Thanks for another well made video. I went to Seaside one time and the sand was like glass. We couldn't detect a thing. This young 10 year old boy would run around and spot a clam every couple minutes for his dad. He was seeing something we definitely didn't. He was like a magician.

Nice video! Razors are soooo yummy! I'm from Southern Oregon but have only caught razors in Alaska. We mostly go for gapers and cockles here on the south coast.
    A couple suggestions:
    1) Clams toughen as you cook them, eventually getting the texture of a rubber band. Typically you only want to cook around 90 seconds per side to get a nice tender clam.
    2) Use unsalted butter to reduce the saltiness.

This is the second one of your videos I have watched. Many of us pass up a chance to catch fish or seafood because we don't know what is or isn't safe to eat or how to prepare it and what parts to avoid. Hats off to you for cleaning and cooking it right on the beach or in the parking lot so we can learn. Having not grown up in the area we would not know otherwise. Thanks..

Otherwise I would be all over them :) Nice Video!

No problem, I was just stating that they are present in CA but the Department of Health suggest you do not take them most years as they are toxic from filter feeding on naturally toxic plankton.

Google it. No one has ever died from red tide poisoning in Cali. I believe this is an attempt to discourage recreational fishing and not the first. Red tides dont effect large stretches of beach. When they happen there very limited so closing the season because of a claimed generalised high reading doesnt make sense.

geoduck. they are found in inland tidal waters for some reason geoducks don't like ocean beaches. washington state and british columbia in canada have huge inland tidal areas so geoducks are common and plentiful.

@@namtrinh4695 15 is the limit, and continuously checking with the department of fish and wildlife for new updates. covid19 shut down clamming here in Wa since March 2020.. my fruit trees are missing out on valueable clam guts and clam nectar for healthy fruit and rapid growth! Hopefully we get some Fall & Winter digs this season.. GL

@@namtrinh4695 best thing to do is just keep searching the Department of Fish & Wildlife, or call them for clamming dates which usually are heavy in Fall & Winter, but not to far fetched to see some Spring Time Day Digs, but not as often as the fall and winter night digs!

They are a very mild clam taste. Have you ever had and type of clams? These are subtle and meaty a little chew to them. I much prefer little neck steamers they have a much stronger clam taste but razors are dam good. They aren't like squid at all different texture different taste. They make amazing chowder with big chunks of clam in your soup is really great. These are the funnest clams to harvest in the NW.
