    Little minifreak is amazing! Have had mine for a few months now and there's still so much to learn and experiment with.

    This guy does great demos, an art form in itself - especially some of the recent ones are really good

      Sometimes I'm not even interested in a product but if I see it's this guy, I'll watch just because he's so pro. I've also watched him demo things I already own because I almost always learn something new about it or just workflow in general. Anyway, yeah, props to this dude.

    Big D digs out the dark sounds and stretches the synths full capabilities. Many other demos are too generic and easy on the synth.That's why big D is one of the best.

    Really useful, liked the format of just concentrating on the raw sound of the engines rather than just slapping a ton of reverb on everything.

    Superb instructional demo Daniel (as always!). Glad I bought the HW version, great format for my modest studio - an amazing bang for your buck hybrid sound exploration synth 😎👍🎹💥 p.s you meant Mini Freak V btw! 😝

    The thing that’s such a pity is tose touch strips instead of wheels. Having said that and having owned Moog, nords, Korgs, modulara and so on, this one really calls my attention.

    Love my Minifreak and this is inspiring too. Ha! Can’t wait for the 61 key poly-AT “Superfreak” (Megafreak?.. with ability to save/ recall 10 favorite patches via buttons) to come out!!

  • @klstay
    @klstay ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Another great design from Arturia. I believe they now prototype a full size, bi-timbral version - basically 2 minifreak engines. Hopefully it will have dedicated stereo outs per layer, (most importantly IMHO) either the same keybed as on the mk2 Quantum or very similar premium level poly AT keys, and priced somewhere between the standard and deluxe hydrasynth. While perhaps technically possible to ship it this year marketing considerations could push it to 2024. Whenever it does surface I believe it could well scoop up all the "synth of the year" awards with such attributes.

    only criticism is that filter seems partly closed (visually can see the knob) during most of the oscillator demonstrations, when it should be wide open for a demo of the oscillators. Maybe he started an init patch and went from there, though.

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Random. You are exactly right. I did start from an INIT, so most of the knobs didn't reflect their actual value. -_Daniel_

    The biggest total bust is not having stereo audio inputs (manual says it's only TS) because the whole world is in stereo. So I can't send my stereo Oberheim (that has no effects internally) into this unit to add stereo effects on separate channels to it. The Oberheim is fantastic in stereo so although I'm adding effects it has eliminated the Oberheim stereo field. Pretty dumb thing to do. However I layered one instance of the mono Oberheim (it has L/R & mono outs) thru the Freak and layered over the other stereo instance for some nice combinations.

    I would like a hybrid analog keyboard with two actual real analog tone generators, and two digital tone generators. The Roland D50 was one of my favorite keyboards. But I also really miss the analog keyboards that came before it. There is just no real substitute for a real analog tone generator.
