They already used the EC-256 for the Bullet episode so they probably didn't want to do the EC-401 right after (or there's non in stock when filming). Same for amps, the Trivium guys are huge 5150/6505 enthusiast and there's the 40W Iconic combo that would have paired well while easily staying in budget.
@@andyhtfc632 Yeah but they probably don't plan ahead for these + these are fundamentally gear ads. Else the entire early 2000s can be summed to "get whatever does the best 5150 + 4x12 Mesa V30 + OD808 + ISP Decimator + EMG 81 sound in your price bracket". They probably went with the EC-256 in the Bullet rig because Padge plays an ESP, and ESP cleaned out most of the 200-300 series model in other shapes like a decade ago.
1:16 actually in between the Crusade and Shogun eras Corey and Matt were Dean artists. Corey had a signature Dean v and Matt had a signature ML. Matt’s ml had a rising sun graphic to represent his Japanese heritage
Great content love hearing this instead of all the blues and pentatonic scale stuff, we need more of this please! Going to order that Drop pedal for sure!
Excellent work as always. If I may offer a suggestion I personally would like to see: If a piece of gear doesn't work out, switch it for a piece of gear that does work. Like the Kaffir Lime didn't tighten it up enough, so get a different overdrive that works better. This is "Sound like", not "Stick with our first guess". If you don't sound like the artist in question, then you're failing.
Thanks for making a video on onw of my favorite bands of all time, Trivium. I hooked up ever since with them after hearing their Shogun masterpiece album a few years ago!
Yes, the video I've been waiting for. Amazing to finally see it. Would love to see a version of this video as By Busting The Bank with 7 string as well as I would love to see the following bands, Linkin Park, Rise Against, Luke Combs, Sepultura, and Bruno Mars's band. Keep up the great work.
The UA pedals or any digital unit with nice amp sounds, and a powered cab is a great idea, really great for sounds-like purposes. That Soldano sounded pretty poor though.
Pro: it really works well and over all feels and sounds good to play! Con: The sound gets a bit muddy/dark and I can feel a little (just a tiny little!!) latency… so it changes the feel a little bit. But it just works great and is an awesome solution on to get various tunings on a budget.
It works great. Latency does get more profound the lower you push it, and digital artifacts can pop up as you go lower as well, but it offers a ton of versatility in a live setting, and in the live mix, it won't be very obvious. Several pros across multiple genres use it.
Should have bought an LTD or Edwards man. Buyer beware with epiphone. Absolute trash, I got an Mkh origins brand new in bone white couldn't believe how bad it was. Sold it after a week and bought an Edwards E-MA-135c, Which is just an ESP E-2 for Japanese market only. 1350 brand new vs 1900 for the mkh after tax. Edwards has real ebony smooth as glass, no mother of toilet seat inlays, MASSIVE stainless frets, a bone nut and all Japanese gotoh hardware, locking tuners and seymour duncan blackouts. Made in Japan with love instead of Made in China with disdain.
@ Honestly, I got it for free with another Gibson LP and an Orange amp. It's a 2015 model and I haven't had any issues with it. That being said, I would like to get an Edwards or ESP at some point.
@@zaturnneo OH you've got the older MKH sig. And yeah for free.99 can't complain. I'd go with edwards over ESP unless you're buying in Japan. If you've ever been to a guitar shop in Japan it is very very clear they keep the best examples for themselves. If you're going to buy an Edwards you'll need buy used unless you are going to Japan.
@ That's good info to know! Yeah, a girl was I dating had got the gear as part of a divorce and was just sitting on it. She said take it all and I didn't hesitate.
The current set of RRX24 looks pretty good. I wasn't a huge fan of the subtle "its totally not copying Alexi's ESP" thing since the plastic grey/pink inlay version looks godawful compared to the Alexi ESP/Edwards, but the new Battleship Grey and Army Drab green looks pretty sweet, the Wildchild bumblebee color combination is a classic look, and the "definitely not the Alexi Hexed" purple one looks pretty good largely because of the white inlays.
Tbf the stuff i got into from them was played on reasonably priced kit... i played with the same guitar and amp as him working part time in a supermarket 😂...
I think at least Matt has now pretty much stopped the whole stacking overdrives thing and is now pretty passionate about using a clean boost instead. But I think hes using some weird old very temperamental pedal that would have blown this budget alone probably 🤣
Third, I was literally thinking about how dope a Trivium sounds like would be in the shower a couple hours ago... Also: the lack of Ascendancy riffs hurt my soul a little.
Love me some Trivium! Sleep Token - despite being one of my favorite bands ever - didn't really shine in this context. Sleep Token's guitar and bass spend a lot of time staying out of the way of the drums, vocals, and piano/synths that give that band its unique vibe. Conversely, Trivium is pretty well suited to a Sounds Like; the guitars do most of the heavy lifting. Trivium is a solid Protein & Veggies platter of metal tones.
When did they use Marshall? Matt basically always talks about how they used Peavey 5150, so I don't see why not try to fit the 6505 mh into budget? that paired with the PPC112 totals $900. Get a cheaper guitar not worrying as much about the pickups (and getting an actual les paul scale length guitar for Matt's rig) and youll get a rig that is more similar to the actual gear they use.
Next one should be "Sound like As I Lay Dying" and it's just a silent video with no one in it
bro...
Too soon
Amazing 😂
It would be just vocals.
@@vorpalbladesand an undercover detective just to the side somewhere.

Should bring back the rising sun guitar
PLEASE do a "Sound Like Knocked Loose"!
Evh, orange cab, way huge swollen pickle, a pitch fork, and a 7 string ice man or 7 string tuned to A standard
Absolutely monstrous guitar sound on the new album.
1:16 actually in between the Crusade and Shogun eras Corey and Matt were Dean artists. Corey had a signature Dean v and Matt had a signature ML. Matt’s ml had a rising sun graphic to represent his Japanese heritage
Matt’s Dean was very cool looking! 🤘🏼
These segments are so great! Especially for those of us on a budget. I'd love to see a Sound like Papa Roach or Atreyu.

“Back in the Ascendancy days” … yeesh, now I feel old. 😂
They used all digital in those days... this video is how to buy extra stuff to sound like.
Is it 20 years yet?

Let's go, still would've been fun to see an episode on Ghost as it is Halloween but I still love Trivium regardless so you guys nailed it

The trivium sound is the 5150
keep it up. we need more content by these guys.
Oh yeah.!
You're nailing it with Strife.
Perfekt interaction.
And I really need to listen to more Trivium again.
the In The Court Of The Dragon riff on that jackson sounded really really good, nice!
Nice one! Always excited to see what's up next, I'm really glad the series is back :)
Before watching, hell yeah !! Exciting video!!
The one we’ve all been waiting for
Love these guys. Great videos!!!
Finally, thank you Andertons ❤
Ante definitely had it. Nice to hear these bands (also thinking bfmv) on this channel!
These two need to do more of these!
Sad we didn't see the 7's but the drop was a great shout! Love these videos
he's not going to sell many ice creams going at that speed, loved the vid boys.
thanks guys.
Love a Sound Like. Even though I have never ever heard of the bands #oldman
I really wanted y’all to cover Pull Harder on the Strings of your Martyr.

I love you guys! I love you trivium 🖤
Well done gentlemen. Fun video.
YES
"You know how long I been waiting for this? Whoo i'm bout to make a [rig] for myself right here"
Impressed by the UAFX pedal. I'd love to see you do Mastodon (preferably guitar and bass, rather than just Bill and Brent), Machine Head or Gojira.
The Digitech Drop is helping these low tuned bands something fierce. Now I want to see a sounds like Breaking Benjamin thanks to that pedal
1:36 Haha I have recently got the exact same RR ❤
It indeed is a beast !
That outro sounded sick af! \m/
I have one of the older Matt Damon signatures in Crimson Red Burst. No binding.
Great guitar.
Not playing pull harder is criminal! Great job though guys!
Finally a video thats not all that constant blues and jazz nonsense.
Awesome
I’m sure y’all will never do this but I’d love a “Sounds Like Converge”.
Lamb of God? Great work on this one.
that UAD ANTI is soooo gooooooodddd
He pulled out the Mini Soldano and I cheered because Iove that little amp head.
Do a "Sound like Neal Schon" from 1980s Journey
OH BABY YES
Love these when they come up, but I'm dying for an Andertons review of the new Jack White gear!
👍👍
Nice guys
never clicked so fast in my life!
Matt does more leads than he is getting credit for... Same thing for the BFMV video lol. Great vids
0:49 That grandpa at the background, probably a punkrock guitarist.
Ghost next?
Nice one!!!!! Muse?
I would have went with a Demon 7. The active mount pickups look so much smoother.
You guys should do sounds like Asking Alexandria next that would be awesome
Trivium, Sound like, andertons = like!
Need a sounds like Billy Talent!
It’d be great to see nano cortex used for this segment
