  • Lymphedema is an accumulation of lymphatic fluid causing swelling, usually in one or both arms or legs. The condition develops when the lymphatic system is impaired due to disease, infection or trauma to the lymph nodes, including surgical removal or radiation treatment for cancer.
The this video is a brief review of self-manual lymphatic drainage. There are many variations of this technique, which should only be performed as directed by your certified lymphedema therapist. This is an abbreviated video and if you are following along, please pause the video and perform the technique slowly, as directed by your therapist.

I’m so glad that I found this video!!! I left the ER this past Tuesday swollen like Mr Klump.. my legs and feet were so tight and uncomfortable I couldn’t stand it anymore.. and my search led me here! Within an hour I’m 85% flexible.. where I could barely bend before.. Thank you so very much!!!!

I went to the therapist today and was given a follow-on plan to do these massages but was concerned I was doing it wrong, but this video cleared up a lot of my concerns, and now I am excited for tomorrow.

The VA Hospital here in NY gave us a Flexitouch compression device for my husband's lymphedema. And on non device days, (he uses it 3x weekly), we do these massage techniques. It has helped enormously, the swelling he has is quite mild. He is overweight, his A1C diabetic numbers are normal...so we are watching carbs, drinking more water, and luckily he enjoys biking. And also we live in a walk up building. Getting loved ones and family members involved is always a plus. I am happy to help, and it is, though this sounds strange -- a bonding for us..?? Hmm..meantime, hubby is doing fine.

Please buy a product that is dirt cheap and does not need a prescription and it has been used for thousands of years with the ayurvedic Vedic Canon of healing : METHI POWDER .. it is the ground up seeds from the fenugreek plant and is in natural healer for diabetes... it also balances hormones for both men and women and also gets rid of hot flashes .
The stuff is horribly bitter tasting... really it is the worst.. but it gets results and you should just mix it with a little bit of water or whatever and then chase it with a large glass of something better tasting .
After that your husband can soak about 8 seeds fenugreek seeds in water at night and drink them first thing in the morning .
He needs to get off of all those synthetic diabetic things which actually do not heal .
I also knew two people who healed themselves completely of diabetes and no longer needed the injections by simply eating Pineberry which is identical to a white strawberry but has a bit of a pineapple taste.
Please research this and you will see what I'm talking about... there have been cures for diabetes as well as cancer for quite some time now.. please do your research and you will see what I'm talking about

That Flexitouch compression device is pretty cool. I'm also a vet and I'm going to look into to as a additional aid to my compression garments and lymphedema massaging techniques. I experienced its use while, at a office visit, under the supervision of lymph.massage therapist. It was welcomed relief, especially when my right calf was swollen. It was explained that it was a device for regular or frequent use, that the recommended preference, for me, would be the velcro compression calf garmet, which I am using for the affected right calf and a for the unaffected left calf. I had by doctor's directions, been using compression stockings for both legs for some time. The compression garment for the left leg has proven to be a great replacement for my needs and is not as much of a pain to put on or take off as the stocking. I'm will check with my therapist to find out if my current state is good or not for the Flexitouch. If so, then I will next check with the V.A. and go from there. I'm glad you posted your comment. At the very least I can now recommend other active and prior military to contact the v.a. for their swelling and lymphedema issues.

    • @gardensofthegods
      @gardensofthegods 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

Listen to me : Lexapro destroyed my memory severely about 9 years ago ...you need to get off of that Lexapro as soon as possible ! .. but you cannot do it cold turkey or you will really suffer... so you need to taper off of it slowly where you just decrease the amount a little bit each day the problem is you might still end up with two weeks of No Sleep which will drive you crazy and mimic psychosis.. so when that time comes you want to make sure you have a good quality sleeping pill and none of the over-the-counter stuff but I would rather see you doing something natural that will help you sleep such as valerian root or you can go to an Indian Grocers or Mediterranean Grocers and buy a bottle of real orange blossom water ...I prefer the Cortas brand and you take one teaspoon and hot water at bedtime and it really does make you drowsy . their brand of rose water has also very good and you can drink that during the day take little sips while you're tapering off the Lexapro it is very good for calming people down it is like a chill pill and it is all-natural if you buy that brand . Please please get away from the Lexapro I would urge you to do your research and see how it gives you brain damage... please do your research on TH-cam and you will find people who have suffered horribly from brain damage from Lexapro one of whom was a woman who actually used to sell it as a pharmaceutical rep... it has taken me years to get back to normal with my memory and you should just go to an Indian Grocers and buy ashwagandha powder... it helps the mind to turn away from negative thoughts and helps us deal with stress because it is an adaptogen... it will help you sleep better at night and then you need to buy powdered haritaki which you can also get dirt cheap at the Indian Grocers. haritaki increases oxygen to the brain by 300% and it also makes you smarter and it is another one that cuts off the Mind from fear and negative thoughts
haritaki also goes by the name of Harde... at its botanical name is chebula terminalia... please use the powder and what you are supposed to do is brush your teeth with it as if it is toothpaste but do not spit it out you must swallow it because it needs to mix with your enzymes from your saliva to work effectively... same thing with when you rinse out your mouth first you rinse please swallow it do not spit it out .
you could also buy something called Vacha which also is called vaj and it is also called Sweet Flag root and it also goes by the official name of sweet calamus root.... please see the videos on that as it is another healer of the brain and helps make you more intelligent and have less psychological problems and less anxiety.... they also sell kammarkas and that is another one you can do your research on it on TH-cam .
please know that ashwagandha actually balances the hormones for both men and women and it does not increase the testosterone unless the testosterone is needed to be increased .
you should do it within the first few hours you are awake and also do some it bedtime.
make sure you also buy SHATAVARI powder at the Indian Grocers again it is very cheap and again it balances the hormones for men and women alike except it also keeps you YOUNG and JUICY and slowly REVERSES AGING and yes it really does work... I am proof of that and it's good for the bones .... do the ashwagandha and shatavari together with a little bit of a protein like milk .
also at the Indian Grocers please buy rosewater but you have to be careful because some of them are not real you do not want anything that says natural flavor because that usually means the opposite.... my family and I prefer the Cortas brand.... take a couple sips of that a day especially around the time anything is going to upset you or cause anxiety and it works like a chill pill.... it also makes a wonderful skin toner . and to help you sleep at night you want the same brand of orange blossom water and you take a teaspoon of that in hot water before bedtime and it will indeed make you drowsy that is a very good toner for oily skin .
please get away from all serotonin uptake Inhibitors as they cause brain damage and please get away from all big Pharma drugs as they are the second major cause of people needing liver transplants after street drugs ... the second highest cause for liver damage believe it or not is ibuprofen and you can research this as more and more doctors are speaking out against that and other big Pharma drugs .
please learn more about ayurvedic healing and all the natural ways you can heal yourself without any doctor prescriptions and they are all natural and very cheap .
See these channels : Dr.Paul Haider.... if you live in America you can call him and it doesn't cost you anything from your cell phone .
Then there is the NYISHAR channel and his name is also Paul .
The Super Foods Evolution channel is also good . please get away from old big Pharma stuff.... I can't stress this enough.... please do your research and watch the videos of people whose lives have been destroyed by antibiotics I can't make this stuff up... please go to the Indian Grocers and buy powdered NEEM .... it is a powerful antiviral antifungal antibiotic and it even helps keep mosquitoes away from you by mixing it with water and spraying it on your skin..... please start looking at all the medicinals at the better Indian Grocers and look them up on your internet and TH-cam and you will learn a lot .

All SSRI meds do not work for everyone. As an example, Venlafaxine (Effexor) is contraindicated with a wide variety of medicines.
If Lexapro isn't working for you, or has this odd side effect, not even listed in the usual side effects, notify your doctor or psychiatrist immediately. It is likely a drug that needs to be reduced over time for you to get off it. Then you can look into therapy or other medications.
Make sure your doctors all know every OTC, herbal, prescriptions you are taking. To see if there are any bad interactions utilize drugbank.ca - put the drug name in and scroll down to see if there are interactions, like for blood pressure or other common meds, and tell your doctors.
Take charge of researching your medicines and the situations for which you are being medicated - this offers you a bit of control so you can speak knowledgeably with your doctors.

gerald maine I don't know how you are doing now, but from about Feb 2020 to June 29, 2020, I was experiencing severe and painful swelling, right side foot and thigh. My my primary care physician gave me a referral for the lymphadema massage therapy. It gave me some improvement. The therapist decided to have me try a calf compression garmet [ Note: see as an example at www.brightlifedirect.com/products/readywrap-quick-fit-calf-unit] to see how that might be a supplemental aide in diminishing my swelling and pain. The therapist referred referred me to another place for measurement and issuance of the calf compression garmet.
While waiting for the delivery of the compression garmet, I had returned for a follow up visit with my primary care physician and for some unknown reason and out of the clear blue he asked me how I felt about trying the Unna Boot, to see how that may help in further reducing the calf swelling and pain. I told him I had not heard of such a thing before, but I trusted his instincts and said "okay". He put the referral in, and 6 days later, I had an in home nurse visit me, at home, to apply the Unna Boot.
The first morning after the Unna Boot application, the swelling had reduced some, but more importantly my pain level had gone from over a 10, where I had difficulty walking to the bathroom , WITH a cane, to a pain level of about 5 and walking WITHOUT a cane to the bathroom. As of today, Oct 9, 2020, may pain level is "0" to, at most, a "1". I had the in-home nurse visits, 2 times a week, until I was "discharged" 5 days ago. I am now using the calf compression garmet and the the lymphadema therapist recently measured my right calf as being smaller than my unaffected left calf.
The Unna Boot was designed to be a temporary measure, then I was to transition to the Compression garmet, which I am now using. It is much more effective than just compression socks. Unlike compression socks, the Unna Boot can be worn when you go to bed.
Here is a cut and paste of what an Unna Boot is all about:
      'Unna Boot - Wound Care Advisorwoundcareadvisor.com › unna-boot
An Unna boot is a special dressing of inelastic gauze impregnated with zinc, glycerin, or calamine that becomes rigid when it dries. It is used for managing venous leg ulcers and lymphedema in patients who are ambulatory.'
Talk with you physician about my experiences and see if it may be applicable to yours.

Repeat that sequence 10 times?!!! How much time are we talking. 2 hours?
Seriously, are we talking all in one sitting, or throughout the day? How often should this be repeated? Every day? Three days a week? How much?

The one thing these people LACK when teaching is? They FAIL to say how often and for how long???
The video's I have watched NEVER give a time frame? But I am imagine, its should be done 3 to 5 times a week? How much TIME spent would be nice to know? I do dry skin brushing and that takes about 15min. Or I should say I just started doing dry brushing. I have noticed a little bit of difference. 🙏🙏🙏
    Its hard as I have R.A. 😞😞😞
