It is animal abuse. It is shameful. Whoever fed this cat into morbid obesity should at the very least be fined substantially. Whoever did this has to be mentally unstable for sure. It is not funny or cute. It is outrageous.
@@darkprincessandthereptilia9618 You can't eat what is not in front of you. As a former fatty I don't understand how people think it's so cute when an animal is obese. It not only creates a slew of heath problems and shortens lifespan, but it's uncomfortable and even painful. Glad this kitty is getting help!
Agreed. I can think an obese animal is pretty or cute but their obesity can lead to the same health problems that obese people can get (diabetes, arthritis and heart).

This breaks my heart. I hope you can help patches get back to normal. Cats are not supposed to be this big. I'm glad he is not diabetic. Please hug him for me. I've had cats and Patches looks very loving.
sadly the cat my grandparents had was not as lucky. he wasn't as fat as this man, but his belly dragged on the ground. he started getting skinnier and skinnier, drinking so much water. he became diabetic and we had to supply insulin, which was NOT cheap nor easy to inject(which was daily). DO NOT LET YOUR PETS GET LIKE THIS! IT IS ANIMAL CRUELTY! he became sicker and sicker and we humanely euthanized him.
My Liam was diagnosed as a diabetic (he was over 22 lbs) back in Jan 2022. I had already been on a long journey myself to go into diabetic remission. What was cool was in July 2022 we both went into diabetic remission together (he is down to 18 lbs 9 oz as of Feb 2023). His vet doesn't think he will lose much more weight (his body shape means he is a very tall and long cat...so 17 1/2 to 18 1/2 lbs is healthy for him). He was able to stop insulin (and I stopped the last of my diabetes medication). So we keep each other in check :)
Thank You for your GENEROSITY in helping in this situation. I WISH you both wellness & success in the future. You are a GOOD soul, the world needs more like YOU. ❤
I had some sort of maincoone mutt cat who weighed 42 lbs in his prime. We took him to vets and gave him special food but the vets claimed it was more muscle than fat. He definitely looked more fit than this sweet guy. Never had one that could jump to the top bunk bed from the floor like home either. I still miss that panther cat...
My first cat could do that too! He was a normal sized American short hair but he could jump from the floor to the top bunk, which was fun as the one who slept on the top bunk. Definitely the best jumper out of the 7 cats I've had.
Anytime I see an obese animal or child, I feel both angry and heartbroken. I'm so grateful Patches now has an owner who actually cares about his health.
When I see cats this big, it makes me stick to my resolve to keep my kitty at a normal weight. She's no where near as big as 'Patches'. But if I let her, she would eat all day long. So I now only feed her about a 1/4 cup of food twice a day...
We adopted an 8yr old cat a few years ago and at the time of adoption he was overweight at about 18lbs. We named him Hank "the tank". You could tell he was once even more overweight because he has very saggy belly folds and a big, exposed nipple/areola area despite being a male. We have gotten him to lose a couple more pounds but wow has it been a lot of work! We have to watch every little nibble that goes into him (he is a sneaky one and learned how to rig the auto feeder machine to give him more), and diet food didn't seem to really help...what helped the most was giving him good quality food that was high in protein and fats interestingly. He loses more weight eating less regular food that is high quality than specific diet food. He can be persuaded to exercise a little bit here and there, but he isn't into the endurance games with that lol. Definitely going to ensure he continues to lose weight because it is so noticeable how every extra pound weighs him down and puts him at risk for diabetes and a slew of other health issues. Although I think he might need a girdle to help him with those loose skin folds as he continues to lose those belly pounds!
My cat is a little bit over weight and I am doing everything for him to loose those 3 pounds. I can't even imagine the way it is for this baby. He found a good mommy.
To let a cat get this size is animal abuse. Someone should have put the brakes on his eating when he was at 22 pounds. My boy was at 22 pounds and he waddled down the hallway and barely wanted to get up and move. He's lost several pounds simply doing what many humans do to lose weight. Intermittent fasting!! Yes, it works for animals too!! I also took him off dry food. He now gets around like a kitten again and is having more fun and enjoyment!!
He is so precious. I love him. Bless his darling heart. He is going to feel so much better and be so much happier. I understand 100% how he might feel.
I thought my Abbey was a chubby cat at 22 lbs when I adopted her! I had to sign a contract with the rescue organization that I would keep her on her much needed diet! She would only eat kibble as that's all she was ever given. My vet suggested a new diet kibble- Royal Canin Gastrointestinal Fiber Response that is a prescription kibble. Kind of pricey at $67/ bag but because it's full of Fiber she doesn't eat as much so it comes down to the same price of the other diet kibble! She LOVES it! She's now down to 12 lbs and at age 15 all her lab work is normal! She's really active now and seems much happier! Good luck to this pudge and his new mom!
NICE! God bless you & Abbey!! I would suggest getting her a water fountain and/or supplementing with packet of Hydra Care every day because kitties who only eat dry are prone to kidney issues especially as they age. There is also a prescription can food by the same company that you might try (gastrointestinal biome) sounds like she is doing fabulous for you... great job, Cat Mama!

How long did it take for your cat to lose 10 pounds? I just adopted a 28 pound cat. She’s morbidly obese I’m trying to gauge how long it’ll take her to lose weight
Patches is down from 42 pounds to 31 pounds as of late 2023. Hopefully Patches can reduce his or her weight to 10- 15 pounds. How Patches became this way from a previous owner is a bad story. Patches was overfed for while to get this way.
God Bless this woman & thank you for rescuing him & how sweet & so handsome is Patches🙊😘😻!? Awww...I love him💋💋! Good luck Patches! You can do it! Oh, & you too lady, best if luck on y'all's diet!
May he soon reach his goal weight for a long and healthy life! Mine just passed away at the age of almost 19 yrs! He would have never lived that long if he had been as heavy as this cat. In fact he was very slender his whole life, he may have been around 9 or 10 lbs at his heaviest... but was just under 5 lbs when he died, having lost 1.5 lb quite quickly near the end. (He was hyperthyroid but near the end wasn't absorbing his medicine as well.) The heart on Patches nose at 1:58 melted my heart.. on another note, at 0:32 there is a tiny cat (or cat shaped figurine) in the background... weird place for a figurine but its not moving so I don't think it's a real cat... anyone have any thoughts?
