As someone whose only played D&D but really wants to try VTM, these videos are extremely helpful!

We're happy to help! As someone who also primarily played D&D, I hope you get to play and are hooked like I was

You've got a great vibe for this subject, comprehensive knowledge on it, and serious video skills. Nice work. I'm sticking around here.

That means a lot. I'm terrible with everything technical when it comes to filming and editing so it takes me a painfully long time to create these. Absolutely worth it to know others appreciate it.

Thank you for the video. I have a lot of old vampire the masquerade books from my gf. Would you reccomend using those still or invest in new material

Hello, I have been storytelling WoD games for quite some time. Old VTM material meshes pretty well with newer systems, however they have different systems like VTM 1st, Revised, 2nd, and V20 use blood points instead of hunger die that V5 uses. Most VTM players are split between the V20 edition and V5. The system this video is mostly speaking of is V5. Whichever system you choose will need a little homebrew for minor things like how older editions has a dodge ability, newer systems just use athletics instead.

If you don't have nostalgia for the old game, I recommend diving into 5th edition. Luckily the old books can still be very useful for game lore, inspiration, and maybe some homebrew. There are also free materials for 5th edition you can check out to make sure it's a good fit before you start investing.

Quick question what other 3rd edition book should I buy if I want to play a mafia game (ignoring supernaturals) I have the mafia book but it's missing most backgrounds I also have vtm 5th edition

I haven't read the Mafia sourcebook, but from what I understand I don't believe you need additional books. Especially if you aren't going to include any supernatural elements. If you want more options for character creation, you can grab the Player's Guide Revised for Vampire. Obviously it will have a lot of options you'll want to ignore, but will include plenty of options that mortals can take as well. That is assuming by ignoring supernaturals, you mean altogether in your game. If you just mean the players are making mortal characters in the World of Darkness, that's a different story.
