He's all about spacing and timing when using Yamato. His draw slashes are very high damage and wide range, plus give you a DT and style boost if you allow the sheathing animation. Use those moves to catch whole groups so you will have the space to sheath. Use Beowulf for straight damage output. Even on a fresh file it tears through all but DMD enemies with basic attacks. On Very hard with no upgrades you can kill most everything in the early levels with basic Beowulf attacks. In DT It's ridiculously powerful. Very hard hell Vanguard goes down in about 5 or 6 hits. Force Edge is good for crowd control since it uses some of Rebellions moves. Use it the same as you would Rebellion. Just learn when to use each weapon and when to use your more powerful hits. Timing and positioning are all Vergil needs to break the game.
I may just be a DMC veteran, but once you play dante must die. You learn how to play the game 100% including vergil. Yeah, each character has their own kind of mechanics and gameplay. But the core of it is still there. And yes, I play all DMC in dante must die mode. Something about enemy devil triggers just kick in my adrenaline/dopamine. There's no going back to normal/easy after that. Turbo and automatic turned off. I'm so hyped for 5. Ya'll slacking if you only play normal or easy. And automatic/turbo mode is just a sin. Hard mode and up

Dante's killer bee isn't much less OP tbh. They did implement multiplayer in DMC3 (through the doppelganger style and the final battle, a second controller can control Vergil or your doppelganger, couple that with some infinite DT and you've got yourself a multiplayer game).
problem is - camera only follows the main player - Dante, so his doppelgänger always ends up off screen. also you have to actively cast doppelganger every time a battle commence, not enjoyable.

I've gotta ask, how do use the Summoned Swords? By which I mean have you switched which button shoots them? Because it's a royal pain trying to use them while doing all the other things you're also doing
