    My dad used to us salt and dump it over the holes. The clams would dig themselves out. Used to do that with my dad back when we lived in coosbay

    That Louisiana fish fry is good but it is salty just mix a little bit of flower in it and it takes some of that salt away and gives it a nice golden color that's my that's my secret I love that fish fry

    Not sure where you are digging but if go up on the Washington state coast line( Roosevelt, PB, moclips, etc.. the clams are far bigger. We have been allowed 20. And extra large is what we have been getting.

    Fresh chowder is quick and easy. The necks are best this way. Make sure you have plenty of oyster crackers and Tobasco to go with it. fry the diggers, they're way more tender...

    I am 80 years old and I dug my limit last week. Been digging for as long as I can remember but went to using the tube as I got older. Always face the ocean and angle just slightly towards the surf. I hardly ever break one. What happened to the digger part of the clam? They are the most tender when they’re fried, the body or zipper part is usually tough and I make chowder out of it.There is nothing better than fried clams or clam chowder using the razor clams.

    When clam hunting and you get into a competition with another guy in the group to see who can get the most clams in the least time, the only proper (albeit immature) way to classify the competition is "Let's see which one of us has the bigger siphon" lol. More fitting if it's Geoducks though but yeah haha

    I was on Copalis beach on Sunday night and got my limit. My first time. Took me a few tries to not crack the shells but got some advice on how to angle my clam gun. Excellent clam sauce for pasta and also chowder.

  • @user-hr9oz8xv6n
    @user-hr9oz8xv6n 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Don't submerge them in boiling water, it cooks them that way... pour the water over them, they'll let go of their shells and remain tender.

  • @Cleanbob503
    @Cleanbob503 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    It’s so much easier to let your clam sit in a cold fridge for 12 hours in nice clean water and they actually purge them selves of sand from the inside. The problem putting hot water boiling hot water 190° or more on a muscle which a clam is a muscle make some way too tough my family is lives on the coast for generations and I’ve seen people do this method but the clams never taste good always too tough

  • @hooks4nooks
    @hooks4nooks 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wondering about the little crystal in the clam when cleaning? Isn't there a little clear crystal thing you have to get out of the clam? I've heard some locals up in Forks talk about this. Where is it located and how to remove? Anyone?

    • @vinceblak4425
      @vinceblak4425 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So the natives "destroyed an ecosystem" for a couple thousand years while feeding off these clams by the ton? Get educated. There's a catch limit for a reason, but you wouldn't know it living in your concrete jungle.
