As an American who has played WoW with many Canadians over the years the fact that Tomer Did the most Canadian thing and brought out a Looney also made me die laughing.
I have two ideas that I think would be fun for episodes: 1. Each plays someone else's signature or favorite deck. For example, Richard using Tomer's Zedruu deck, Phil playing Richard's Rograk, etc. 2. The cards in your deck must have been in standard with your commander's set. If your commander has been reprinted, you'll have to pick one. This would be fun to relive a generation of standard mtg and it would be a different way to "build around" your commander. Each deck would be iconic of an era of standard.
That second idea is cool, but power creep plus standard expanding will make commanders from the last year totally OP. I think you'd have to restrict it to commanders pre 2023 or something.
This worked out marvelously. Literally everyone had a shot at executing their game plan, and it was glorious! Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
31:07 Funny thing about Teferi with Mystical Teachings (if Richard still had access to it): The way Teferi is worded, it allows Mystical Teachings to search for your deck for any creature card (oddly enough, it gives Dryad Arbor flash, too... which does nothing). lol
The more alarming part is thinking it’s possible to vote for dead presidents. Public Law 116-112 states only deceased presidents can appear on money, so you can never vote for any of them, even the greats like Washington or Lincoln.
I feel like this concept would have worked better in modern. The players who had to build around an instant only get one copy in their deck, and only a single use without other cards to recycle it
16:01 Pretty sure the Cursed Mirror/Chulane had vigilance. I don't know if Tomer had anything he could have played at instant speed, so may not have been relevant.
the most impressive part of this game, was that Sett had enough Hare Apparent to build that deck. I've open two boxes of foundation drafting with friends and have only come accross four, one being foil.
Episode idea! You guys can only use cards that have been played this season. You could even do a fantasy football style draft for everybody's top 10 cards or something! And you can also do the reverse of this where you can only play cards that haven't been played this season
I really want you guys to make the meanest decks with low salt sum. Like under 20. Bring crim back for that episode. This might sound easy but even basic lands have a surprisingly high salt score for some reason.
My favorite part is when Seth said “you’re gonna put that land into play next turn anyway, after the hawk. So you might as well let the hawk tuah it’s thing” or something like that 12:40
There was an editing error at 42:30 Tomer was at 34, Seth attacked for 2, then the ring dealt 2, and then he took 2 from the shock. He should have been at 28 not 30 but the life changed for Seth's hit but then when the ring hit it did the sound and minus life but it didn't change.
It's rare that you see Phil ever win because somehow he always manages to remain an Avengers level threat if you leave him alone for even just one turn
I don't believe that works since the trigger is tied to the player who took damage. You also can't hit one person with creature and then redirect the Stadium trigger to another opponent and make them lose the game.
When Phil put temple garden on the field untapped with growth spiral, was he supposed to lose 2 life? I’m not sure if I just misunderstand how that works or not.
You do get priority in draw step, but basically only hand attack is typically worth casting there in most cases, since you only get priority after the player has drawn their card for turn
So Question. I love Hive mind shennanigans right. So if I cast thieves auction and the Hive mind copies them do the casting of the copies go on the stack or are they automatically cast. B/c if they aren't and Thieves Auction resolves first and Hive mind goes to another player does Hive mind trigger from the copy of theives auction they have and create more thieves auctions or am I reading way too much into this?
Hive mind triggers on cast. Putting it under control of a new player does not change the stack. So it would be just each player resolving thieves auction and that’s it
Great content, as always! I have a quick question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
We did actually catch that in the game, but while Richard's board wipe resolves first, he only creates food for the surviving creatures he controls (0) then Tomer does the same with his board wipe (0 food) then Seth resolves his board wipe, destroys nothing, and creates food for all the creatures he has left (more than 0)
Wouldn't Seth still get his food? His creatures would remain after everyone else's wipes, it's creatures with power 3+ that got wiped and Seth has a bunch of rabbits.
I'm pretty sure only Richard discarded his hand on that activation of scepter. Teferi won't let anyone else cast the copies one because it's not thier main phase and two there is a spell on the stack.
THE MASTER MULTIPLIED MENTIONED RAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Hes probably my favorite commander from the WHO set, I just wish he was better. Thank god Jeweled Lotus got banned when it did, cuz i was for sure considering getting one for him
If tomer had 1 more mana he could've gotten the blast act, killed his own fanatic, put it under the vat and made a token to win the game. Well, blast act could probably win anyway because Seth didn't have haste
"friends" in quotes will always be one of my favorite goldfish running gags
"Friends" is their original f word
"What's a toonie?"
"Is that a real coin?"
My Canadian ass is dying laughing
Richard has lived in Canada before so surprised he is questioning it
Only canadians have slur-sounding names for their coins
Lmaoooo ya fkin TOONIE!
As an American who has played WoW with many Canadians over the years the fact that Tomer Did the most Canadian thing and brought out a Looney also made me die laughing.
@RyuPlaneswalker It was actually a toonie! Lol
By becoming One With Nothing, everything becomes possible, including becoming the Door to the Nothingness.
Or, better, becoming a march of mirrors and fade through the door to nothingness.
You all are on a run of absolute banger restrictions & game types this season
Spoiler
Richard executing Phil's win condition, _on Phil,_ was absolutely marvelous.
Need a lot more spaces for a spoiler block

@@MrInithra Have you seen seth try to flip a coin?
I once won 18 flips in a row because of the thumb... What Tomer has done here is insane.
Right. Just think of it as flipping heads 10 times in a row…
Phil is bad at Cascade, Tomer is bad at coinflips
39:37 Phil reconsidering the Mythos of Illuna decision while Hive Mind was on board 🤣🤣🤣

Richard's reaction to Phil's Reliquary Tower is golden hahaha
Its funny to see Richard ask what brass tunnel grinder does when he suggested everyone use it in all red deck on the podcast this week
Tbf, given that the games are recorded in advance of the podcasts, this might have been the game that put him on it.
this game almost assuredly happened before the podcast
@@simonf.3354 correct, we recorded this game before the "packages" podcast

30:08 Phil casually accidentally dropping a German word in the English text.... "Not creating tokens sondern the tokens entering." Feel that.

Phil should be proud, his plan worked!
Seth bringing Chulane is like bringing an MLB pitcher to an intermural league
"Ask for your allowance."-Richard hahahaha
Richard: "Phil, you are trying to kill us with door to nothingness? How about I door to nothingness you instead"
I thought the "impossible" deck for Tomer was going to be an equipment deck without Kaldra then take a shot whenever someone mentions it lmao
Tomer flipping coins as if they're chaos orbs! :D ♥
They should do an episode in which Chaos Orb is legal just to see who fails at it the most :D.
This game was absolutely crazy, best one I've seen in a while
Tomer "aaahhhhhh why did I cast anything" feels like the theme of the episode
Richard not knowing Washington is on the quater is hysterical
I wouldn’t use the word “hysterical “ here. Alarming, depressing, or something of that sort would be more appropriate.

I would genuinely buy that black lotus. Ya'll should scan it and sell token proxies :o.
51:00 I don't think any of the counters can be removed, because the attacked player is no longer in the game.
They can and will be removed as the trigger only check the number of counters and not if the player is still in the game

Phil losing cause of richards combo, abusing phils landbase, wincon and build around Card ist craaazy
Rolling dice for "coin flips" has the small advantage of being easier to see on camera. Not to mention the issues around the flipping itself.

You should do an episode in which you proxy the Arena only cards to see what Commander would look like with them.

When Phil put temple garden on the field untapped with growth spiral, was he supposed to lose 2 life? I’m not sure if I just misunderstand how that works or not.
Am I missing something or did Richard Thespian stage the azorius chancery ? And then later turned it into the world tree?
That's not an issue, Thespian Stage retains the copy ability when it copies another land, as per its own text.
@ always forget about the “retains this ability” My bad!
What are the "ghost" cards on Phil's board after he dies?
I heard that sneaky "sondern," Phil!
I thought you can’t do anything in draw step unless there’s an ability put onto the stack so you can respond?
That's only in untap, not draw or upkeep.
You do get priority in draw step, but basically only hand attack is typically worth casting there in most cases, since you only get priority after the player has drawn their card for turn
