My experience: went from totally skinny, non masculine look to ripped in gym and it makes x1000% difference. At 54, I can say that being toned with a bit of muscle, nice clothes and good grooming makes a world of difference. I also worked on my socials skills where needed. My confidence has skyrocketed and women notice me. Be sure to swallow the red pill to protect yourself and your assets. Have a life that doesn't depend on a female. I'm 38. Always been slim and athletic. Toned, but not built. Although I have to work harder for that these days! Women in general definitely prefer an athletic body to a built body. The first thing that came to my mind is that they probably felt subconsciously threatened, yes, but maybe because they felt bad about themselves and their own bodies. Seeing you be fit and getting fitter may have made them feel comparatively ugly. This behavior is more fitting with modern women, at least from my observation and when I analyze myself.

Yep. When I was 5' 11' and 225 well built, women would come up out of the blue and hit on me. They would simultaneously be feeling my shoulders and arms and smiling ear to ear. I could say anything during a conversation and they would keep talking to me. Now that I am thinner, I rarely get hit on and when I do my verbal game has to be on point or the woman loses interest quickly.

I'm 6ft and 215lb of lean muscle, competitive lifter and I hang with guys (25 to 35) who are all physique competitors, bodybuilders, MMA practitioners etc. All of the big lean guys have no problem pulling women everywhere they go, so long as they aren't ignorant over compensators. The way you carry yourself and how other men treat you (respect and fear) plays a huge role in female attraction. All the studies done on human sexuality show women prefering men with high testosterone markers. Thick arms, vascularity, broad shoulders, V taper, wide jawline, confident stride. Add in personality characteristics like assertiveness, fearlessness/confidence, stoicism, deep voice. You're better off being well muscled like a large boxer or lifter than you are to be "lean and toned" . Also looking dangerous goes a hell of long way.

Women love muscles. They don't like the unnatural steroid look though, but as long as you're natural you should get as big while staying relatively lean as possible. When me and my best buddy go swimming we catch so many women looking at us it's amusing. I remember when I got with a girl once, she was always making jokes about my fitness or muscles in a negative way. Untill we ended up in bed and she couldn't stop drooling over my muscles lol. I think that women telling you something negative about your physique (if you have a good physique) is just a shit test to see if you have the character to go with the body. Being large is generally a sign there's a lot of testosterone at work. Men in that category are more likely not going to be the guy that comes home and hands over his pay check. It also gets into a few other areas. If you're going to the gym that much there's a good chance you're not interested in working 60 hours a week. It's the dad bod thing: it's not aesthetically pleasing to anyone, it just says to women that you have a white collar job that requires nothing physical and you spend a lot of time at it.
I agree with you! Personally i love the fit guys, but the kind of fit you get from doing sports like swimming or Tae Kwon Do. The big guys you can't even hug completely. Plus the un-natural shape kind of creates a distance.. You nailed the V-shape back and lean arms+ normal fat.
I am currently cutting and taking my weight down 30Ibs which is easy for me, I've noticed women are saying, "You look really well" or "You're looking really good" the slimmer I get. I have been thinking about this for a few weeks now and really analysing the reactions of women. Currently 254Ibs and 18% BF at 6'4, will go down to 230Ibs and 15%BF. This is my median line between looking broad and muscular and looking long and lanky.
My advice: Do what you enjoy, be ambitious and dedicated. Don't do it to impress someone. Be the person you like yourself to be. If a woman doesn't find you appealling with your dedication - so be it, this woman is not for you. If you have goals and work for them without seeming to look for approval and attention - it is awesome and sexy in it's own way. I'm going to tell my own experience from a skinnyfat guy to a lean, far above average muscular guy. Being jacked you get a lot more respect instantly in first impressions, from both men and women. You get a lot more looks, if you have a tight shirt or shirtless at a beach or festival, guys will compliment you more, but the amount of stares, approaches, initiations, proximity approaches hoping you'll start a convo from women will be a lot higher. During relationships, my exes and current gf especially always complimented my body, touched my muscles all the time. Now some women won't like it at all, some may even be disgusted, but if you don't go over the top and look unnatural, a fair majority will love it. And the biggest factor why you'd do it is for yourself first of all. You look better so you feel better. You get more respect and confidence. And you get a lot more attention.
True i started lifting for geting female attention like many teens, and after i saw the results i realized that hard work can actually get you results, I also liked that i broke records here and there as i progressed with my lifts and started making small goals along my weightlifting journey, I also stopped doing it for getting womens attention and did it because i liked how i felt after i acomplished those small goals. Attention from women when having muscles and taking care of your body is a plus, but it shouldnt be a main motive for working out. Women also dont give a fuck if you have muscles or not, all they care about is your wallet anyways, maybe in high school girls apreciated looks more than your wallet, but eventually those girls get out of highschool and hypergamy kicks in. Then your wallet is a priority and your muscles and look are just a plus.

Regarding muscles, I found that working out and improving my appearance massively boosts my confidence and mental strength. And women love a confident guy. So I would say definitely yes, having a muscular build and training your body is excellent for attracting women, in an indirect way.
Hyper-gamy, from my experience is not just a gold digger mentality. Even now in my early 50s, I still have a muscular build. The women I meet who are recently separated, divorced or have just broken up, most have subtly/slyly hinted "you could kick my ex's ass" I'm only 5'8" but with an Al Pacino like, no bullshit attitude, so I've been told. Anecdotally this is a hindrance. I literally have to say to them. As long as you are not at fault, I would defend you. If you purposely start a fight or flirt with someone else, (being shit tested) do not expect me to back you up. By telling them this early on is a double edged sword. It is just like a mentioning a prenup. A good woman will understand where you are coming from. I have had different results than you. I've never been overweight, but I go through periods where I hit the weights and my body responds immediately. I look better and get bigger and the women seem to like and react positive to me.

It's no wonder so few relationships are successful, there are so many things that need to be right before two people can live harmoniously, and so few people make any effort to be the person they need to be in order to have the relationship they want. I've been happily single about 14 years, and in that time have grown enormously after so many failed relationships. I found that when I was in to bodybuilding that girls were more in to one night stands. Relationships were impossible. When I dropped about 30lbs and kept it lean I was getting hit on far more.
I'll add that clothes play a big part in attracting women. Attain a slim muscular look and then improve your wardrobe. Big muscles are for impressing and intimidating other males.
This is anecdotal, but for the past year and a half, I've been regularly training hard in the gym, and I'm no Arnold but I'm definitely getting lean and muscular, I've never had so many women check me out, tell me I look good. I love it and I'll never stop, it makes my confidence soar!
Never cared about guys with muscles until I started weight-lifting myself and changed my lifestyle - so now I really do notice the more muscular guys to the non ones - and thats only because my own interest in lifestyle has changed so now I would so go for a muscular dedicated guy as I am quite dedicated in my fitness too . Unfortunately I don't think I could date an out of shaped guy anymore .

That's very interesting. I've experienced the same after I began bodybuilding 5 years ago. I also notice women physiques more. Not just the obvious areas such as the chest and the glutes but also the back the shoulders & arms and legs. Women who train are definitely more of a turn on now than before I began training and it's not just because of the appearance but because of the mental development that comes with it.
Have to chime in here... big fan and love your work, but when I started working out again and got pretty jacked, the amount of interest shown in my by woman literally quadrupled. When I say jacked, I mean 100kgs (225) of muscle and not too ripped but a pretty trim midsection. Just my experience. Peace brother.

I'm a fit guy that all woman whom I've dated have expressed their physical attraction towards me, and ive always asked what part of a man's body do you ( a woman check out) and the overwhelming response ( which I thought was curious) is forearms! I disagree. In my journey of life women have always paid more attention to me when in shape. As a competitive bodybuilder myself I have found it to be like shooting fish in a barrel. The dichotomy of the situation is when I've put on weight they tend to not be as interested, also guys find your lane, the women I've mentioned being the fit athletic type are my lane and I find the most success with those type of women. "Regular" girls are indeed turned off by abnormal muscular development, but that's not my lane and I could care less if they like my look or not. Funny thing is I always catch them peeking a look (husband or boyfriend in hand) when am out in public, so they may say they don't like muscles but secretly wished there mate was sweeter eye candy.

A 20 something bodybuilder did a very good video on this subject; what he basically said is that when women say they hate the bodybuilder look is when they're imagining a guy oiled up on stage and grinning but when they see the same guy casually leaning against a bar counter they'll be swooning and thinking "Wow that guy is so beautiful" (not all of them obviously). Having muscles is basically just a passive addition to your overall value that you carry with you and it will show itself passively while you show off your humour, intelligence, education, manners or even your money actively. My more controversial opinion is that even a lot (maybe most) gym guys don't make the most of their genetics (even if their diet is on point) because they have drank the "big compounds" kool aid; hence they have lackluster forearms, asymmetric back development, no calves, bottom heavy chest, disproportionate tricep development, less than ideal midsection definition and shoulders are lacking width. If you're serious about natural bodybuilding, you can no longer stand out by working the "big three" because so many guys are doing it and focusing on those "money lifts" is not enough to bring out details and develop all muscles equally. Lots of guys mistakenly think that you're only "strong" if you obsess about powerlifting competition lifts even though they don't even address all the muscles and the idea in competition is to use maximum leverage and minimum ROM to score points from judges, not to stimulate the muscles. If you want to look like a fridge, stick to that BS but if you want to look like an adonis and don't have athletic hobbies aside from bodybuilding, why not go all out and get surgical about it? There are photos of Arnold Schwarzenegger doing multiple lifts for his lateral delts alone; that's how he built all that separation and detail.

I think you summed it up pretty well. I am definitely most attracted to men whose muscles seem "natural" (even if they are built in a gym). Muscles that are just developed enough that you can tell they can toss you around a bit and protect you. It might even show good genetics which is a big thing for women subconsciously. For the hympergamy thing: fall and winter is all about family, so relationships take priority. Summer is all about fun, so if you're not with a good woman, that's absolutely the time she is most likely to stray. Swimsuit season = prime hypergamy season.
To expand on the physique: a comfortable layer of fat is great. They're not peacocking so to speak and you can safely cook them a meal without having to fit it into their macros :P
6'1", 155lbs, and I'm basically invisible to women as far as I can tell. I think I have too much of a nerd body and not enough well developed swimmer body. So my goal to start with is 175lbs.
This really hit home for me because it revolves exactly around my personal life experiences. I spent 5 years earlier on back in college trying to be the perfect athlete with a perfect diet being the perfect version of myself so that women would fall in love with "me". It changed virtually nothing and they mostly didn't care. Then once I entered the real world and worked my way into becoming a multimillionaire over the span of 7-8 years, women were all over me, relatively speaking. From my experience, I can say is that it increases overall access and reduces their power. If say 1% of the female population liked me earlier, maybe that number grew to 5% once I became "rich". I'm totally making those numbers up but it is just proving my point that access increases significantly. And once they find you, they fall deeply in love with you and never ever want to leave you unlike formerly where with the exercise version of myself, I always felt very replaceable at the end of the day by women, but not any more.
Your story left out a major control element. You said that once you got out of college they got more and more interested in you. Duh. They're approaching the wall after they graduate college. I needed to see that, once you got financially successful, "the freshmen college girls in my college town paid me a lot more attention than when I was their age." I always thought it was because they felt like you were better than them and would leave them for another female. They say not to train so you wont have options to leave them, then when you get disgusting and fat, they think they're better than you and leave.
The first thing that came to my mind is that they probably felt subconsciously threatened, yes, but maybe because they felt bad about themselves and their own bodies. Seeing you be fit and getting fitter may have made them feel comparatively ugly. This behavior is more fitting with modern women, at least from my observation and when I analyze myself.

Yep. When I was 5' 11' and 225 well built, women would come up out of the blue and hit on me. They would simultaneously be feeling my shoulders and arms and smiling ear to ear. I could say anything during a conversation and they would keep talking to me.
Now that I am thinner, I rarely get hit on and when I do my verbal game has to be on point or the woman loses interest quickly.

The most amount of attention I've had from women was when I got muscles. Nothing huge, just decent size arms and shoulders and a near six pack, weighted about 95kgs. You're on the level with most things but this one you're definitely off point. I'm 6ft and 215lb of lean muscle, competitive lifter and I hang with guys (25 to 35) who are all physique competitors, bodybuilders, MMA practitioners etc. All of the big lean guys have no problem pulling women everywhere they go, so long as they aren't ignorant over compensators. The way you carry yourself and how other men treat you (respect and fear) plays a huge role in female attraction.
All the studies done on human sexuality show women prefering men with high testosterone markers. Thick arms, vascularity, broad shoulders, V taper, wide jawline, confident stride. Add in personality characteristics like assertiveness, fearlessness/confidence, stoicism, deep voice.
You're better off being well muscled like a large boxer or lifter than you are to be "lean and toned" . Also looking dangerous goes a hell of long way.

Women love muscles. They don't like the unnatural steroid look though, but as long as you're natural you should get as big while staying relatively lean as possible. When me and my best buddy go swimming we catch so many women looking at us it's amusing. I remember when I got with a girl once, she was always making jokes about my fitness or muscles in a negative way. Untill we ended up in bed and she couldn't stop drooling over my muscles lol. I think that women telling you something negative about your physique (if you have a good physique) is just a shit test to see if you have the character to go with the body. Being a low self esteem bodybuilder is a huge turn off for them but if you're a confident muscular dude they love you.
Being large is generally a sign there's a lot of testosterone at work. Men in that category are more likely not going to be the guy that comes home and hands over his pay check. It also gets into a few other areas. If you're going to the gym that much there's a good chance you're not interested in working 60 hours a week. It's the dad bod thing: it's not aesthetically pleasing to anyone, it just says to women that you have a white collar job that requires nothing physical and you spend a lot of time at it.
I agree with you! Personally i love the fit guys, but the kind of fit you get from doing sports like swimming or Tae Kwon Do. The big guys you can't even hug completely. Plus the un-natural shape kind of creates a distance.. You nailed the V-shape back and lean arms+ normal fat.
I am currently cutting and taking my weight down 30Ibs which is easy for me, I've noticed women are saying, "You look really well" or "You're looking really good" the slimmer I get. I have been thinking about this for a few weeks now and really analysing the reactions of women.
Currently 254Ibs and 18% BF at 6'4, will go down to 230Ibs and 15%BF.
This is my median line between looking broad and muscular and looking long and lanky.
My advice: Do what you enjoy, be ambitious and dedicated. Don't do it to impress someone. Be the person you like yourself to be. If a woman doesn't find you appealling with your dedication - so be it, this woman is not for you. If you have goals and work for them without seeming to look for approval and attention - it is awesome and sexy in it's own way. You will only find the right woman by doing what you love since she has similar interests. I mean that is if you are looking for a woman to have a serious relationship with.

I'm going to tell my own experience from a skinnyfat guy to a lean, far above average muscular guy.
Being jacked you get a lot more respect instantly in first impressions, from both men and women. You get a lot more looks, if you have a tight shirt or shirtless at a beach or festival, guys will compliment you more, but the amount of stares, approaches, initiations, proximity approaches hoping you'll start a convo from women will be a lot higher.
During relationships, my exes and current gf especially always complimented my body, touched my muscles all the time.
Now some women won't like it at all, some may even be disgusted, but if you don't go over the top and look unnatural, a fair majority will love it. And the biggest factor why you'd do it is for yourself first of all. You look better so you feel better. You get more respect and confidence. And you get a lot more attention.
True i started lifting for geting female attention like many teens, and after i saw the results i realized that hard work can actually get you results, I also liked that i broke records here and there as i progressed with my lifts and started making small goals along my weightlifting journey, I also stopped doing it for getting womens attention and did it because i liked how i felt after i acomplished those small goals. Attention from women when having muscles and taking care of your body is a plus, but it shouldnt be a main motive for working out.

Regarding muscles, I found that working out and improving my appearance massively boosts my confidence and mental strength. And women love a confident guy. So I would say definitely yes, having a muscular build and training your body is excellent for attracting women, in an indirect way.
Hyper-gamy, from my experience is not just a gold digger mentality. Even now in my early 50s, I still have a muscular build. The women I meet who are recently separated, divorced or have just broken up, most have subtly/slyly hinted "you could kick my ex's ass" I'm only 5'8" but with an Al Pacino like, no bullshit attitude, so I've been told. Anecdotally this is a hindrance. I literally have to say to them. As long as you are not at fault, I would defend you. If you purposely start a fight or flirt with someone else, (being shit tested) do not expect me to back you up. By telling them this early on is a double edged sword. It is just like a mentioning a prenup. A good woman will understand where you are coming from. I have had different results than you. I've never been overweight, but I go through periods where I hit the weights and my body responds immediately. I look better and get bigger and the women seem to like and react positive to me.

2. Light V shape (shoulder to waiste combo)
3. Obliques, not six pack that much
4. Lean face and jaw muscle

I found that when I was in to bodybuilding that girls were more in to one night stands. Relationships were impossible. When I dropped about 30lbs and kept it lean I was getting hit on far more.

This is anecdotal, but for the past year and a half, I've been regularly training hard in the gym, and I'm no Arnold but I'm definitely getting lean and muscular, I've never had so many women check me out, tell me I look good. I love it and I'll never stop, it makes my confidence soar!

Never cared about guys with muscles until I started weight-lifting myself and changed my lifestyle - so now I really do notice the more muscular guys to the non ones - and thats only because my own interest in lifestyle has changed so now I would so go for a muscular dedicated guy as I am quite dedicated in my fitness too . Unfortunately I don't think I could date an out of shaped guy anymore .

Women who train are definitely more of a turn on now than before I began training and it's not just because of the appearance but because of the mental development that comes with it.

Have to chime in here... big fan and love your work, but when I started working out again and got pretty jacked, the amount of interest shown in my by woman literally quadrupled. When I say jacked, I mean 100kgs (225) of muscle and not too ripped but a pretty trim midsection. Just my experience. Peace brother.

Hi Rich you asked for feedback about muscles - natural is good, also tall and lean without too much muscle mass (not pumped) is also attractive to me. Shorter guys I think look hotter with a bit more muscle mass. I am tall (5"9) so that is why I mention height but I would also date shorter guys.
Just wanted to add my experience in the dating world. I'm a fit guy that all woman whom I've dated have expressed their physical attraction towards me, and ive always asked what part of a man's body do you ( a woman check out) and the overwhelming response ( which I thought was curious) is forearms! In a woman mind strong forearms shows masculinity in the sense that the man is "hands on, physical and strong " . Found it curious and wanted to share, good luck gentleman!
I disagree. In my journey of life women have always paid more attention to me when in shape. As a competitive bodybuilder myself I have found it to be like shooting fish in a barrel. The dichotomy of the situation is when I've put on weight they tend to not be as interested, also guys find your lane, the women I've mentioned being the fit athletic type are my lane and I find the most success with those type of women. "Regular" girls are indeed turned off by abnormal muscular development, but that's not my lane and I could care less if they like my look or not. Funny thing is I always catch them peeking a look (husband or boyfriend in hand) when am out in public, so they may say they don't like muscles but secretly wished there mate was sweeter eye candy.
The best thing to do is just be yourself, and not worry what anyone else thinks.

A 20 something bodybuilder did a very good video on this subject; what he basically said is that when women say they hate the bodybuilder look is when they're imagining a guy oiled up on stage and grinning but when they see the same guy casually leaning against a bar counter they'll be swooning and thinking "Wow that guy is so beautiful" (not all of them obviously). Having muscles is basically just a passive addition to your overall value that you carry with you and it will show itself passively while you show off your humour, intelligence, education, manners or even your money actively. My more controversial opinion is that even a lot (maybe most) gym guys don't make the most of their genetics (even if their diet is on point) because they have drank the "big compounds" kool aid; hence they have lackluster forearms, asymmetric back development, no calves, bottom heavy chest, disproportionate tricep development, less than ideal midsection definition and shoulders are lacking width. If you're serious about natural bodybuilding, you can no longer stand out by working the "big three" because so many guys are doing it and focusing on those "money lifts" is not enough to bring out details and develop all muscles equally. Lots of guys mistakenly think that you're only "strong" if you obsess about powerlifting competition lifts even though they don't even address all the muscles and the idea in competition is to use maximum leverage and minimum ROM to score points from judges, not to stimulate the muscles. If you want to look like a fridge, stick to that BS but if you want to look like an adonis and don't have athletic hobbies aside from bodybuilding, why not go all out and get surgical about it? There are photos of Arnold Schwarzenegger doing multiple lifts for his lateral delts alone; that's how he built all that separation and detail.

I think you summed it up pretty well. I am definitely most attracted to men whose muscles seem "natural" (even if they are built in a gym). Muscles that are just developed enough that you can tell they can toss you around a bit and protect you. It might even show good genetics which is a big thing for women subconsciously.
For the hympergamy thing: fall and winter is all about family, so relationships take priority. Summer is all about fun, so if you're not with a good woman, that's absolutely the time she is most likely to stray. Swimsuit season = prime hypergamy season.
To expand on the physique: a comfortable layer of fat is great. They're not peacocking so to speak and you can safely cook them a meal without having to fit it into their macros :P
6'1", 155lbs, and I'm basically invisible to women as far as I can tell.

So my goal to start with is 175lbs.
This really hit home for me because it revolves exactly around my personal life experiences. I spent 5 years earlier on back in college trying to be the perfect athlete with a perfect diet being the perfect version of myself so that women would fall in love with "me". It changed virtually nothing and they mostly didn't care. Then once I entered the real world and worked my way into becoming a multimillionaire over the span of 7-8 years, women were all over me, relatively speaking. From my experience, I can say is that it increases overall access and reduces their power. If say 1% of the female population liked me earlier, maybe that number grew to 5% once I became "rich". I'm totally making those numbers up but it is just proving my point that access increases significantly. And once they find you, they fall deeply in love with you and never ever want to leave you unlike formerly where with the exercise version of myself, I always felt very replaceable at the end of the day by women, but not any more.
Your story left out a major control element. You said that once you got out of college they got more and more interested in you. Duh. They're approaching the wall after they graduate college. I needed to see that, once you got financially successful, "the freshmen college girls in my college town paid me a lot more attention than when I was their age." Otherwise you're talking apples and oranges.
