  • Is Minecraft redstone too confusing? Want to learn redstone mechanics but it seems too hard? Then Learn Redstone With Me! In this series, we'll go over things like how to build a hidden redstone door, how to build an automated storage system and what a redstone comparator does! You can watch the entire series from beginning to end, or just pick and choose which topic is needed for your situation! By the time you're done watching, you'll know more and be able to make more!
    Today's video explains how simple item sorters work, so you can finally stop looking up tutorials on how to make them each time you want to make them!

    there are sooooo many tutorials on how to make item sorter designs but never on how or why they work. sometimes it seems like the youtubers themselves don't even understand it. I appreciate this video so much

    Tip: if you name the filter item it makes it more unique( like naming the cactus's "filter" ) and thus the cactus problem you had does not happen. Good vid though and and I learned a little about hoppers!

      you're right though, because if you understand how things work you're eventually gonna reach a point where you don't have to rely on tutorials to build your own stuff, sort of like that chinese proverb says: "give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man how to fish and you feed him for life"

    This is the best item sorter video I have seen.
    1) It explains WHY it works in a really nice way.
    2) It is a better design than most and activates with 21 waste items and not the 45 or so that most of the ones on youtube require because this one is more compact.

    • @xMoonlove
      @xMoonlove ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Actually, I know your comment is a year old, but the 45 item design is superior and is recommended because it prevents items from overflowing and breaking the entire system. With 21 items what will happen is because the Redstone is short, it will start activating hoppers of chests to the right and left of the intended chest so it breaks the system. With 45 items, its impossible to overflow because for it to do so, you need more items to be within the hoppers than is possible.

    • @Chris77Rocks77
      @Chris77Rocks77 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@xMoonlove How does the redstone activate other hoppers? I dont understand. Is it because too many items at once will give off a larger signal, activating multiple repeaters?

    I’ve been in need of a proper storage system for the mostly-vanilla SMP I’m on; now I can envision the whole design because I now know HOW item filters work and WHY, instead of having to just follow a tutorial. I may go for 45 items instead of 21 to avoid any hiccups, as some folks have mentioned in replies on other comments, but that’s just a matter of a few extra levels spent on assigning names to more stacks of netherrack 🤣 thank you for taking the time to explain the ins and outs of how this works!
