    Thank you for making this video! We are also taking the Bernina Express from Chur to Tirano. But please, how far is the train station from Tirano to Milano Centrale? Is it direct or is there a change in Colico? And if so how do we get to Colico from Tirano? Grazie

      You're welcome, sounds like a nice plan, please note there are construction works this summer, so this train will be replaced by a bus for a part. Please check the timetable of Trenitalia for this (trenitalia website works fine). This line is popular for tourists but even more popular for locals, school kids, etc. This is why the construction works are this summer.

    Do we need to reserved ticket earlier to bernina express?

    • @Trainviking
      @Trainviking  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I do have a video on the Bernina Express as well where I tell you more. For the panorama coaches a reservation is obligated, for the regional train part you can just hop on.

    Hi, when searching for an travel plan I see that there is a transfer at Sondrio before getting to Milano Centrale. Didn’t see that on your video. Is that new?

    • @Trainviking
      @Trainviking  ปีที่แล้ว

      This summer there are construction works, that might influence your trip when you looked up the schedule.

    How about luggage space in these trains of we carry suitcase

    • @Trainviking
      @Trainviking  ปีที่แล้ว

      There is space, no need to worry. Although these are still commuter trains, though.

    Is it still possible to buy Trenord tickets in the cafetaria in Tirano station?

    • @Trainviking
      @Trainviking  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't paid attention on that this time i have to say. But when I was here in 2018 it was possible. It's also the kind of service point at the station.

    Amazing route and so beautiful but rubbish new trains which photography is almost impossible due to reflections. I have travelled with the ‘old’ 464 trains and these units and just think these are awful new units.

    • @Trainviking
      @Trainviking  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think these new units have a lof if improvements. But for watching the views, the old units are definitely better.

      @@Trainviking fully agree but also I think less toilet facilities that the old trains with only one per 5-car set. If that is defective then what? Older people, pregnant women and also people with health conditions have no solution. A clear benefit of the new trains is effective air conditioning on a very hot day but on such a magnificently scenic route along Lake Como it carries also a good amount of tourist traffic who want to admire the route.

    The regional trains in northern Italy are a shame - Dirty and old. The state, or whoever is responsable for the Italian railway policy strongly prefers fancy and expensive Freccierossa high speed lines and trains, which of course only serve the mayor cities. No more money left for regional trains: take the car! That's what Italians do / often need to do, as the public transport is sh*t. Hope that will change one day!

    • @Trainviking
      @Trainviking  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I admit, there is definitely room for improvement. In France local trains are even worse (not that old though), same policy. However some parts in the North are doing great, for example in Sudtirol a great local line has been introduced. I noticed that the rolling stock is being modernised compared to my past visit in Italy.
      And high-speed rail is nice but it's not the only thing, don't forget about infrastructure that's already there and maybe upgrade the infrastructure that's already there and on this line... I'd love to see more trains.

      @@Trainviking by 2025 almost all regional trains in Italy will be new. More than a thousand trains of rock, pop and blues have been purchased.
      Between high speed and regional, the Italian fleet will be the most modern in Europe and in the world, including Switzerland.
