I'm a proud owner of the digitakt too. I'm not doing ambient myself but it's really inspiring to see how you play with it, thank you for uploading all of that :) really relaxing and interesting. I hope you'll release more cassette!
Beautiful as always. You’ve demonstrated that both the digitakt and digitone can both be great for ambient stuff but do you have a preference? I suppose it comes down to whether you’d rather use samples or fm to craft sounds?
Steven Rogers Thanks! You pretty much answered your own question. If you prefer to work with sample, Digitakt is the way to go. And if you want to create sounds from scratch, Digitone is choice. Personally, I don't think that any kind of synthesis method or sound source is better or worse for ambient music. Analog, digital, samples, whatever. It all comes down to what inspires you. And there is most likely some trial and error involved until you find the gear that suits you best at this point of your path.
