I just conducted an experiment that would have helped you in this playthrough. If Provence is a subject when the Claims of King Rene mission is completed, they automatically get cores on all of Naples, regardless of whether or not Naples is a subject or independent. I figured this out by accident during an Austria playthrough where I vassalized them in an excommunication war. I recreated this just now using console commands. It's Real, and it potentially makes Provence one of the most valuable subjects in the game in terms of available cores. In the Austria game, I snapped up the entirety of Naples in two quick wars for 15 aggressive expansion total.
From everything I've seen of the new patch I am in LOVE! The way the new French vassals work is particularly interesting, bc it forces the player to choose between either centralizing quickly and getting little to no of the powerful bonuses estates provide or getting these bonuses but having to keep these vassals for much longer. The reworked ideas and the new mission tree are also fantastic! Watching Alzabo dominate as France makes me so hyped to play France myself when the expansion releases! :D
super video frerot . je vais jouer lalgerie On a more serious note, superb work as always, glad to see you thrive in the latest vids. I'll make just to preorder the DLC from your link tomorrow once I'm back from my parents'. PS : Très sympa la partie en français pour présenter la chaîne de Ssouda, on entend ton accent mais il est plutôt agréable !
That Provence mission is a tiny bit absurd if there is no cutoff point where Provence has too much development to ever agree. Especially on very hard difficulty where the AI gets very little aggressive expansion you can feed Provence the entirety of Italy within a few decades and then just savescum until you inherit. And with a bit of time and creativity you could for sure do even more absurd things.
Akhtchually you can feed your vassal some Catalonian lands through the favour interaction. Don't know if that works since Castille does not directly control the land but worth a try.
Don’t Know the odds but I just leave Burgundy aside and finishing other quests first. I was quite annoyed when Austria succeeded whole Burgundy, but when the succession event occurred it was worth it, an easy campaign won me all the Burgundian lands and some provinces from Provence.
Hmm yeah I’m playing a MP game with friends when the expansion drops and I’ll play as France. Don’t think I’m going to feed province with only 10% of a PU.
I'd like to see your take on a Savoy to France playthrough. I'm currently attempting one and I'm in the endgame, starting to annex them, and I hope to be able to get at least half a century to actually play as France. That said I'm terrible at EU4 by power player standards and would like to see how quickly a competent player can restore France as Savoy.
I was playing france before the big update and restarted on the new checksum now almost finished with the campaign. Almost done forming roman empire and have all the colonies due to the Spain PU and subsequent annexing.
I didn't know I could get excited to play France again...but you did it. I can't wait! Question for thr channel, is it bad to take a personal day to play EU4? Lol
The only question remains: how quickly can France conquer the world? This is the most OP nation yet - after all, there's no "janissary decadence" mid-late game or anything like that. Just ever-increasing and frightening strength. The NI changes for 1.35 point more toward conquering than the current ones. All that additional military stuff, + CCR. France is now the ultimate Game Boss, the GigaChad, the King of the Hill. Only element I don't like is the 10% chance for Provence. (Hell-oooo, save-scumming.) They should maybe dump that. Anyway, great video, sir.
There is a way to be an even stronger version of france, but for that you must give up most achievements. But in this way you can have a 200 ducat income by 1490 or earlier, armies greater than prussia's and less aggresive expansion and this is without the bogus new mission tree which you would also have when the patch drops. All u need to do is make a custom nation that annexes all of the country of france and their vassals and in the current pactch its probably best to annex avignon and provence too, but with 1.35 u can skip on it, then use the rest of the points on 6-6-6 leader and OP ideas (for 200 ducat economy go for goods produced +0.5-2.0, 200 ducat run was with +1.5 ), then once u load in and have annexed all of france u should be able to instantly form france and with that u also get their cores on nomrandy and gascony and their mission tree and french strong duchies avaliable but u keep ur OP ideas, bonus point if u set ur national adjective to french soo the game will display ur custom nation ideas as French Ideas. This is ironman compatible since very easy for custom nation point cap is allowed for ironman, just that being a custom nation kinda disallows most achievements. U can do the same thing with every country formable at game start for example austria or rum.
It's better to take the mission "retake the Gascony" after the peace deal for better effects(-10 devastation and also +10% manpower recovery speed for 15 years)
Well, my Burgundy had a state marriage with Holland and got the throne before I could attack them.😂 So history does not repeat itself. But tried your way and I think, just trying out things in EU IV is the best way of having fun. Nevertheless, I nice video and what a voice!❤
Do I have to pre-order to get the new songs? I am really into the songs so I need to know. Edit: Also maps, the terra incognita territory looks good now. Furthermore, those graphics are beautiful.
uh... do you have to replace your savegame to do the provence thing? like there's a lot skipped over I guess but that seems like a really huge integral part of the strategy we just spent less than a second on
Declaring war on england is an inexcusably egregious misplay. Your first declared war should be against savoy once they get excommunicated since that's the first part of italy you need and you'll be able to vassalize them in that war without serious AE. Surrender of maine will fire at some point giving you a defensive war against england bringing in castille for you instead of portugal for england, so if you start building heavy ships on day 1 you can take London in the first war. Keep your guarantee of scotland until then so they don't declare war and therefore actually surrender maine.
weird ur doing a france video cos im playing as france now.. but i sarted as provence... did the whole provence mission tree. got aragon, milan, france & hungary as pu's.. then various vassals like byzantium, teutonics which later changed to prussia... novgorod.. etc etc.. then integrated france, changed to france to get whole new mission tree.. got a pu over castile... took out most of england & portugal, accidentally became emperor of the hre.. am working my way thru the hre reforms now.. am debating whether to go roman empire or holy roman empire? nearly done all the france mission tree.. apart from i didnt get poland as a vassal cos i had fed most of it to prussia.. so dunno if its even worth it or can i complete that mission by just taking the land myself? i also took out most of muscovy so that last mission is nearly done too.. started heavily going into africa & india now..once i fully integrate the hre i will pretty much have most of europe.. i think although starting as provence is extremely difficult its far more op than starting as france

@@MrThefoxyone Fair enough. For me it was a revelation. I always assumed Provence needed to be independent to do that particular mission.
