The real F-35's infrared 360° camera array and VR display helmet means that it literally is doing just that. The F-35 pilot can see through the bottom of their own aircraft and from far greater distances and with greater accuracy than any previous aircraft. Its AESA radar can lock on dozens of targets simultaneously while also providing EW support and providing high-bandwidth datalinks to other F-35s in the area, up to and including including weapons-grade locks. It's not as manoeuvrable as the F-22 or Flanker, but it's at least as good as an F-16 or F-18, especially since it can carry its weapons internally which greatly reduces drag. They are said to have the capabilities (more or less) of the AIM-120 (even if we do not know which version of it) when it comes to maximum range. However, F-35's are going to need bigger missiles such as AIM-260 or Meteor... in the future, they'll probably carry 4 very long range missiles + 4 Peregrine able to cover short to extended middle range. All this internally... it would be quite impressive.
Seeing as how none of the NATO adversary countries have anything even remotely close to NATO stealth capabilities, I believe it will be a hell of a long time before we need to worry about maintaining Air Superiority in any of the conflicts that arise over the next 15-20yrs.
Well the Russians say there's no such thing as true stealth. That, if it's in the air, they can see it. The real question is - from how far away? Certainly the SU-57 was drawn up with this as it's primary design principle. This might not be hyperbole as a Russian SAM did shoot down a F-117 Nighthawk in Serbia way back in 1999. I've heard rumors they've developed systems which can track the air disturbances a plane makes and thus target the intruder even if they can't identify the plane itself (there's been similar talk about much the same being researched to track deep running submarines). If true, and we know the Russians are very good at developing weapons technology, then the counter to stealth may already be developed and is awaiting deployment at the critical moment.
Do you even know what exactly the Russians came up with stealth? As a novice radio engineer, I must say that stealth is not invisibility, it's like a smooth surface that reflects light, but instead of light, radio waves, but the difference is that radio waves with a shift to longer wavelengths will simply be absorbed by the aircraft, and from aircraft with emitters of this wavelength just don't hide
This is the Lightning, imagine this thing sitting silently on data-link while an F-15 with the 12 AIM-260's comes in a lets loose on anyone in its way.

He already stacked the scenario by giving himself awacs (which F35 didnt need nor made any use of) covered by SAMs (again useless for the 35) and loaded with long range heatseekers.
good showing of why the f-35b is one of the most popular planes on the market at the moment. might not be the best one circle fighter or two circle fighter, but gs, who is an exceptional sim pilot, didn't even see it before he got shot down along with his awacs. can't fight what you can't see
The European F-35 with the Meteor missile is very scary. In reality an f-35 would never push a target like that. Great video demonstrating L.O. aircraft vs 4th Gen.

I really want to see the load out of that F-35. I know it can carry the Meteor internally but that looked like unrealistically high number of Meteors carried internally.
Just exactly how many meteor missiles did the F-35B have ? A major limitation behind the JSF is that it can only carry 4 medium/long range air-to-air missiles in it's internal weapons bay. Using any external pylons/hardpoints will compromise it's low observability aspect ...
I like the Flanker's cockpit. It's so much more cluttered and "old-fashioned", actually fits the stereotype that non-fighter jet people have about fighter jets.
I really think that at 12:13 you can really see how smart the meteor missile is. instead of hitting the ground after loosing lock it pulls up to keep on flying and maybe turn around? (not so sure about the last part tho)

However, F-35's are going to need bigger missiles such as AIM-260 or Meteor... in the future, they'll probably carry 4 very long range missiles + 4 Peregrine able to cover short to extended middle range.
All this internally... it would be quite impressive.
That would be load for f22, 35 can carry 4 120s so it would be 2+4
@@Asghaad F-35 should soon get a sidekick rack ... allowing the aircraft to carry up to 6 AIM-120 internally
@@Asghaad A and C variant can carry 6 aim120 with sidekick upgrades, it's an additional 2 aim120 hanging on the bay door.
@@artiefakt4402 raytheon said it's 65-100km
What's interesting to me, is the awacs getting hit without the s300s even engaging. Awacs is a serious strategic asset.
I'd love to see this without AWACS to see how differently it goes
A flanker vs an f-35 with no AWACS either side just means the flanker dies quicker cuz the F-35 won’t be shooting the HVAA first.
Finally! Score one for Fat Amy! I suspect this video is what the near to mid future will look like.
10:36 "I think AWACS is gone." LOL!
We need more f-35 content
Bvr against F35s and F22s is like a horror movie.
Trying to close distance may be even scarier... remember that one time GS looked in a mirror ?
The F-35 cannot currently carry Meteor missiles. 2027 at the very earliest.
@@StromBugSlayer they can carry AMRAAMs I believe though
This is the Lightning, imagine this thing sitting silently on data-link while an F-15 with the 12 AIM-260's comes in a lets loose on anyone in its way.
Another awesome video mate!
Well done and keep up the great work!
At least you recognized her position/ direction correctly !!
I'm in early, almost as early as GS saying he thinks he dodged a missile
Ooooooo...shot fired :)
Come to think of it... ive never seen anyone fly the F35 in DCS.. also that wide touch screen cockpit... id love to see u make a few videos flying the F35
This BVR content is great. It’s more fun to watch than dogfights.
Battle Penguin + Meteor = terrifying
Definitely want to see you do some sneaky BVR f35 fights
Germany also wants to implement the Meteor into the F-35s
DO RAFALE VS SU57 PLEASE !
I bet that F-35 knows what you had for breakfast before climbing into that cockpit.
I'd have to say that's a great combination unless your facing it. Never really locked
GS: "I'm going to be sneaky and do some sneaky stuff."
F-35: **watching the Su-27 on his radar** "Should I tell him? Nah..." **launches Meteor at almost point blank range**
THANK U SO MUCH FOR DOING F-35
“The ground was supposed to confuse his targeting system” - Growling
I love this line 😂
Do you hear that, Mr. Anderson? That is the sound of inevitability.
First video that starts with a sponsor? Glad you're growing!
Wasn't expecting this to end up differently. Given all the advantages the F-35 had, maybe you should have started in hills while he should've started over flat terrain.
He already stacked the scenario by giving himself awacs (which F35 didnt need nor made any use of) covered by SAMs (again useless for the 35) and loaded with long range heatseekers.
good showing of why the f-35b is one of the most popular planes on the market at the moment. might not be the best one circle fighter or two circle fighter, but gs, who is an exceptional sim pilot, didn't even see it before he got shot down along with his awacs. can't fight what you can't see
The B is the VTOL variant that only the US marines and UK navy uses.... Everyone else is buying the A
Your AWACS absolutely Tokyo drifted into that Meteor missile.
BABE WAKE UP NEW GROWLING SIDEWINDER VIDEO!!! W creator.
Literarily knew its going to end this way...good vid
The European F-35 with the Meteor missile is very scary. In reality an f-35 would never push a target like that. Great video demonstrating L.O. aircraft vs 4th Gen.
You have some of the most entertaining DCS content. I love it.
As a brit, happy to be represented 👍
5th Generation purpose-built missile-duelist vs. 4th Gen... that was only going to end in tears.
Stealth... is the key.
Idk if i just havent noticed it before but this is the second video in a row where GS did an aileron roll for no reason and im totally here for it because even though im afraid if heights.. you put me in a multi million dollar fighter jet you bet your sweet ass im doing a superfluous roll at 30k ft. Hell yeah brother.
Seems like putting the Meteor missile in the F35 is a real game changer.
Moar F35 with GS flying! Lovin’ it.😅
Cool video man!!! That being said, can I recommend you an unpopular historical event? In 1999 there was silght tension between Australia and Indonesia over space territory. Allegedly this event almost turn into an epic dogfight between the two, but in the end it never happened. Anywho, back then the Aussie was flying a pair of F/A-18 Hornet, while on the Indonesian side they sent their two BAE Hawk 109/209. If it's not too much trouble, please make this dogfight event happen.
It wouldn't last long. Hawk is a great little jet, but has nothing like the performance to sustain a fight with an F-18.
@@EvoraGT430 I understand your sentiment. But GS did great on F-16 vs Su-35 over Syria. We'll see how it'd turns out, after all he can splashes anything againts more advance adversaries, and remember "it's not the plane it's the pilot".
Silly question: when an AWACS gets smoked, is there any hope for the passengers?
hell no
GS saw the dirt and was like “hmm, this looks tasty”
I really want to see the load out of that F-35. I know it can carry the Meteor internally but that looked like unrealistically high number of Meteors carried internally.
Pretty hard to punch-out from tree-top level! RIP, GS!😂🔥🙌
Just exactly how many meteor missiles did the F-35B have ? A major limitation behind the JSF is that it can only carry 4 medium/long range air-to-air missiles in it's internal weapons bay. Using any external pylons/hardpoints will compromise it's low observability aspect ...
This f35 had 4 meteors
I like the Flanker's cockpit. It's so much more cluttered and "old-fashioned", actually fits the stereotype that non-fighter jet people have about fighter jets.
I really think that at 12:13 you can really see how smart the meteor missile is. instead of hitting the ground after loosing lock it pulls up to keep on flying and maybe turn around? (not so sure about the last part tho)
Once again just as I get back lol.
F35 with meteors is really hard to beat, I think the only thing scarier is an f35 with r37Ms. Or f22s with those Missiles but that's definitely not happening.
@@mephistoxd2627 true, the f22 might not be able to take full advantage of the meteor's range. And it almost definitely cannot lock something at 300km for the r37M while the f35 probably can.
F22 with AIM260's is also very scrary
When That Missile hit I DROPPED MY COFFEE!!!!
Dig it! Try that again but go balls out towards his awacs/support.
Smoooooooked!! Good video my friend.
