The *AI* managed to disallow internal HRe wards by 1530 in my game.
When the AI can do that; something is busted.
I notice it become a lot harder to play as an Italian state as Austria likes to intervene more. Before I could expand vastly with florence and by the time I left the HRE I could just have one last war against the Pope and Italy was good.

This technique is now hotfixed (the IA exploits no longer work)! The beginning steps are still valid but revoking in 1480 is no longer easy. I did vassal swarm Bradenburg emporer, than formed Prussia and got a pu on Hungary and then dismanteled, The ottomans, mamluks, colonized the whole New World and then stole the mandate of heaven and formed The HRE, that was a fun game.
How the heck did you manage to steal mandate of heaven? Did you change your religion?

Since this has been patched and totally ipossible now, could you make a new guide to austria or update it ? I can't pass more than 4/5 reform before the relogious mess and i dont know how to deal with it
Ncb war and force coversion. If the center of reformation started in a capital, that will be enough to stop it
No cb war and force conversion and even tho suboptimal take religious ideas for if you need to manually convert as reform centers have a 5% resistance to conversion.

Coffee was not popular in Austria until the 1600’s. So the video was correct in not referring to the famous Vienense coffee houses of later centuries. Although tea wasn’t popular in Austria until the 1600’s either....🤔

I was playing as france to test the new dlc and, because of this event, i ended up at war with burgendy and its vassals, austria, moscova, hungary, spain etc. And even if the ottoman joined (idk really why they joined lol), they had almost two times the amount of troups i had lol
Dans les faits c'est injouable pour la France, j'ai essayé de jouer avec et c'est clairement infaisable sans marcher sur des œufs. Les états pontificaux rejoignent toujours par eux même le saint empire 10 ans après le début de la partie, le royaume fantôme ne sert à rien puisque toutes les nations rerejoignent le saint empire 5 ans après, la Bourgogne attaque frénétiquement liège et donc se fait défoncer et donc perd tout son territoire, l'évent de la succession ne s'est même pas déclenché lors de ma dernière partie, lors de ma première il s'est déclenché et la Bourgogne a choisi de tout donner aux Habsburgs. Et je parle pas de la Provence qui se plaît à rejoindre l'Empire.
In fact it's unplayable for France, I tried to play with and it's clarly not possible without paying a huge attention. Papals States always join the HRE by themselves 10 years after the start of the game, the shadow kingdom is useless cause every nation rejoin the HRE 5 years then, Burgundy keeps attacking stupidly Liege so she got her ass kicked off so she loose all her territory, the event of the succession haven't even happen in my last game and in my first game Burgundy chose to give everything to the Habsburgs. And I don't speak about Provence who like to join the Empire.

@@gullyvers in my france game i inherited the whole of burgundy and her vassals! (Maybe cause we weren't rivals at the start and RM was possible). First thing is to reconquest england off the continent and strike provence she is excommunicated (gd chance to occur because papal states is usually their rival) and this is before she has a trigger to enter HRE
Yeah, the only way i got a good burgundy as France was by them not rivalling me at the start.
I had kinda the same, me as france vs the Milanese Succesion, while I was at war with all of Austria and his 12 buddys the Burgundian Event happen, making me peace out Milan and AustrIa because it was too much.

I think that they nerfed a bit the HRE because in my recent playthrough as Austria nations won't enter as easily in the HRE, especially Provence and the papal states.

Two easy ways to fix is have the imperial authority gain per Nation be tied to it's dev. Big nation's are totally worth 10, but little opms could be like two or three.
Next is make the shadow kingdom leavers unable to willingly rejoin.

1 dev = 0.1 ia is what i think would work.
I kind of disagree on this point (IA based on dev) because the point of this mechanic is to encourage the emperor of having the maximum nation within the HRE and not 2/3 big nations. Otherwise there is no point in forcing to apply the illegitimate province system and preventing wars in the HRE.
I think the solution to this problem is just to change the formula that determine the amount of IA gained because of the number of princes. Or a thresholds of number of princes under which the IA gain is caped to a certain amount. Or something like this.
@@hutmatyre4781 Imperial authority increase is alread tied to the current quantity of princes. and likewise there is a minimum amount of princes required to maintain authority. What they are proposing is that WHEN THE STATES JOIN THE EMPIRE the amount of authority be based on development. but even in that case, it would be worth more authority to split france into a bunch of states that each give three IA than to keep it a solid block. i really like this proposal.

I running an Austria game, and playng slow. Already have Hungary and Bohemia as PUs and Milan on the way.
Now i'm waging war against Venice, and is only 1465.
Austria is fucking Op in this patch.
I have to try this if i can get my hands on EU4. might use this guide to kickstart my adventures into EU4 and swarm any who oppose the will of the Chin Dynasty like a nest of wasps.

Yeeaah this is a little too overpowered right now. I loved playing Austria in the past because they had a good balance of power, interesting things to do, and challenge. Revoking the Privelegia in the 1530s was doable but also difficult enough to be fun. But I might want to wait for patches before I try out Austria again in post 1.30.
On the one hand, the 1464 time wasn't beaten. On the other hand, like all your other guides, this was a fantastic video! Keep it up!
Edit: loosely following your guide, I revoked by 1473. Pretty slow, bit I'm happy with it. In my game, it is now 1550. The entirety of Europe (minus GB) has been vassalized, or is being eaten away at. I'm focusing on the middle east and Africa now.
OK, I get it now. After doing a little more research, I was able to revoke in 1505. Could've done better, but it is so satisfying to be able to turn that 380k swarm against France with one imperious wave.
Paradox nerfed this so hard its almost impossible to get anyone to join now, including vassels

Every time I try this, Bohemia ends up allying really strong people and just massacaring me each time with their troops, none of my allies will join the war either.
As soon as I DOW on Bohemia all of Europe started a punitive war on me and Bohemia+Brandenburg crushed me by themselves. I don't see how people are making this work.
ajre82 you can’t ally Bohemia so you don’t have to truce break and get insane ae, and you basically can’t attack anyone else before the war. You shouldn’t get a coalition if the only thing you take is a pu in the opening stages of the game
Allies in the early game wont join wars because you (probably) don't have 10 favors with them (you get 1 favor per year if i'm not mistaken), however, IF these allies have rivalled Bohemia and border them, they are likely to accept call to arms if you promise to give them land in the peace deal.
Pay attetion to which neighbours have rivalled Bohemia, ally them and promise them land when calling to war.

Yeah you have to restart for people to rival Bohemia or else you are pretty much stonewalled. In most games I try this out all the electors love Bohemia and then..well..

The latest version 1.30.2 has already fixed this strategy. You will only gain 5 IA per country joining and the probability for countries to join has been greatly reduced. Think I've read somewhere, that it's again related to the total development of a country - the higher, the lower the probability. Either way, relations won't have any influence any longer, afaik.
So I am pretty weak at EU4(600h), I haven’t finished any of my campaigns (mainly I stopped somewhere in 1650). I don’t play at Ironman cause i like to load save sometimes, but this is a time for my HRE formation campaign. Wish me luck, I will keep updating you in progres

Sooo, things got a little bit out of hand. PU over Bohemia, PU over Hungary, Poland attacked Hungary, I took 2 provinces from Poland, and by this time i had one reform behin me and like a 100 reform points. So I basiclly lost 1 reform. What turned out, that nations which entered HRE during war didn’t add their capital to HRE resulting in me loosing a lot of points per month. At this point Ottomans have to many alliance to win vs them. Reset and hope that I will have more luck next time. Good news is that I learnt a lot during this run

Yeah, takes a few times. I did it on my fifth run. But I usually just restarted early on if I saw that I didnt get extremely good openings against Boh and Hun.
Also, ally 🇵🇱 for the first half of the run. They will be really useful. If they call you into a stupid war just ditch out.

I decided to play Austria for the first time (in fact this is the first time I've played anyone outside of Ireland) and it's nearly 1500 and I have a pu over bohemia but not Hungary and only like 3 reforms. Granted I got a pu on Hungary in a trial run to see how the hre worked without putting in much effort and thought that's how it would go in the real run.

It's also worth noting that with the HRE tag's ideas, doing a World Conquest is also very viable if you unite early as their idea set is catered towards it. While it is objectively more powerful to keep the vassal swarm in the early to mid game, I wouldn't consider it a lost cause if you unite early if you're aiming for a WC.

It is much, much too easy. Nations brodering the HRE will join on their own simply by having good enough relations, for 10 IA each. Expect this to be severely nerfed very soon.
I'm a mediocre player & I just revoked the privilegia in 1479, no point in Diplomatic ideas because I hadn't unlocked the first idea yet.

how much does the opinion of other nations have to be to automatically join hre? I'm at +150 for provence and they're +102 for me and they still won't join.

The higher a nation's development is, higher the relations they need with the emperor.

When I improved relations with countries they joined the HRE, but I didn’t get the points... but sometimes I did? When east frisia joined, I got 10, but when the pope and Bosnia joined, I got nothing...
Before even watching this, I just want to warn everyone that currently the HRE mechanics are all buggy as hell. Countries add provinces but not their capitals. Some of your vassals and PUs will add themselves to the empire while others won't and the new CB doesn't work as intended right now, you will only receive Imperial Authority but not gain a new HRE member. Nevertheless Austria is overpowered as all hell right now. I managed to revoke a 101 member HRE by the late 1480s! 99 of which chose to stay in the empire (another current bug, you cannot see who votes for revoking the priviligia, so I just allied everyone, a lot of work....). In 1518 I own all European provinces apart from Britain and Iberia either directly or through PUs and vassals, roundabout a million units, which makes wars against the Mamluks or Timurids rather one-sided affairs. If you are looking to get the one faith achievement I would recommend getting it while Austria is this overpowered. Otherwise I'd recommend avoiding the HRR until bugfixes and nerfs have happened.
1.30 without the Emperor DLC doesn't give me authority for adding province or nations to the HRE. I ended up with half 3 reforms before the league war. Sounds pretty balanced to me if I didnt miss something. I got no peace of westphalia and had to convert to Protestant and needed to be elected emperor again. After that I needed to get rid of all heretic princes which took about 100 years... Revoke privilegia at 1705 which is still enough for anything.
@@LiquidIEx with the DLC I was in Beijing, Cairo and Delhi by 1566.... with Norway, Britanny, Leon and The Isles already colonizing the New World for me. At the time I 'only' made about 500 ducats a month and was really annoyed that they made it so that trade power that is diverted from vassals doesn't count towards getting a merchant in trade company regions. If it did I could have had about 20 merchants.

Yes, I revoke privelegia at 1510's without dlc. And I lose half of vassals... And get it back to 20 years. Honestly, It's my second austrian ironman and I learned mechanics directly in game. So... I think my game is not so bad:)
Was fixed quickly .... Now surrounding states are not joining or it does not give IA

@@naoisewheeler9249 You can actually see their willingness to join using "mapmode aihre" in the console.
You don't have a notice that they joined, and you only get 5 IA
Also, they need to be threatened by a nation other than you, above a certain number, and be below a certain strength ratio that's based on half of your current stockpiled IA. The strength is based on your dev
In other words, when you pass a reform, you can't get anyone to join for a while.
Vassals AND Pus won't join unless you free them. So forming the HRE has become a mammoth task

There's also a weird bug with Milan PU. If you RM them at the start, next month you will get "Restore PU" CB on them. Happened to me 6 times out of 6 atm.

I am a bit confused about the Venice part, you make us fab a claim but in the video you use the Imperial ban CB
I’m playing my first emperor game as the Papal States trying to form the kingdom of god... but after I win one war with any Italian nation they join the HRE and super Austria is willing to defend them (they inherited Hungary in 1540. The easiest way for me to expand is into the ottoman and Spain and the mameluks.

Yes the 1480 revoke is fixed but the opening strategy for Bohemia + Hungary + Milan PU still works and the basic strategies also still work, with the exception that nations do not join as easily for IA and you can no longer exploit the Shadow Kingdom event

For some reason I will get OPM nations like Aquileia to +200 opinion and they will not join even though they are on my border. Does anyone know a fix?

Im pretty new to the game and I cant get this to work for me. I cant get the mission before 1446-1447 and bohemia has a decent ally every time so out of my 5 tries i could never win the war. What can i do?
I seem to have encountered a bug almost immediately upon trying to replicate this guide’s steps. I’ve gotten five electors to support me and each are at 100 relations, but that first mission won’t fire because it says I only have the support of 4/5 electors I need.
so the peace is to vassalize them and then they automatically join HRE after the truce ends? There isn't a specific peace option?

Yeah this "opener" only works if Bohemias rivals are your allies. Then you can't ally the electors though, which means you will be behind schedule anyway. So take these kind of videos with a huge grain of salt.
With the new update not even Hungary joins the HRE, I spent 11/6 of my relations boosting relations with every neighboring country and they just won't join, the only one that joined after Shadow Kingdom was Ferrara. So my run was PU Bohemia, PU Hungary which was at war with Poland so I canceled Poland, PU Milan, declared on Venice, returned cores to Milan, released Friuli and took rest of Croatia for Hungary, then I just made sure I have as many princes as possible and no outside country owns HRE territory so I declared on Denmark and released Holstein, Declared on Burgundy and released Luxembourg, Hainahut and Holland, then I declared on Provence, released Bar and Loraine (canceled France and Portugal too, his allies), the year was 1477 and I was making 0.3 IA per month so I just kept improving relations hoping some other nations will join HRE. :)
Feel you, I basically had every single nation at arguably perfect relation (even tried to release Hungary in one run lmao) and still no one (who doesnt join anyways) wants to be part of my HRE party )-:
If am mot mistaken no one will join the empire if a player is the emperor.
The emperor must be ai.
The conquer/release cycle works well. However I have yet to get a nation ask to join even with relations at 200. Maybe I’m doing something wrong?
