  • Here Liz demonstrates from drblakeshealingsole.com the method of contrast bathing to reduce swelling in a body part. The patient always starts with heat and ends with cold. The alternating back and forth normally lasts around 20 minutes. Slowly more heat is added to the ratio with a goal of 4 minutes heat 1 minute ice for 4 cycles or 20 minutes.

Do you end with cold water? Or the hot water? I'm confused because some say end with cold and others say end with hot. Thanks in advance.

+Alberto Armijos Always end in cold since you need to neutralize the potential heating up of inflammation. Dr Rich Blake

No it should end with hot water because hot water induce vasodilation which can improve blood circulation and clear swelling and inflammation. Whereas clod water does vasoconstriction which doesn't clear any inflammation
