Impressive stuff, ideas on how to structure ambient sonic soundscapes are so welcome. I love that your featuring the guitar in this modern sampler sequencer based environment. So inspiring, I am a traditional but yet very experimental guitarist. Thanks Mucho!
I love that you pay respects to Chihei for inspiring you but I have to say that it seems to me that you have your own distinctive voice. Congratulations, this is amazing. I love it.
I really connected to the mood and sound palette you’ve created here and in general, all your Digitakt series is truly inspiring and motivating. It would be nice if you’ll clearly what you’ve meant by sending “trigless trig”, I didn’t understand how it prevent the click sound. Thanks!
It's incredible how much you can do with this device, or just about any device with some creativity. Amazing job and I'll be sure to try something similar. Truly inspirational!
Very nice ... amazing how smart is build this track, all those trigs and conditions, very clever ! And thanks for sharing that guitar sample pack, looks like a plethora of inspiration for my Digitakt :)
Fantastic, as always. And thanks for the new name to look up! I'd never heard of Chihei Hatakeyama, but their art seems worth exploring if it inspired such a lovely work. :)
This was very enjoyable and peaceful, makes me want to listen to more of your work! Although I don't own a Digi, it was interesting to read your patches notes. Oh and I'm gonna listen to this Chihei Hatakeyama as well now :) !
Aldo yeah, it’s definitely one of your best so far! 😊 just added you on instagram. Didn’t know you were based in the UK! I got Scandinavian vibes from this channel.
Yeah I just saw that we were neighbours, aha, the Scandinavian vibes are probably the result of my not-so-great usage of the English language, I moved in a few month ago but I'm actually french!
Aldo haha! Well not quite! It might just be I see someone that talented with an Elektron product, and I naturally assume their Scandinavian 🤣 London is ace though!
It's not clear how do you set the random sample slot. How can you choose exactly the value of the slot of the sample are? I becoming crazy to understand this beautiful technique! thanks a lot for the inspiration.
Hey, thank you for the kind words. :) When you're in the Sample menu, you can access the sample list by clicking on the left arrow and by choosing "View Ram". Now you can choose the slots you load your samples in. What I do is organizing them into groups, and I leave blank spaces between those groups. Once I did that, the rest is all about setting the LFO. One important thing to know is that the Sample Slot value on your SRC page will the center of your modulation. If you want your track 1 to have access to sample slots 1 to 10, you should set your center value around 5 and slowly increase the Depth of your LFO until it scrolls through all the slots (it's easier to use a square LFO to set this up, you can switch back to the random LFO at the end). Does that make sense? It's pretty hard to explain this without having the device in your hands, aha, anyway hope that helps!
Hey! I've been digesting your nice channel for quite a while ;) and today I had a go at trying out this very thing here. What I don't understand - and I've been wondering about this also in the creation of beats - how exactly does this bit work _"I then set up a LFO to randomly select one of these sample at each trig"_ - how does the value of, uhm, the _value_ and the width of the LFO correspond to the No. of the sample slot? Say, my samples are in slots 8-16. What I'm doing right now is to set the value to 12 and then adjust the LFO's width accordingly but that feels like quite a hassle?
Hey, that's quite a hassle indeed but that's the way I do it as well. :) It's especially fiddly as the LFO width range is huge and for this specific use you usually want a value close to 1. To make this slightly easier I load 2 distinctive sounds right before and after my little cluster of sample, like a white noise before and a tone after. Then before switching to the random shaped LFO, I use a regular sine LFO and slowly dial in the width. Whenever I start to hear one of those 2 samples, I know my width is too high! A weird thing I found out this way is that the LFO center is offset. What I mean is that for your example with slots 8 to 16, you would probably get more even results by choosing 13 as the Sample Slot default value. Still a hassle, aha, but oh well!
@@Aldoistaken Ah, alright, thanks! The vast range of the LFO threw me off. Good idea to use dinstinct samples as a bracket. I had the Lfo initially set to square to easily read the border values in the sample screen, but that required switching back and forth. Anyways, this really helped me to make... a thing, so thanks again :)
@@Aldoistaken thank you so much for the answer! Well, maybe someday, if you have the time (and if you want obv 😂) you could make a video explaing the making of this track for example, step by step, samples used, techniques ecc.. it would be very intersting for me! Thanks again, I love your music! 😊
That's a great idea, I actually thought about doing something like this before but wasn't sure it was worth it, thank you for the suggestion and expect to see something like this in the weeks/month to come. :)
how do you get this such a long attack time on the digitakt? LFO? Just the envelope shape in my experience does not do it. Incredibly enjoyable vibes again!!!
Hey, thank you! The attack time on the Envelope page is quite short indeed, a workaround is to use a LFO in Trigger Mode and use it to slowly rise the Amp Volume at each trig. By changing the LFO Speed you can get a suuuper slow attack, that's what I did in this track. :)
@@Aldoistaken This video is amazing, thank you for that! I've been trying to reproduce this slow attack effect with the Amp Volume LFO but can't get my head around it. Should the use of the LFO in this way somehow override the Envelope? I activate the LFO and play with it but won't get any step closer to what you have here :(
@@andrefaust740 Hey, yes the LFO will override the regular envelope. I don't remember what I did for this track specifically but I think the trick to this technique is to set the Volume on the Amp page at zero. The value you set on the Amp page will be the base value of your LFO modulation so if it's too high you won't hear a lot of changes. Try to set it to zero and set the LFO destination to Amp Volume, use the Triangle shape and set the LFO Trig Mode to Half, you should get some good results. :)
@@Aldoistaken Ohh, I finally get it! Thanks a lot for the tip :) Apart from the slow attack, I also noticed the samples themselves seem to last forever. Did you pitch them down by any chance?
