I usually build these in a sqare so that items can circle around multiple times giving the hoppers a chance to pick up everything. It is so annoying if items skip and you have to feed multiple times. For maximum convenience make the input chest waaaay down in a cave with the bubble column goin up so that you can mine out endless blocks and travel up to a sorted supply of blocks.
I usually do this with a minecart with chest so i can move the input chest as I mine large areas out. I like your way for a stationary position though.

@@robertdiggler6341I use a minecart unloader that turns around and spits the items out into a bubble elevator that goes up and eventually pipes into my main water stream I use to transport items from my farms to my storage area. This way I can just extend my minecrart track as needed

I built this in Bedrock Edition on the PC in a creative world, couple issues happened with the system but I eventually found a fix. I think it's because I had the water elevator going straight towards the hoppers instead of rounding a corner, but maybe it was something else. The pressure plate didn't work, I had to use signs so the items could skate around the sign, and the cake didn't work, however putting bottom slabs in the spot worked out really well and nothing is getting caught in the contraption anymore. All in all this doesn't seem to work with the cake and pressure plates, and you have to have the items that go up shoot around a corner before it reaches the blocks of ice after the first 5 hoppers.
@@smithpeter669 in the wall where the cake would have went. Seems the cake didn't work so I just put a bottom slab there and it worked well enough. Ended up building this in a minecraft realm with my friends. Works well enough, I think I've got like 60 chests for it, but not sure of what all to put in them really.
@@aircobraman1375 i actually built it in bedrock but it is a modified version that is a cross between this one and the other 4 slot item sorter on his channel just had to do some tinkering with the water stream to make sure the items shoot fast enough to get all the way across
Actually instead of using 41 diamonds or 41 netherite ingots you could set them up like this : 1 item that you want to be sorted, 41 Blocks (named), 3 rows of single blocks (namned)
@@5neezysnow Yeah, it increases the red stone output causing other hoppers to unlock and letting all items flow through, which can make it to where the first hopper in line and many others will take on more items since the named blocks will start pushing through.
Great build! I have recently found your vids and subbed almost instantly. Keep up the awesome work. A possible suggestion to save on items that you want in the chests is to place 11 of the filter items in each of the 4 slots in the top hopper versus just 1. That way you don't need 41 of the actual items you want sorted, instead you only need to use 1.
having just one filter item in each slot keeps it overflow proof. which is good because one one filter overflows it unlocks the filters next to it and breaks the whole thing.
This Automatic Item Sorter works great as of 1.19.30 on Minecraft Bedrock, and I followed exactly what you did and it worked perfectly!!! Thank you so much for making aesthetically pleasing sorter. Don't listen to what others are saying about this sorter like "oh this isn't that good there's better sorter... blah blah blah...". I found this sorter to be really effective for my girlfriend and I's world that we are running on Hard difficulty. I really appreciate the fact that there are other youtubers like yourself who make their own version of these types of builds because honestly the other farms that the other youtubers make look either too hard to make or are bland looking. Well done and keep up the good work!!!
For anyone wondering, this can be more than two chest tall (i dont know if there a maximum amount) jut make sure all the redstone is were it has to, even if it floating on mid air it still works.

@@bmxspk4953 can confirm this works. i made a storage system like this with hallways that wrap around along with an auto smelter that feeds into the sorting system on my hard mode realm that my buddies have on my xbox series X. i still went with the same 5 column chest system setup throughout but as long as you have cakes and packed ice it works fine

For mine to work I had to remove the cake from every bend apart from the initial one, I think if the items are moving too fast they get stuck in the cake if they're moving too slow they get stuck without the cake. Not certain but it seemed like it

If you leave 11 blocks of dirt instead of 1 you will get only one item in the funnel, it's good because some items you dont get so often like diamonds or emeralds, good video big up my guy

@@gremlinmuncher6874 I found that the hopper right after the ice block at the midpoints is what is skipped. I replaced the pressure plate with a scaffolding and it seems to be resolved.
Didnt realize that an item sorter from java-with java mechanics from 2014 from impulsesv works on bedrock now-did they change the redstone mechanics in bedrock? This sorter broke constantly on me when i had it going If it breaks a consideralble amount for you, id sugest checking out Prowl or Silentwhisperer-both have great working setups
so got a question, Can I have a chest holding all matter of Ingots? or a chest holding all matter of wood items? etc? would I just need to add more items in the sorter itself?
Does each locked hopper need exactly 4 slots of a named item for the filter to work? Or could I have 5 different items all be filtered in the same set of chests (For example, say I wanted to have stone blocks, bricks, slabs, stairs and walls all be put in the same chest. Could I set each of those into the same locked hopper so that my sorter puts them all together?)

that is a very, very nice sorting system, you are a legend for doing that. As of today I am dismantling my old sorting system and using this because of how neat it looks compared to the old one and hoping it's faster
@@Mits_ yes it seemed to improve the speeds but i had to go back to my old one because slimeballs kept getting stuck by the sign. if you have a slime farm then make the first chest for the slime balls

You have to crouch in order to place items on top of one another like a hopper, or in this case connect to the chest, make sure and don't click the ground, cursor must be on chest to attach one onother
I have item sorter spaced like put pillar between the hoppers so there be no mix signals but yours like a good idea too. I’ll have to test them both out and see which is effective, I think yours will win by speed though
@1upMC Question, in theory could this sort multiple items per hopper? Example on hopper sorts both diamonds and it's block variant and the rest of the slots are the filter item?
in java, yes I watched a bedrock tutorial and did it in java, the chests hitbox makes the dropper shoot sideways and diagonal and everything ends behind the input chest, but with a little rewiring you can make the dropper go shoot sideways into the stream and its works perfectly!
im glad im not the only one, i just spent soo much time making this just for the blocks to not go through the soul sand and the items move soo fast that they skip chests sometimes. Still works (mostly) but i only just realized it said bedrock in the title
Hey Ill probably not get a response but ehat do I do if the items im trying to sort are non stackable like tools and armor amd such, how should I sort those in the hoppers?
Where did you put the honey blocks? I built this and have a problem. Sometimes the hoppers skips the items, and I think its because sometimes the items passes so fast above the hoppers... guess some honey blocks would fix that
@@fernandodavidfelixfalcon2351 it definitely took some tweaking I had to move the intake back so they had more time to slow down. And even then my final chest that puts the swords into furnaces ends up clogged with other stuff occasionally. I think the collection system just need to have duplicates for each stackable
question if i were to for example put a stack of one item into a hopper then put another stack of another hopper then the subscribe dirt would that put two items in one chest?

I made this awhile ago. Recently after 1.21 I added another section and it just keeps breaking the sorter blocks keep falling out and the sorter block never went through the sorter. No matter what I do it breaks
unfortunately not. you'll have to switch to a hopper based sorting system that feeds from the top. i just converted to one last night and it works just as good, and quiet af
Nice, helpful design. Couple of things that happened on my end, possibly due to my own mistakes. Though I did rebuild from scratch three times to make sure I was following along as carefully as possible and had the issues all three times. My items wouldn't rise up the water column, but instead either popped out in front of the input chest, or got kinda stuck in the space between the input chest and the glass block above it. In the second case, if I stood next to the input chest, the items returned to my inventory. The fix was to move the input chest one block away from the soul_sand block, add a second hopper below it feeding the hopper that's feeding the dropper. Not sure why it didn't work with your configuration, but this seems to have addressed the issue. I also had to replace the cake with a bottom slab, because occasionally items would get stuck next to the cake. So far, no items have gotten stuck with a bottom slab in that spot. MC Java 1.19.4, fwiw.
Do you happen to have a tutorial for sorting with multiple items inside one box. Like if I want my block of iron as well as the let over ingots in one chest. Or like if I want all my saplings in one chest or are these things I'll just have to do manually?
There are others out there but much more advanced...search for mulit item item sorter...they are a lot of work but work great....bed rock is so different
The first chest of the second segment isn't picking anything up? Hopper has items in 1st space and filler in the other, below hoppers all have 1 of the item. Chests and hoppers after and before it are working fine. Any ideas?
Wrong title, in bedrock edition redstone torches on the side of pistons are more reliable in item filters than repeaters, love your tutorials for simplicity and clarity though! Community needs more good presenters like this.
me and my friend have build it in our survival world. We have a total of 16 modules but theres always some mistakes. We were using 43 named blocks and 1 of the items we wanna sort. At first all seems to work but after some time the hopper went crazy. Weve checked all multiple times, build a slower clock, but nothing works. Could it have something to do with the simulation distance? Thanks for ur help!
that probably has to do with them being connected modules. The more items in a hopper, the more signal strength the comparator gives out if I'm not mistaken, which is why the hoppers would then go crazy as when one is filling it would enable an adjacent one to fill as well, even if its the wrong block type. For more information on this, Pixlriffs has a video explaining auto storage and the like. A good work around for blocks like diamonds or other hard to obtain items, I'd suggest putting them in their own module without them connecting to the red stone of other comparing systems, that way they'd be isolated and it wouldn't matter how many items are in the hopper as the red stone dust wouldn't connect to any other red stone. Hope this helps!
So I’ve made this but every time I put items in the top hopper to set up the sorting mechanism it just sucks everything out and into the top chests! Help!
This works but I'm having issues with expanding. You say in this video that we can add more segments to this but when I did the new segment does work any ideas? Like the hoppers will hold whatever is put in there. It won't move it down into the chest.
I'm not sure if this works on bedrock, but you can try putting carpets on top of the hoppers, in theory, they should stop picking whatever block comes near them and instead will just pick up the ones already on it system, again, not sure if this works on bedrock.
I used buttons instead of pressure plates and it works nicely for me. I've built 12 sections so far but I want to at least double it. Wood is my Achilles heal and that is a ton of chests to make. 😅
Guys make sure to place a stack of items in the hopper or else it wont work ,bec. I thought you can place as much items as you want but no its has to be stack
Hey I understand that this is kinda old, but my one isnt working and all of them just get filtered into the first hopper, any help troubleshooting would be SUPER appreciated.
This is sweet thanks for the info. I’m having most items that don’t get sorted into the first banks of chest pile up on the pressure plate between the banks and never make it into the water on the second bank. Also a lot of the items in the last position of the first bank pile up. Any ideas how to fix?
The first item of the second group of 5 was bypassing the hopper and going to the last hopper. I stuck a button on the glass instead of using a pressure plate and that fixed it.

For other finding items skip over the hopper after the ice block in the middle, just replacing the pressure plate with a scaffolding seems to work.
I also came across this issue and instead of scaffolding, I used oak signs. They worked as well and I think its a little more aesthetically pleasing.

Try a chest instead of cake, or ender chest.(may need 2) Have water round the corner. Should fix.

If you want to cover up the hoppers that show above the chests, you can just add a trapdoor to cover it up.

Yes you need ice for the items to travel across without these the items will get stuck. And same for the cake it is very important

Trap door are what i put over water so if i need to change spot or fix it! But great guide love building these in my worlds!

Its possible. U can make a System to put Items from gehst 10 to chest 2. If you understood this system u can do it. Try in creativ first.

I have item sorter spaced like put pillar between the hoppers so there be no mix signals but yours like a good idea too. I’ll have to test them both out and see which is effective, I think yours will win by speed though

@1upMC Question, in theory could this sort multiple items per hopper? Example on hopper sorts both diamonds and it's block variant and the rest of the slots are the filter item?
in java, yes I watched a bedrock tutorial and did it in java, the chests hitbox makes the dropper shoot sideways and diagonal and everything ends behind the input chest, but with a little rewiring you can make the dropper go shoot sideways into the stream and its works perfectly!
im glad im not the only one, i just spent soo much time making this just for the blocks to not go through the soul sand and the items move soo fast that they skip chests sometimes. Still works (mostly) but i only just realized it said bedrock in the title

Where did you put the honey blocks? I built this and have a problem. Sometimes the hoppers skips the items, and I think its because sometimes the items passes so fast above the hoppers... guess some honey blocks would fix that
@@fernandodavidfelixfalcon2351 it definitely took some tweaking I had to move the intake back so they had more time to slow down. And even then my final chest that puts the swords into furnaces ends up clogged with other stuff occasionally. I think the collection system just need to have duplicates for each stackable
can you just put the top row of hoppers facing down so that the item flow is more direct?
question if i were to for example put a stack of one item into a hopper then put another stack of another hopper then the subscribe dirt would that put two items in one chest?

I made this awhile ago. Recently after 1.21 I added another section and it just keeps breaking the sorter blocks keep falling out and the sorter block never went through the sorter. No matter what I do it breaks

unfortunately not. you'll have to switch to a hopper based sorting system that feeds from the top. i just converted to one last night and it works just as good, and quiet af
@skrody alternatively, could push dropper back and use a similar system to fill it with items from further away. Buried mine in a cave lol

Nice, helpful design. Couple of things that happened on my end, possibly due to my own mistakes. Though I did rebuild from scratch three times to make sure I was following along as carefully as possible and had the issues all three times.
My items wouldn't rise up the water column, but instead either popped out in front of the input chest, or got kinda stuck in the space between the input chest and the glass block above it. In the second case, if I stood next to the input chest, the items returned to my inventory.
The fix was to move the input chest one block away from the soul_sand block, add a second hopper below it feeding the hopper that's feeding the dropper. Not sure why it didn't work with your configuration, but this seems to have addressed the issue.
I also had to replace the cake with a bottom slab, because occasionally items would get stuck next to the cake. So far, no items have gotten stuck with a bottom slab in that spot.

Do you happen to have a tutorial for sorting with multiple items inside one box. Like if I want my block of iron as well as the let over ingots in one chest. Or like if I want all my saplings in one chest or are these things I'll just have to do manually?
Sadly it's only 1 item per chest
There are others out there but much more advanced...search for mulit item item sorter...they are a lot of work but work great....bed rock is so different

The first chest of the second segment isn't picking anything up? Hopper has items in 1st space and filler in the other, below hoppers all have 1 of the item. Chests and hoppers after and before it are working fine. Any ideas?
What all you tryna sort for the second segment? And did you check the other chest in said segment?
Note: won't work with non stackable items i think!
I understand not having more than 5 chests per unit but can you have fewer? Or can you have an odd number like 3 then 4 then 3 again?
No 5 is how many blocks the water flows from its source block

Wrong title, in bedrock edition redstone torches on the side of pistons are more reliable in item filters than repeaters, love your tutorials for simplicity and clarity though! Community needs more good presenters like this.

me and my friend have build it in our survival world. We have a total of 16 modules but theres always some mistakes. We were using 43 named blocks and 1 of the items we wanna sort. At first all seems to work but after some time the hopper went crazy. Weve checked all multiple times, build a slower clock, but nothing works. Could it have something to do with the simulation distance? Thanks for ur help!
that probably has to do with them being connected modules. The more items in a hopper, the more signal strength the comparator gives out if I'm not mistaken, which is why the hoppers would then go crazy as when one is filling it would enable an adjacent one to fill as well, even if its the wrong block type. For more information on this, Pixlriffs has a video explaining auto storage and the like. A good work around for blocks like diamonds or other hard to obtain items, I'd suggest putting them in their own module without them connecting to the red stone of other comparing systems, that way they'd be isolated and it wouldn't matter how many items are in the hopper as the red stone dust wouldn't connect to any other red stone. Hope this helps!
So I’ve made this but every time I put items in the top hopper to set up the sorting mechanism it just sucks everything out and into the top chests! Help!
Lock the hopper before connecting it to a chest. Also you can do 1,11,11,11,11 instead of 45,1,1,1,1 to save on materials.

Is it possible to to make more than one item go in a single chest? For example iron, gold, diamond and so on going in the same chest?
This works but I'm having issues with expanding. You say in this video that we can add more segments to this but when I did the new segment does work any ideas? Like the hoppers will hold whatever is put in there. It won't move it down into the chest.
I'm not sure if this works on bedrock, but you can try putting carpets on top of the hoppers, in theory, they should stop picking whatever block comes near them and instead will just pick up the ones already on it system, again, not sure if this works on bedrock.

I used buttons instead of pressure plates and it works nicely for me. I've built 12 sections so far but I want to at least double it. Wood is my Achilles heal and that is a ton of chests to make. 😅

This is sweet thanks for the info. I’m having most items that don’t get sorted into the first banks of chest pile up on the pressure plate between the banks and never make it into the water on the second bank. Also a lot of the items in the last position of the first bank pile up. Any ideas how to fix?

@@Popp_cat I replaced the pressure plates with slabs at the top. That fixed it for me.
The first item of the second group of 5 was bypassing the hopper and going to the last hopper. I stuck a button on the glass instead of using a pressure plate and that fixed it.
