Andrew, thanks for being a good sport in this one. I know it sucked for you in the moment but I hope you're able to look back at this fondly. At the same time though... the discomfort you were in was absolutely hilarious.
lol! It was an amazing experience and he enjoyed it even after the initial shock!
It sucked for him?? I know where you were going with that. 🤣
DONT APLAUD HIM BEING A PU$$Y, Jesus...this is whats wrong with our world!!! MAN UP!
The Elements singing in the background Earth Wind and Fire! That's the way of the world.😊
Well spotted! Thanks for watching..
The first bite is with your eyes! Biscuits and Gravy looks GRIM on a plate.....Tastes....phenomenal!
Thank you for your comment! You're absolutely right, the first bite is definitely with your eyes. It's amazing how a dish can look so different from how it tastes.
Biscuits and gravy doesn't look like cooked sea roaches though....just saying. lol
The first time I had a crawfish boil, it was at my bosses' company party at his house. He had huge pots of it!! We were scared!! He brought me a cardboard box top loaded to the top with about 5 lbs of crawfish, potatoes, corn, sausage! I said, "I can't eat all that or suck the heads??!!!" I ate two big tops full! It's sooooo good! You will crave it. It's amazing treat really. Cajuns eat it all the time. Proud of you guys! I know it's daunting at first!! It's sooo good!! It's takes alot to get full!!! I have to admit I don't like to see them alive put in a boiling pot! I feel the same with crabs and lobster. It makes me sad!😢 I am laughing at you guys coz we all feel scared the first experience!!!😂
Thank you so much for sharing your crawfish boil story! It's definitely one of those dishes you just need to start eating without thinking to much!
@@thebritstry You guys cracked me up only because unless you have been there in Louisiana, most people have no clue! I don't like mess or eating with my hands either so that too was like, Oh my Lord! I still DO NOT SUCK the heads. The fat and seasoning is there, but, uh no!! You guys are so cute together. I enjoy you guys. Great video!
😂😂 Everytime Nicola said "Suck the heads", I nearly died laughing at Andrew's reaction.
Lol! so much fun!
Had a bad day. Watching you guys just makes me smile. Thanks for making it down to the South.
Aw, sorry to hear that you had a rough day! But I'm glad our videos could make you smile. Thanks for watching and supporting us!
its like watching a toddler trying food for the first time, except the toddler has a full beard, looks like 50, and is british 😂
😃
Nicola, as someone who grew up in New Orleans, I can definitely say you're a natural when it comes to peeling crawfish! Andrew, you're getting it, man! I'm just amazed you both tried that without a drink! Keep the good stuff coming, y'all!
Thank you so much for your kind words! We had a blast trying out the crawfish and it's great to know that our efforts were appreciated. Stay tuned for more fun and delicious content!
😂 so proud of you guys! You did it! That corn is really good too with the spices on it. Crawfish Etoufee is wonderful as well.
Thank you so much 🤗! The corn, mushrooms and sausage were all delicious too! We have more video to come from our trip as well.
I have recently started watching your channel, and the one thing I really like is the fact that you all are willing to try some of our food with such an open mind. I am glad that you chose the South for your culinary adventures. The South really does have some of the finest food in all the US, in my opinion. We have been mastering the art of using spices a long time and taking cheap food and making them so delicious. Sometimes, the food may not look visually appetizing, but the outcome is simply delicious. Biscuits with sausage gravy, crawdads, chitterlings, and soft crabs, just to name a few, are particularly daunting, but ooh, so delicious ! It warms my heart that you two come in with such an open mind and give it a whirl. You all have such an adventurous side, and I love it. Hope you all had a great time, enjoyed your stay, and you all come back soon. You haven't even touched the surface of the deliciousness that is Southern cuisine.
Thank you so much for your kind words! We absolutely love trying new foods and exploring different culinary cultures. The South has definitely blown us away with its incredible flavors and unique dishes. We can't wait to come back and discover even more deliciousness!
Yeeeaaaa, this oughta be rich! You have to eat Texas BBQ with your hand boss! Head to Terry Black's on the way home to "over priced land".
Thanks for the recommendation! we will definitely head to Texas soon for some BBQ
@thebritstry, please go to Terry Black's for the BBQ. But since your so close to Memphis, try Memphis BBQ! One of the best BBQ in the country. Texas and Memphis BBQ should be your only choices. Southerners know their BBQ!!
@@the3mfs359I disagree with that statement. I think it is well worth trying Carolina barbecue, St.Louis barbecue and Kansas City barbecue.
Yes. Memphis has amazing barbecue. Not disagreeing on that part. I just think that everyone should try every style to make up their own minds on what they like the best.
@@thebritstry terry black is definitely overrated for bbq
@@WolfsDEif you’re not a big vinegar fan Carolina bbq is just ok. Unless you’re going for a whole hog.
You two are going to go the distance with this channel. Such a new channel comparatively speaking and it is so well made and edited. All you need is time and consistency and the viewers will come for sure. Can’t wait till you guys blow up! Enjoy the journey though. Much love from Arizona!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your amazing comment! Your words mean so much to us and they motivate us to keep creating great content. We're so grateful to have viewers like you supporting us on this journey.
When you suck the head, it's better to squeeze the head while you're sucking all of that good stuff out. Also when pealing the crawfish, just peel the first two bands at the top, pinch the tail and pull out the meat with your teeth. That's the easy and quickest way to eat crawfish.
Wow! thanks for the tips, we didn't know that.. Next time we will.
Clearly a response from a pro.
And don’t worry about the poop line. You can’t taste it. Just eat it all.
Yep. It's sanitized when it's boiled, am I right or am I right? Yes or yes? I'm curious if you tried the corn. It's my favorite side. I like it better than the sausage.
When I was in college in Louisiana, I used to go to an all you can eat seafood place...🤤
That's awesome. We tried some catfish and shrimp and grits and we would love to go back and try more seafood in the future
@@thebritstry Don't forget the frogs legs.
WOW, Congrats on trying a crawfish boil. I am jealous now cause I use to eat them all the time but cannot where I live now. Hope you truly enjoyed it and happy to see Andrew 'suck the head' cause that part is just full of flavor and spice.
Thank you so much! It was definitely a delicious experience. We hope you can find a way to enjoy crawfish boil again soon!
@@thebritstry I could if used frozen crawfish, but that really ruins the true flavor. I used to work at a very nice restaurant with 1 chef from Georgia and 2 from Louisiana and I learned to make many of the things in the deep south the correct way but I just lack fresh ingredients. I will just have to travel myself in time to eat those flavors again.
I'm so southern, we used to have these in our college cafeteria. lol Delicious! It can be a lot of work, but worth it. So much fun watching you both discover this! Hoping to see some fried green tomatoes and some pimento cheese soon, but I'd add Po Boys, jambalaya, and gumbo to the list, too.
Tasted so good! and worth the effort once 'somebody' got over the initial shock.
I've been waiting for this!!! Stop what I've heard is that a crab boil is the same idea as the crawfish boil. It's a social thing where you hang out with friends and family and eat your way through.
Yes, The restaurant told us it was a popular food for backyard get togethers..
So proud of you both for trying a southern delicacy that puts alot of people off. ❤
This was so fun to watch you both.
Thank you for your kind words! glad you enjoyed it.
i have never clicked on a video so fast, i have so much love for the excitement other people experince when trying new dishes and cuisines in the USA, as a fellow New Jersian, i wish i could say i have had the true experience of a for real boil.... jealous !!!
Haha, We are so glad, you clicked on the video so fast! We totally understand the feeling of wanting to try new dishes and cuisines, it's always an adventure. Don't worry, We'll keep sharing our food experiences. Let us know if there is anything else we should try?
This was so cool to see!😁👍 You've truly found a woman who loves you when she will peel your crawfish for you❤
Thank you!
As a life long Louisianan I got to say the crayfish banter was rather entertaining!!! It happens often around here!! Great video and great channel!!! Lenny
Thank you for watching!🤗
This was awesome!
Thanks so much for watching!
It is fun watching you guys eating real food. It looks y’all had fun eating.
Thanks for watching, we had lots of fun with that meal!
It was wonderful to watch you 2 share this experience together.
Thanks for your kind words and for watching
Awwww baaaabbbbyyy....I'm sure they were fantastic but I'm sure they cost you a pretty penny. Its not a good crawfish season this yr (too dry of summer) but the more you eat, the faster you get at peeling them. I can go thru 5 lbs in less than 15 mins if they aren't just out the boil. Glad yall go to experience that.
Yes, the restaurant was explaining the issues with this seasons crawfish! it was $14 per lb from memory, so i don't know if that is good or not?. We travelled out of the center to mid-city. to a restaurant called Clesi' seafood
@@thebritstry yea thats high high...we normally getting em for about $5-7lb...the later in the season, the cheaper they get!
Ya’ll are hysterical!! I’ve never seen anyone in distress about using their hands to eat 😂!! Of course, I felt distressed feeling judged if I didn’t use a knife and fork while in England lol! My mom is Native American and so eating without any utensils is a breeze! 😂! I’m proud of you two! I know it was delicious! ❤
Thanks for your kind words.... Lol, he definitely had a moment of panic there! But hey, it's all part of the fun. It was delicious and a real experience
Enjoy luvs
Thanks for watching!
That looks awesome! Good for Andrew for trying the crawfish - he did not look comfortable! 😆 Glad you had fun in NOLA!
Thank you so much! We had a blast in NOLA and trying crawfish was definitely a memorable experience!
I love to hear the sound of her laugh. 😂
Thank you!😃
You two I tell yuh. Almost had me in tears laughing on this episode.
Keep being yourselves
Thanks for watching. We're thrilled that you enjoy our content. We are having fun try these new food adventures.
Love this!!! I live a few miles from New Orleans and crawfish is one of our favorite things to eat!!
In Georgia, we do a crab boil. There's a seasoning that's added to boils called Old Bay. It's pretty much a mix of celery salt and powdered bay leaf.
The flavor is so popular a lot of southern states have crisps with Old Bay seasoning. I can't wait to see what you guys try next.
Thank you for sharing this interesting information about Georgia's crab boil and Old Bay seasoning. We didn't know that and we are excited to give it a try on our next trip.
@thebritstry Oh, also, if you want a good watch in your free time, I recommend the TH-cam channel Townsends and Son's.
It's a channel of very dedicated historical re enactors that specializes in the recipes of the 18th and 19th centuries in the US. And show the origins of a lot of our food preferences.
Old bay is good, but Tony’s is better
I'm having some Old Bay flavored sunflower seeds right now.
Ahhh! But put Old Bay and Tony Zatchery's together.
As a Louisiana man born and bred, I’m glad y’all tried crawfish, my one armed uncle taught me how to open crawfish with one hand when I was very young. Also yes one of my favorite things at the boil is the mushrooms they are flavor sponges, and the corn. I sometimes just make crawfish boiled corn on the cob just as a side.
We have never tasted mushrooms with so much flavor! they were delicious. Opening crawfish is a real artform.
@@thebritstryeveryone has a little trouble at first opening crawfish. It just takes practice. Once you have it down you get in a zone and just become a factory of delightful crustacean meat.
Also the sauce is made 1/2 mayo 1/2 ketchup, cajan seasoning, watchyoursister sauce and Louisiana hot sauce.
I really enjoy your videos! You are delightful people!
Thank you so much! Thanks for watching
Crawfish is one of those double entendre, innuendo, type foods, that people in south Louisiana love!
Yes! we can see why!
The voice isolator still catching the song vocals is hilarious 😆
I lived like 15 years well south of N.O. and I didnt know folks "deveining" crawfish was a thing until I looked it up after seeing you do it. Learn something new every day haha
Thanks for sharing... Glad we can help!
As my high school biology teacher used to say about deveining, “Happy intestine eating”
Oh boy get ready. You'll never want to leave the south after all these great meals your trying. Enjoy the adventure
The south has some seriously delicious food! we wish we had more time there after trying these meals.
The song selection when he is giving the head its sucking is almost appropriate 🤭🤭🤭always adorable great work 💯
LOL!! Well done Nicola. Andrew, we're going to have to work on you though. LOL! You're right Nicola, crawfish or mud bugs if you will, are a lot like boiled shrimp or prawns as you call it. The head does have the best flavor, there's just not a lot of meat there. Y'all were just too funny this time around. Cheers from Tennessee
Thank you so much for your kind words! We're glad you enjoyed the video and found it funny. Cheers Tennessee, we might visit soon!!
@@thebritstry Matter of fact, y'all made me laugh so much, I smashed that sub button. LoL. Now, I won't miss any of your episodes. LoL. Cheers from Tennessee
I recognized the restaurant immediately! Clesi is a family friend. He's a great guy and his food is AMAZING!
Please say Hello when you see them next!! We had such a great experience there and they explained so much about the food!
Crawfish etouffee or crawfish 🦞 bisque would suite Andrew much better! 😂 He is correct in it’s too much work for to little! Great job! 🤠👍🏻
We need to try the Crawfish etouffee next visit unfortunately we ran out of time this time! They are work but tasty! Thanks for watching.
God bless!@@thebritstry
What a joy to watch you both. 😍😍
Thank you so much for watching!
You guys are great together enjoy it every time ,those mud bugs make a good tomato and sausage boil as well😊😊😊😊
Thank you so much! We love creating content together and it means a lot to hear that you enjoy watching us. And yes, mud bugs in a tomato and sausage boil sounds delicious!
The best crawfish you get at people's housing during a crawfish boil. You get really good at peeling them so it doesn't feel like a lot work. Also, crawfish is really expensive this year because we had very little rain this summer. That's also why these crawfish are so tiny. They should be a bit bigger.
Yes, the restaurant explained the issues with this seasons crawfish haul! it was $14 per lb from memory, so i don't know if that is good or not?. We went to a restaurant called Clesi' seafood
I've never tried this but it looks delicious! I can't wait for your Texan BBQ sessions.
Thanks for watching..... It's a great experience! and tastes delicious. We are working another another trip and BBQ is on the list. we will ask for some recommendations when we have things put together.
You all are a fun couple. I enjoy your chemistry and humor.
😊 thank you
This was so entertaining!
This is the kind of thing you’ll look back on with a smile when you’re old and gray.
Willingness to try new things, is so important and just makes life more fun, for yourself and your loved ones.
This can be very hard sometimes, and believe me Andrew I was right there beside you, with more than a bit of concern over sucking the head and removing the intestine.
You are a super cute couple and your woman is a champ! You better thank your lucky stars you found her. : )
Can’t wait to watch more!
Thank you so much for your kind words! We had a blast creating that video and we're thrilled that you enjoyed it.
Yay!!! I was looking for this as soon as i seen ya'll in New Orleans. Hopefully ya'll get to make it to Mississippi some of the best soul food you'll ever eat.
Thanks for watching! We will try a get to Mississippi as soon as possible.
Glad they gave yall sauce to try. Canes sauce is partly based on that dipping sauce. The founder of Canes went to college at LSU in Baton Rouge so I'm sure it influenced him to make it and add a little more ingredients to it.
We need to try Canes but we ran out of time! What would you recommend when we visit?
@@thebritstry the whole menu is mostly their chicken strips but the do have chicken sandwiches. A lot of folks seem to love their texas toast and I heard the lemonade is pretty good.
Andrew, I'm in awe of you. I've never been to Louisiana, but the idea of eating crawfish boil is one that I figured I'd skip if I ever go. I don't cook or eat anything on the bone; I just don't want to work once it's on my plate. I love shrimp and lobster, but I've always had them cleaned before landing on my plate. Kudos to you for going for it! Nicola, I'm not disregarding you, but clearly, you had fewer personal obstacles to overcome before this challenge. :)
Thank you so much for your kind words! We really appreciate your support.
You two are great fun-Nicola actually had me chanting, “Do it, Do it”.
If Andrew has so much difficulty with crawfish I suppose blue crabs are too much for now; too bad. How about Carolina barbeque, Texas brisket, chili and pizza from a half dozen states-well, you’re just starting. There’s time.
Your encouragement means a lot to us! We appreciate you cheering us on and suggesting some delicious food ideas for future videos.
andrew dont be such a scardy cat
Lol! thanks for calling him out!
@@thebritstry no problem
you need to take him for peel em and eat em shrimp
I've never had a crawfish boil but I have had a shrimp boil. Not only is it delicious but seriously easy to make at home! ❤️🔥
Oh thats great i cant wait to see what you try next!
Thanks for watching!! we have more videos to come..
Americans love our dips, sauces, gravies, marinades, & the thousands of different condiments like so many different varieties of hot sauce or salsa, mustard & etc...
Glad to see u guys are asking for help if u don't know how to pick the favorite items but remember it might just be their favorites & try something different each time. Love u guys. 💜🙏🏼😍
Thank you for your support and encouragement! We'll keep trying new things. Thanks for watching.
Love you guys & your reactions are so genuine!! We eat crawfish here in WV & it is delicious ❤ So glad he tried it at least 😂 , but girl, you seemed like a pro! Proud of BOTH of you!
Thank you so much 😁
I love your videos. I'm a native Louisianian, born and raised. Eating crawfish is our groove here! Most here twist off the head and pinch the tail while biting the meat, twist and it comes right out in your mouth, no cleaning crawfish poop like a shrimp lol WE EAT IT ALL HERE literally! hahaha A person can go through a platter in a about 10 minutes or so, I would say about 3 times the crawfish that you guys had per person. The other stuff from the boil is good also. I don't suck the heads, too hot for me. I like some spice, but it doesn't like me very much. Cudos for going to the places that are know for what you are eating. Nothing wrong with cooking southern foods elswhere, but the deep south does southern food like no other. Hope you have a great time while in the boot!
Thank you for watching and your kind words.. We loved our time in New Orleans and had so many new dishes and foods. The Crawfish boil was a great experience and We still have more videos to upload!
That is one of our favorite meals. All of that with some muscles in the corn outstanding.
It's so tasty! with all the spices.. Muscles would have been a great addition. Thanks for watching
Andrew is sooo out of his element. Enjoying a platter of "Mud Bugs" (colloquial term for crawfish) is certainly a labor of Love. Enjoy the rest of your trip. Cheers.
Lol!! yes he was.... Thanks for sharing! and for watching...
Nicola just went straight for it!! The prawn memory made me remember that I used to do that with my parents too. It’s just peeling shellfish, no biggie 😊
Thanks for sharing! It's amazing how food memories can bring back such nostalgic moments!
I am glad you enjoyed the crawfish boil. Trust me, I understand the not wanting to work to undo the food aspect of it. The taste is amazing, but the process isn't.
I am still looking forward to your reactions on Gumbo and Jambalaya and I hope you went to the fried chicken place as well. (I am terrible with names).
I hope you also tried the Po Boys as well.
I doubt you did, but I know there are some places in or close to New Orleans that also do alligator meat as well. I have tried alligator myself and it is very good when cooked right.
Cajun style frog legs are another thing down there. Which btw...are freaking amazing. It really is very similar to chicken by texture and has a little bit of sweetness to the meat itself.
I am sure there are probably 30 or 40 more dishes in the area people would tell you to try, but nobody has time for them all. At least not in one trip.
Thanks for taking the time to recommend Things for us to try! We could have stayed in New Orleans for a month and still been trying new dishes! we tried some of your recommendations and we will upload the videos soon..
Andrew is definitely more comfortable having gumbo, etoufee or jambalaya where they prep all the seafood meat for you to put in the sauce or stew
Thanks for the suggestion! We are training him, slowly.... He was definitely more comfortable with those other foods and will upload the videos soon..
Been binge watching your videos 😂love me some crawfish broil. I usually cook it myself, I learned by TH-camr Stale Kracker, he makes lots of Cajun food. You can buy his seasoning online or at Walmart it’s good seasoning for anything Cajun
I love crawfish, especially with the beer 🍺
Great combination!
Any chance y’all are still in the city? Mardi Gras is on Tuesday, and I have some bar recommendations!
Unfortunately we are not! we are hoping to head back at some point. We would love any recommendations in the future though.
That's not a crawfish boil! It's boiled crawfish. Lol. Srsly. Lifelong New Orleanian here! A crawfish boil is the phrase we use for joining with friends or family to have crawfish at a home or wherever and the participants cook it (or sometimes just order sacks of it precooked). When you're just ordering a plate of crawfish in a restaurant it's just having crawfish. Kind of like having "A barbecue " versus just having barbecue. I'm so enjoying watching y'all try all of our wonderful cuisine.
Thanks for the clarification and thanks for watching! I appreciate you sharing your expertise on the topic. Thanks for watching!!
Andrew, go try crawfish ettouffee. Crawfish meat is already out of the shell. It’s served in a thick sauce over rice.
Thanks for the recommendation! we tried so many dishes and crawfish ettouffee will definitely something we will try. Although it was fun watching Andrew Squirm...
after you are back home you are going to miss the seasoned food we have here ....... lol
Haha, I guess it means we will have to start experimenting with seasonings at home!
I'm originally from New York, and the first time I visited my Cajun in-laws in Breaux Bridge, LA, I got the same training in how to eat crawfish. It's a lot of work for each little bite of meat, but the flavor is worth it. Last time I was there for a family gathering, they boiled up 75 pounds of crawfish, and everyone was shucking them and eating them, except for Bob from New Jersey. He just couldn't get into it, like Andrew.
My husband was nervous too. Just go for it!
Lol! It was a really good experience. Thanks for watching
I’m from New Orleans…..oh the smile on my face.
Thanks for watching! we have some other videos from our recent visit to New Orleans
I love eaten crawfish the season started about a month ago.
Its a great experience! The restaurant explained how the season can change, depending on thing like the weather.
Guessing these crawfish were probably good, but the best crawfish boil you will experience is in the backyard of someone’s home….The comraderie and familial gathering is what makes it very “special”…Congrats Andrew and Nicola!
Thanks for the advice! we would love to try a real backyard boil in the future!
Nashville Tennessee. Nashville hot chicken from places like Princes or Party Foul if you like spicy. But they do have different levels of spice. Also Loveless Cafe for a proper southern meal
Thanks for the recommendations, we would love to visit Tennessee! we will try and get there very soon!😉
Thanks for sharing! We have just uploaded our video from Prince' Hot Chicken, If you have time to watch. th-cam.com/video/ghAFRWtMuXY/w-d-xo.html
You need to travel to Maryland and try blue crabs.
Thanks for the suggestion! We will try and figure out a a trip to Maryland in the future.
Hey guys, if you’re in the Thousand Oaks area go try West of Orleans to go & Catering
Appreciate the suggestion, always on the lookout for great places to eat! Next time we will head there.
Lolol.. think of it as a small lobster.. dig in!!
Great Idea! thanks for the suggestion.
Hope you washed it down with Blackened Voodoo beer - yum!
Thanks for the tip! We missed the Blackened Voodoo beer, Next time we will try and find one!
Yes! Crawfish boils are fun. I'm glad to see you both trying new things, even if it is out of your comfort range. The only way to find out if you like something is to try it, right? 😂
Absolutely! It was a great experience...
Gonna search through your vids to see if you have but to save time here are some recommendations: Smothered pork chops, skillet cabbage, peach cobbler, candied yams, red beans and rice, dirty rice, fried catfish, potato salad, Sweet tea and a Arnold Palmer. That’s just to start lol. Hope you try these!
Thanks for the suggestions! we did try some of these. Here is one of the videos from Lil Dizzy's th-cam.com/video/waLcMsuOj40/w-d-xo.html
Everybody should have to do this. It reconnects your brain with our food supply. Chicken nuggets and sausage were something before we ordered them at the restaurant. The first few might be a bit hard but after a few your hands just do the work while you chat with your friends.
We would love to try a homestyle crawfish boil, sometime in the future!
It's really easy to impress brits with food. Usually salt and pepper will do the trick.
Crawfish are just starting to come into season. They will get bigger and come down a good bit in price in coming weeks.
I live in southeast Texas but only maybe 15 miles from Louisiana. Probably 25 restaurants in a two county area serve crawfish although they are very popular to do at home, especially for a crowd.
Thanks for the information! The restaurant explained the issues with this seasons crawfish haul! it was $14 per lb from memory, so i don't know if that is good or not?.
@@thebritstry
$14 a pound now is kind of towards the high end at restaurants but several locations near me are selling for that price. Even the cheaper ones aren’t much cheaper like $10-12 a pound.
A lot depends on the size. The ones you had, looked small to medium. Large are considerably bigger as they get longer but also a lot thicker and heavier. Most of the ones on your serving might get 3-4 times that size in weight later in the season. The large, later in the season crawfish if you measure the claws also can get about 8 inches or 20 centimeters and much heavier.
The crawfish are raised mostly in shallow ponds and grow fairly quickly so medium size crawfish now are running $9 a pound raw to boil your own. If this is a good season however, in April they might be $2.25 for medium to large. So much depends on how wet the winter was and not being in drought conditions. Southern Louisiana is very low and close to sea level for thousands of square miles and has a fairly mild winter so it is an excellent area for growing a huge crawfish crop with it being easy to keep the shallow ponds in water…. as long as it rains.
Crawfish are a great example of supply and demand. Early in the year like January and February the crawfish are smaller as they haven’t had time to grow so they may be $9-10 a pound raw but in April, May and June they might be $2 a pound for large. You can get way better crawfish for a much smaller price. About the middle or end of July the crawfish start tapering off and the season ends and we have to wait for next year’s crawfish to grow. Basically after about 6 months, they run out of the mature crawfish and have to wait for the next round. It isn’t an official season but a practical season.
Oh my goodness. I just eanted to reach in and start picking and pulling. I would have had those shells off that whole tray in just a few minutes.
Regarding Andrew being skeeved out, I totally get it. I hope the taste was worth rising over the squickiness.
Thanks for watching! we can see there would be a real skill to eating crawfish and practice makes perfect, right! we will definitely have to get some more in the future to hone our skills.
You're supposed to suck the heads until the eye of the crawfish crosses! Lol Just joking!
I could tell Andrew that! we would need an ambulance... LOL
lmao! I grew up in the south, so whatever we could get as meat and protein was king. I learned how to eat a crawfish the Spicy southern way ASAP when I was young and now, living in the north, it sucks that I don't have access to it anymore. But! We're planning on doing a southern style boil with shrimp, gator, crawfish, and sausage for my nephew coming on the way and I'm excited!
It was such a great experience! we would love tot try this again! hope you have fun at your celebration!
now this will make me so hungry yummy
I'm glad you enjoyed the video and that it got you in the mood for some good food! Thanks for watching
If you guys really want to try something unusual, I would suggest trying lutefisk sometime. It's really big in Minnesota because they have a huge Norwegian population, but you can also find it in Wisconsin. You will probably want to order a small amount of it if you try it, because it freaks a lot of people out. I tried it, and didn't think it was that bad. I know others though don't like the taste or the texture of it. That and the whole process of how it's made can really freak people out.
Thanks for the suggestion we have never heard of that! We are always been curious to try new things. We will add Lutefisk to our list of things to try.
@@thebritstry I have never tried it in the US, but I have tried it in Norway. I was really hesitant about trying it, but it didn't taste that bad to me. Then again I'm a bit weird in that I enjoy trying weird things. If you do try it, most places will serve other types of fish/food other than just Lutefisk because of how polarizing it is.
Everyone needs a Nicola for that extra nudge.
Lol!
This was fun. Nothing wrong with a little Earth Wind and Fire either. Lol. Hope it didn’t get you demonetized though.
There is a place between Tuscaloosa and Birmingham that has some amazing barbecue. Their house made sauce is some of the best I have ever had. Tangy. Perfectly seasoned. Wish I could remember the name of the place. Went there years ago.
Let us know if you remember! we would love to give it a try.
The first time I ordered some crawfish I had no idea it came like that. I tried, but didn't do too well. I wasn't as adventurous an eater back then. Now I absolutely LOVE them! And yes, you HAVE to suck the heads!
Great job guys!
Yes, we loved the experience, even if one of our faces didn't look like it!!! LOL.
There are other states with crawfish, they're actually fairly common. Oregon, for example, has them, and there are several good crawfish places in Portland. I did a little crawfish catching when I was a kid, myself. There's also clambakes and shrimp boils, crab boils....If you get some fresh yourself, a lot of stores sell seasoning packs. Just dump everything in a pot of boiling water.
We didn't know that Oregon or Portland had them too! Thanks for sharing that information.
Ahh come on Andrew be adventurous!!!!!!
He got involved in the end!! just need more time.. lol
Man, I love me some crawfish! Glad to see they like it. Sort of.
So good! it was a great expereince
When we moved to Louisiana from Colorado, my Hungarian mother used to put up her menu in front of her like a screen to block her view of my crawfish. She said it looked like a plate of bugs. Best bugs ever though.
Thanks for sharing that funny memory with us! The did taste great.
For 20 yrs I tried to get my wife to try crawfish. She went to New Orleans with her traveling group and they pressured her to eat some. The first thing she said when she got home was shut the hell up,I tried crawfish and I love it. 😂
It was such a great experience! We would definitely do it again.
I'm with Andrew on this one, I sorry I could not watch this!
They are like little fatty lobsters. You don't eat shrimp, lobster, and crab?
Sorry you couldn't watch! but thank you for taking the time to leave a comment.
@@JLDReactions I'm not into seafood but I'm afraid to even touch crab, lobster or anything like this.
The problem is me not you. Your channel is awesome
