instead of the muggy heat and rain everyday in the summer. I moved to Texas in 2014, I am not a fan of the ice/snow storms but I don’t mind the rest. I live in central Texas now and the town I live is small and the traffic is chefs kiss!

I love this video! Moving from Atlanta to orlando even with your cons Im not seeing it as cons. The traffic, the beach, there is not a beach closer than 4.5-5 hours of atlanta, we have tolls here in atlanta. Orlando is giving close to everything :) compared to where we are coming from. Great video!

Orlando is largely controlled by "The Mouse House", sadly. I live about 35 miles away from Orlando, but have been there many times for anything except for the theme parks. I much rather take extra time getting to a beach, and be more protected from hurricanes when they hit offshore. I hate the cold weather too, I love the deep south ya all. I could have the A/C on at home, but don't. Far better to embrace the heat and humidity, so when you go outside it isn't too bad. I do like store's A/C after locking up my e-bike. Then I get that blast of heat coming out. Oh well, I can live with it just fine.

  • @housemusicdancesession

WOW!! I don't hear anything that bad here!! Traffic!! There are so many other paces in America where traffic is awful, that's common. As for managing your time to get to places, that's common sense. I've been traveling to Orlando since 1995 just about every year. I understand the traffic situation VERY WELL. TOLLS!!! GASS!!! Common, I live in NYC/NJ there is not place that is worse. Parties!! Not important. WEATHER!! Yes, the rain storms and thunder storms, particularly in June and JULY, are insane. They usually come around noon, last for maybe 20-40 minutes, then the sun is back out and the Heat is back on. You can get soaked in a rai storm, but as soon as the sun comes back out, you dry-off in minutes. I live in the NY/NJ area, but Orlando is home away from home.

In a time when the economy across the board in the whole US was at it's best early 90's. When most infrastructure was brand new and clean. Especially Fl, Orlando always sucked. I was living in South Fla at time near Stuart. And we got some some great radio stations from Orlando that I liked.
WOMX Mix 105, 98.9 WMMO, WWLV Love 94.5 Daytona, Magic 107.7, Sunny 101.1 WSTF
from Cocoa Bch/ Space Coast, All 5 because of the Cent Fla radio towers all being 100kw at at least 1600 ft
    boomed into Stu.
And because its flat as a pancake except NW going toward Ocala. In Orl proper you got 4 more stations.
You get Tampa at time W-101 WUSA, Mix 95.7 , NW you get 98.5KTK, and used to be Ocala's 93.7 WMMZ Z-93. Before they blew it up and changed to country in 1994. How do I know? I was supposed to be their evening jock. Until they fired everyone incl my future boss. All 9 of these stations were Adult Contemp and Hot Ac stations.
Which was rare to have so many in any radio US market. Only SF, Pitt because they are both on hills,
    and Chicago had so many.
So spent a week up there about 100 miles nw of me by Stuart.
Check out the area see if I wanted to try it out. It was a huge disappointment. Outside the Orange Blossom Trail,
which kind of reminded me of Dade- NW 2nd Av between Palmetto and Broward line back then. 167th St and 215.
Poverty, and blight in Orlando never were camouflaged. It was the 1st Fl city that scared the hell out of me.
Even Overtown Miami's worst hood was not as scary looking. Liberty City was only area that reminded me of Orlando.
I don't know if Disney and industry that moved in since 90's
has helped. Or made it worse. But you couldn't pay $1 mil to ever live in O.
I could always say same about St Pete, Ft Myers, Sarasota, Ocala, Gainesville, Daytona, Titusville, Tally, and most of Jax as well. Though when in radio I survived 6 mos living off Dunn @95, not far from Jax Intl.
Back then Tampa was not good, I heard its improved. West Palm was mostly hood, so was/is Ft L, Miami anything
outside downtown was crap. Especially whole NW anything. But even NE was very seedy esp by Biscay, US 1 all the way up to NMB.

I lived in Orlando all of the 90's and traffic was horrific then. The city talked about light rail for years but never did anything about. Hugh mistake. I worked about 17 miles away from the house it was an easy hour in traffic. They need light rail bad. There's no escaping it either even the back roads are clogged.

I moved to Florida due to my wife job relocation. Which meant i had to leave my job behind. A job where i was doing good. We came from Savannah Georgia. We've been in Altamonte Springs Florida for almost a year and a half. I found work, but was laid off after 6months and had to receive unemployment benefits because my manager didn't have another account available for me. Been unemployed since. I've been submitting my resume daily since, no luck. I love the beauty and convenience in my area. But there's a cloud of doubt over my head here as a black man seeking work. For that reason, i don't like it here. My wife is still doing well with her job and is supporting me through this. But its frustrating trying to find employment in my field. Ive had two interviews recently with Hispanic hiring managers that i feel doesn't want to hire black people. My first time being in this environment. Fl is already deemed a racist state and can feel it through the things i love here

Wellllll…. So long as you don’t have anything actually important to complain about. People are just amazing. I’ve lived here my entire life, closing in on 60 years, and have seen all the growth (and destruction). If you are complaining about the traffic, maybe you should consider alternative routes and learn which ones work better at what times. Toll roads exist in all major cities, get that Epass. It will also work with toll road systems in other states. Way back, when they were just starting to work on the express lanes for I-4, I was against them. Then I used the express lane up in Atlanta to bypass about twelve miles of traffic that was barely moving. Best twelve bucks I spent during the whole trip. Getting to the beaches, no problem if you don’t wait till the middle of the day to go. Got no advice about nightlife, never been into clubbing. And the weather, well something about all that concrete and asphalt that I’ve noticed over the years is that the more of it you have the more mugginess you get after it rains. I don’t like it either.

@teamcollinshomes I'm commenting on one of the things that you say you hate about Orlando, the weather. The weather in Orlando is pretty much the same as all of South Florida, except for the winter time. Even when it does get cold, it doesn't stay that way for long. The only people who I can see you deterring from moving to Orlando because of a few days of cold are people from Miami. Anybody from anywhere else in the country would love to have only a few days of cold during the winter. Traffic? Now I hear ya, but lots of places have bad traffic. Have you ever been to L.A., Houston, New York, or Chicago? Traffic, traffic, and more traffic. Overall, I think YOUR five reasons are weak. You should have titled your video differently and gone about it another way.
