'Top of the morning to ya' is apparently an ancient gaelic phrase which translates as 'For the love of god, please punch me'. The fact it's intelligible in english, although with a completely different meaning, is one of those weird coincidences. So if any non irish person reading this has ever thought about sauntering up to an irish person and saying 'top of the morning to ya' please do not blame that irish person for your subsequent concussion. As you can see, you were literally asking for it.

Ally England right at the start date and consolidate most of Ireland without fear, then use England to win against Scotland and Ulster and take a lot of land. Force England to break alliance with you and then ally France. That’s exactly what I did. England got some Irish provinces but eventually you’ll be strong enough for one on one to get them, or just use France.
I've attempted to create Ireland several times quite some time ago; it's definitely one of the harder, if not one of the hardest starts. England is out for blood, and they always control parts of Ireland before I can unite it all. And then they come for me. They are unstoppable, and nobody else is ever willing to help, either.
I might try it again today, haven't played the game fora while, to see if it's any different now.

@@simzee see if Tyrone allied other opm. If they do, you can declare on that opm and annex Tyrone without fighting england.
THIS! About 20 to 30 times. I hate the RNG aspects of this game so much - it fucks you up always but then when you try to start in Ireland, everything falls in place for England and against you 95% of the time. Finally did it when RNGesus blessed me and England offered ME the alliance they shoved in Tyrone's face usually. It was a struggle and I cried a little.

That is true I am from Ireland many people actually think its a good think but it is actually sarcasm for our bad lucl.

Patience and reloading, he probably gets crushed too that’s how you become a good player overtime. I still get swatted sometimes but once you have the foot in the door I can snowball any country so it’s a lot of rng tbh

Yeah. I try to do this too and bam. Tyrone allied with england. Others with burgundy, scotland. xD. Just like all my other attempts. At least they do stay at low troop amounts.

According to the EU4 wiki, you CAN get the Spanish fly achievement if you form Ireland. It says it in the achievement description as well, you only need to START as Offaly, not stay as it

11:50 Wait if you win the war you become emperor? Is that a new thing with this dlc/update or has it always been like that?
My last game before the update was as Brandenburg into Prussia, I led the protestant league and won. But Bohemia got the emperor... He converted after I separate placed him 1month before i won the war... He was on the losing side and got emperor....
Also how do you become the leader of the protestant league as a country outside of the HRE? The wiki says that the first hereditary elector automatically assumes the position.
@@myghtibeanz I'm not sure if it is possible... I did it as Bradenburg which is inside of the HRE.

This video made me want to try and form Ireland. 1482, have all except 3 provinces but I did win the Burgundian lottery and now have them as a PU... minus the lowlands Austria wanted

One important note though; forming Ireland does *not* prevent you from getting achievement, only thing is that achievement won't appear on achievement tab of the game, but it'll appear on Steam. So, yeah, you can get Spanish Fly with Offaly; at least that's what I did in my last run.

I'm not even Scottish, and I winced at that pronunciation of Irn-Bru.
The wiki notes this about the Spanish Fly achievement:
Forming Ireland or another country will not prevent the achievement but instead only hiding its conditions.
I don't know if that's true but I was looking for some new achieves to do so I might as well start this one now and figure it out since I can't resist clicking a tag switch button the moment it's available.
I can confirm that this is true because I just completed this achievement as Ireland. The game does indeed award you the achievement if you start your game as Offaly and later fulfill the criteria as the formed nation of Ireland.
@AlzaboHD If you want to update the video at 09:57, you can add a note that it's still possible after forming Ireland.
@@knappage thanks for confirming I forgot to follow up on this but I managed to coalition all of Europe and died and never attempted it again.
This might not be a good idea, but a guide to the Verona nation (releasable at the start of the game as Venice) or Bologna as they both have great national ideas, or so I have been led to believe

I haven’t tested this but according to the wiki forming ireland doesn’t actually prevent you from getting the spanish fly achievement, it just hides the conditions

Whenever I try to take on England as a Scottish or Irish nation: England with 50k troops by 1450 and not sending a single tropp to fight against the French
I have tried for this achievement SO many times for so many patches. It seems the real solution was just I was never fast enough to consolidate, scared of AE - especially since you're so hard up for diplomats early until your intial claims down.
Or.... you know, England decides to crush the war of the roses complete and the 100 year war doesn't happen. Honestly I feel like that part of the run is more down to luck that the events fire and England is stupid enough to leave his army in France than it is down to good play. But at least the luck part of the run is relatively early!
And for those wondering, Scotland is the same thing but inverse. Unlike Ireland though, Scotland's fort in the march is on defensive terrain and if used properly can be used to defeat the English in a straight up fight.

The way I did Spanish fly was by no cb'ing Granada, vassalized them, force religion, place dynasty on throne, then broke vassalige, rm'd them, truce broke and claimed their throne, then Pu'd them.

TreMor we actually were on both sides in nearly every war against the English. In the end, the O’Neills became Irish lords for the British, and the ones who did not were dispossessed of their land and most went to Canada or the United States. Many O’Neills also became Protestant whether we stayed in Northern Ireland or came to North America. Having a flag which is related to my family history, the history of Ireland, and the history of England as my profile picture does not make me a traitor. It is also hard to be a traitor to Ireland when you are from the United States. But really, why was this necessary? I made a funny comment and you acted as if was the end of the world. Enjoy the video, put politics aside for once.

Why a guide for that? It's still a peace of cake to form italy with Milan, Genoa, Florence, Papal States or Napoli.

- ormond allied to Also only England
-Offaly goes in a trade league

You can still get Spanish Fly after forming Ireland, even if it isn't shown in the in-game achievement list.

Offaly is really good for trophy hunters.
While this guide is very well done and relevant, I seem to never have any luck because of how well England's doing. Moreover, continental allies just don't seem to know how to use transports properly. So I have an adjustment to the strategy for those like me.
Basically, Ireland, save for Pale, has 12 provinces. This can support 6 provinces for you and 6 vassals. With Strong Duchies, making sure to have very long truces when vassalizing by force, and always staying at force limit it's not particularly hard to keep their liberty desire below 50%, providing you with around 36k troops after 10 to 15 years of gameplay.
If you release nations, keeping liberty desire low is actually trivial, but the vassals won't keep their 6 or so ships that might come in handy.
So what's the plan afterwards? It's simple, we kill Scotland and England. Best of luck :P
Extra tips: 1) annex Munster at all costs, he can't afford any troops with that Fort and becomes dead weight 2) there's a case to be made that doing Humiliate Rival wars to farm Show Strength monarch points is a valid strategy for at least the first three wars but England has a tendency to vassalize Irish OPMs diplomatically so you're on a timer, just build to force limit and war non-stop until you have all of Ireland 3) you could no-cb east Frisia to try and join the HRE for that extra +1 dip.rep, English channel trading port and Austrian protection - in fact, if you have the provinces that Leinster or Desmond start in, you can annex it and not just vassalize them. I did that and it worked out well but it requires a specific setup, might be just unneeded hassle.
I tried to do this and Scotland took Ulster right in the beginning. Then I got wrecked by 2 people at once. Took forever for me to take Tyrone, I think it was much longer than you took even though I had 7000 troops. I'm just going to start over. I assume I'll be taking quite a few loans out in the beginning.
Not necessarily. The estates are a very powerful tool, and especially a little later in the game they can effectively give you four loans worth of gold in one action. On top of this, if you conquer a certain amount of the isles, you should be able to afford 7K with no issues.

Had a irish campaign but it was with ET and started in 1204
Basically i took over the isles as Tyrone and formed Ireland then i procedeed to expand
I conquered by 1800:
-Almost all of italy (up to the po)
-The Iberian Peninsula
-Croatia,Serbia,Bosnia,Albania and parts of Greece
-North Africa
-I formed Jerusalem as a puppet in the holy land
-Vassalized Syria
-Parts of Denmark and north Germany.
-Indochina
-Large parts of Indonezia
I also colonized:
-All of North America
-Most of South America
-South and East Africa
This is not all,if i remember correctly i expanded more but the files are pre emperor so the campaign is over.
I was 1# Great Power and would still be even if i had released my vassals and colonies.
France was 2#
3# was Dehli
Why did you release Northumberland and Wales? just to not have to spend insane adm on coring? or this way you won't have war exhaustion when England attacks? or both?
Can some please explain the reasoning behind releasing the vassals in England and Wales? Is this something you should. be doing in all your play throughs? I understand that they will core the territory for you, but I really rarely use vassals, and if I do, they usually get too big to integrate, and I don't release them from my own territory.
The logic for my campaign was to cut down on monarch point costs - these nations have many cores to reclaim (granting an additional reconquest CB as well) and are significantly cheaper than conquering outright. Plus feeding vassals their cores draws considerably less aggressive expansion and allows them to fight in your wars before you integrate them. It's a matter of preference but I generally only release vassals that have cores to reclaim
1 - Letting vassals core the land for you saves both ADM points and massive overextension penalties.
2 - You can declare wars to reconquer your vassals' cores for only 25% aggressive expression, meaning you can take a lot more land in a single war without worrying about coalitions.
3 - Unlike allies, vassals are forced to join your wars so they're basically extra maintenance-free troops.
4 - Annexing vassals costs DIP points, but you get automatic cores in the land do don't have to spend ADM points to do it. ADM points are needed for more things in the game, so saving ADM is more important than saving DIP.
Forming Ireland or another country will not prevent the achievement but instead only hiding its conditions. Take a single Spanish province with a core of another tag and release that tag as a vassal. Place dynasty member on throne Common Sense.png and annex the vassal. Return their core via the province screen to release them as an independent nation with your dynasty ruling. Claim their throne, immediately declare with restoration of union CB and enforce union for the achievement.
