    James Bernard this is your best Reason video ever

    @GennadiosArvanitis do the same thing but instead of the master fader, use the fader for the device that's playing in the sequencer. So if you have a sequencer track for a Subtractor and that Subtractor is wired into a 14-2 mixer, then option click that channel fader in the 14-2 mixer and do the same thing I described above.

    i haven't watched a reason video in a while, I've been experimenting on my own... and i love it to be honest! i've created some great bass synths from scratch and wild combinations with routing and sequencing. If you wanna make your music stand out and sound different, the best way to do it is this way. Key points, low oscillators usually create bass like sounds with all the filters and LFO and delay effects you can really use you imagination. Not mention you can go even deeper into it and hook up effects and rout certain wires to modulate something more specific. Another great way to learn new ways to use Reason (any version) is to read the Manual... I've learnt a lot of new things reading that manual. I even go back threw it cause sometimes you brain loops slow or you get tired and forget things. Great video! Prefect for beginners!

    @zetsuXitachi Yes, Reason has an "on-screen" keyboard that lets you play chords from your computer or laptop keyboard.

  • @ReasonStudios
    @ReasonStudios  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @GennadiosArvanitis Fade out the whole song? One way is to hold down the option key and click on your master fader. This will create an automation lane in the sequencer which you can now draw in a fade using the pencil tool.

    @ItsDiegoDoes You definitely don't need a keyboard but some people (usually piano players, find it helps them). You can input notes with the mouse or even use your computer's keyboard (the one you type with) as a piano to play notes on.

    There is a slider in the Audio Preferences called "Buffer." The smaller the value of the buffer, the lower the latency will be. But the lower the latency, the bigger the effort of your soundcard will be so the goal is to find a happy balance between low latency and efficient CPU performance. Many modern computers and soundcards, like our Balance audio interface, can operate fine at the fastest setting. But older computers or weaker soundcards might need a bigger buffer.

  • @ReasonStudios
    @ReasonStudios  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @kinkalani Sounds like you might be playing on a part of the keyboard that the Kong pads or Redrum isn't set up to use. Try shifting the octave range of your keyboard down lower to play lower notes. Kong and Redrum use low notes on a keyboard to play.

  • @ReasonStudios
    @ReasonStudios  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't there's a button that would say something like "show all patches." Click it. If you're using a Malstrom and you want to browse over to Thor patches, the folder will be blank if it's looking for Malstrom patches (since it's a Thor folder). If you click that button, it will show you all patches and clicking on each one will change the instrument to whatever the patch is so you can audition and select the one you want.

  • @ReasonStudios
    @ReasonStudios  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @vintertor Certainly not. There is an "onscreen keyboard" that you can play with your computer's keyboard keys. You can also just program notes in with your mouse to play back. A keyboard is useful only if you're a keyboard player who prefers to work that way. Thanks for asking.

    Really old JBL 4311b monitors... like.. from the 80's or possible late 70's. They are ridiculously heavy but I have mixed on them for over 20 years now so I know my sound with them (jeez.. I really am getting old...).

    you don't need a keyboard. you could draw the notes in on screen using a pencil tool or even use an on-screen keyboard which turns your computers QWERTY keyboard into a piano. lots of people prefer controller keyboards because they're either piano players already or they like the feel of those keys better but they're not required to make music, just ask any laptop producer who travels with Reason and no keyboard. :)

    The song in the beginning is rad!
    Is it from Reason? who made it?

  • @ReasonStudios
    @ReasonStudios  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @pitolove71 Who is this question to? Propellerhead has no official position on which one you should use, obviously. We develop for both Windows and Mac and support them equally. I personally use a mac in my music and video work but that's just me. I'm sure anyone you ask will have a different opinion on which is best based on what they personally use. I'd say try them both from a friend's computer if necessary and see what works for you. Good luck!

    This was just a tiny little part of experimentation and routing potential of Reason. And recently I figured out for myself that Reason is really fun to use - you create music without any brain pollution. Just creating.

    Well you can edit an automation on the tempo setting, but it will usually just sound weird when the tempo change, but there without a doubt different ways to change the tempo during your track.

    hey whats the patch synth you use for the loop track you add? sounds sick man

  • @ReasonStudios
    @ReasonStudios  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes that applies to drums too and guitar patches on the Reason instrument devices. I assume you don't mean real guitars because obviously those you just play yourself but I thought I'd make sure so nobody thinks I'm saying you can play a real guitar using the QWERTY keyboard in Reason. That would be some strange voodoo magic. :)

    FINALLY!!! I found a decent tutorial for REAL NOOBS like me... I'm not saying I understand it, but I'm starting to understand something 😉 Freaking wasted in the 90's, played DJ at local cafe (retro house, techno, goa stuff) but had no money (as a student) to buy all the hardware... I had idea's in my head of how a beat/sample/song should be, but no equipement.... Now 20 years later I have the money, bought a midi controller, bought reason 7, 8, 9 and 10 only to discover I can't do sh*t with it... Can't even record something... I want to "build up" the song like in this video and it finally happened! I start to understand it!!! Alsmost 39 years old and finally starting to get it!
    DO MORE very low end/noob-style tutorials and explain HOW you do basic stuff like record 1 sound (say a bass), then how you record that 2nd sound (say a clap), etc etc until you got some sounds (where are they? How switching between them, how altering 1 sound at the time until you like it) etc...
    Oh yeah I'm Flemish (dutch speaking) so my English might be... a bit off 😜

    I created two Redrum sequencers, first one for drum beat, and second one for bass guitar synth. Once I put all the bass sounds in the second Redrum I get this annoying high pitched sort of hum noise, like if in real life you were to bang up against a bass guitar and all the strings just ring out in that horrible noise, except for it never stops! Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this problem?

    • @sullyskillz09
      @sullyskillz09 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      darrick steele your sample is too long so it overlaps it self. Try changing the red rum step sequencer to be longer and program hits on different steps so they don't overlap or draw it in the sequencer

    • @sullyskillz09
      @sullyskillz09 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Basically what is happening on your 16 step red rum sequence is the guitar playing and the red rum goes back to the beat and hits the guitar sound again as your other one still playing and it continues again and again which is why it goes high pitched and doesn't stop
