I'm a year into my recovery from the same thing and I just wanted to tell you it gets better. Last week I discovered that I can somewhat do parkour again and it is the best feeling. Best of luck on your recovery!
nature, when you strip away society, technology, and everything that makes us comfortable in our homes, really makes you value what you have. at home, we’re most likely thinking: “omgoodness, there are so many things I want to impulse buy.” but, when on a trail, we’re put into survivalist mode of “damn, I should’ve packed more water, food, wet wipes… :/” thank you, simon, for making this video and feeding us beautiful sunrises and sunsets. 😌
Hey man, just wanted to thank you, you inspire me and because of you I look at my life in a different way, I get so inspired and motivated to do things as you do, to explore, enjoy and live. Thanks and never stop inspiring
This has gotta be the funniest and most real video in the world. I think having those moments where you talked about missing that vanilla latte really made it more relatable. Your other videos are masterpieces and always motivate me, but to see that even you crave sugar and sweets while being in those beautiful areas, it makes your life seem less like a dream and more like a person trying to live life in the moment. Your channel is always a great reminder that there is so much more than school and becoming a doctor, lawyer, or business woman. That to live is to love and to love is to keep on moving no matter the bumps in the road. Keep doing what you love Simon; you're making a difference in the world whether it feels like it or not.
almost midnight Sat eve & i just watched full vlog cos i worked all day. Saw you posted before i went to work so was psyched to watch after work. I'm in South FL & prefer to be outdoors rather than stuck inside. I live on a 20 acre lake that is the centerpiece of the community i live in and have awesome views year round. Needless to say i really do spend more time outside than in. Thanks for another awesome vlog. I still watch your Project West vlog atleast once a month....my favorite. Happy 2024
I have always craved for a solo trip and went on a tiny little one a few months back. Post breakup, things are kind of messed up especially my routine and mental health. You've inspired and reminded me where I belong - solo tripping among the nature. Thank you Simon. Hugs. 😊
hear me out - I feel like a lot people who post videos like this that are over 30 mins are kinda - idk, all over the place? but this just felt consistent and coherent - your story telling is fantastic -
Worst case, you can be a highly compensated video editor and/or a filmmaker. Your films are engaging and have a feel-good vibe. You will thrive - best or worst case
Compilation of Simon walking away from his camera in the woods 😂 No but fr, this was great. The monologue at the 14:00 mark was really mature and cool to see. Keep it up dawg
Thank you for this video bro! You’re showing people how easy life can be when take a step back and just enjoy the moments. Like you said “it’s not that deep.” We don’t always have to contemplate and overthink everything. Just go outside and breathe!!!!!
It's so cool to see you experience the magic and joy of backpacking!!! Looked like an epic hike! Can't watit to bring Sunnyday on my next backpacking trip!!
25:19 Indeed a great message Simon, and an ever better job on the video, Not too easy to live by in this ever-consuming world, but you and this video especially bring a sense of child-like innocence that is so often overlooked. Look for the bare necessities, the simple bare necessities Forget about your worries and your strife I mean the bare necessities, old mother nature's recipes That bring the bare necessities of life Wherever I wander, wherever I roam I couldn't be fonder of my big home The bees are buzzin' in the tree To make some honey just for me When you look under the rocks and plants And take a glance at the fancy ants, then maybe try a few The bare necessities of life will come to you They'll come to you! Look for the bare necessities, the simple bare necessities Forget about your worries and your strife I mean the bare necessities That's why a bear can rest at ease With just the bare necessities of life Now when you pick a paw-paw or a prickly pear And you prick a raw paw, well, next time beware Don't pick the prickly pear by the paw When you pick a pear try to use the claw But you don't need to use the claw When you pick a pear of the big paw-paw Have I given you a clue? The bare necessities of life will come to you They'll come to you! Oh man, that's really livin' So just try and relax, yeah, cool it Fall apart in my backyard 'Cause let me tell you something little britches If you act like that bee acts, uh uh You're working too hard And don't spend your time lookin' around For something you want that can't be found When you find out you can live without it And go along not thinkin' about it I'll tell you something true The bare necessities of life will come to you Look for the bare necessities, the simple bare necessities Forget about your worries and your strife I mean the bare necessities That's why a bear can rest at ease With just the bare necessities of life Yeah, with just the bare necessities of life!
Hi Simon, I think the shift of the channel will have a very good outcome. Because you have to create what you are feeling at that moment. Pushing and persisting on a type of content that you are not enjoying anymore is always a bad idea:))
yoooo simon, how's that 2021 friend group going? I'm pretty sure you guys went sperate ways, but rewatching that video really made me think that something between you and that friend group was special. Hope I get to see that friend group again!
I love the vibe, please take us with you again on your next trip Simon! I went on my first solo trip to San Francisco last year and it was a lot of fun. But you inspired me to try a solo hiking trip one day
I'm always hesitating on clicking on these types of videos maybe because this make me so vulnerable. For this one it took me 2 weeks and a big anxiety attack to click on it, but i'm glad cause your videos always seem to find me when i need it the most. Life is so uncertain for me at this point, and i deal with anxiety so badly, nothing seems to work, except your video, which brings me peace and comfort like i needed. I have to get back to the real world now, but thank you for this moment that make my day better, even for an instant.
Simon, i am going to get off social media for the next 6 months, this is the last video i am watching before that. So very thankful of you and your channel. I appreciate all you say and do. thank you for being a solace to me.
I checked the website out, well done Simon! I loved the little montage on the home page. I'm not much of a coffee or matcha person but I would for sure buy the apparel.
You do inspire me to get outside more. I love your content and your authenticity inspires my own in my videos. I'm looking forward for what's to come :)
Hey Simon I really wanted to say that your videos make me feel so inspired and bc of you ive had the knack in the last week to travel and explore more. I really wanna buy a camera but ppl are saying that they think me taking photos and recording is a phase and wont last. I feel really confident in this and even though I would be using all my money. Ive started a Instagram account and Ive already gained 30 followers which makes me feel really proud. Theres something about reading a physical book versus a digital book ifykyk.
The monologue in the middle is exactly why i love to watch you Simon! Keep up the wonderful work and looking forward to all the nature content moving forward
Mandelbro and the youtube new wave are one of the best combos to date, hahah. Stunning national park as well! Wish I can experience any of the of the many american national parks some day.
The highest peak in Texas is Guadalupe Peak, in its own national park north of Big Bend, up on the New Mexico border. Emory Peak is the highest peak in Big Bend NP. Do yourself a favor and climb them both! Very worth it. Spend a sunset and sunrise on the South Rim, too. And that plant? It's a sotol. On the other side of the river they make some potent moonshine with the sotol roots. It was fun seeing some old favorite stomping grounds. Anxiety... being outdoors is my best medicine for it, always has been.
Thanks for sharing Simon! I so loved the part where you talked about how your focus on the channel re-routed from mental health and realizing how big of a topic this is. This helped me clarify one thing about myself and what I would like to share in my channel. For a 17-year old you have so much wisdom. Keep it up!
i really loves ur videos my sweet brother ! can u do an other soon about facing criticism, feeling of guilty, shame, judgements...really need to hear about that
Simon, you keep gettin better my dude. You're videos look amazing now adays. Keep it up! Your movement and everything you guys are doin is truly sum special.
As someone who completed the west coast trail (look it up, it's tough), this video is incredible, and im going to do some backpacking myself soon! Amazing content!
I can’t express how much you’ve helped me, I found your channel not too long ago (about a year) and it put me into a different perspective and helped me realize how to deal with everything and help others, you’ve helped me save others lives as well as my own. Thank you
Wsp bro! I have been doing amazing. I've learned to play more music on my guitar, I've been drawing very well. I'm learning to live alone with my friends now. Thanks to you I can finally feel as if I'm meaningful to myself and I think I'm gonna go long and far into life. Thank you so much man.🫶🎸

Reminded me of the backpacking trip I got to do in Big Bend with my Dad and best friend last year. Super special to think about that again and watch you think some of the same thoughts we did lol. Will check out the website, I’m sure it looks incredible! Also, you should check out John Mark Comer if you’re interested in solitude and silence. He’s a real encouragement to me and I think would put a lot of words to realizations you had on this trip. Much love!

Starting a new series of hikes/adventures this upcoming year so hmu if you're thinking of something or have any good recs!
Funny to think that each cut scene of him walking away from the camera, he had to walk right back. Lot of work!
I was thinking that same thing - like, "is he climbing back down with that pack?" 😂
Not really. he actually have multiple cameras so he keep all the cameras on on the way, and he take it back on the way back.

Thinking about the worst-case scenario isn't that bad sounds fitting to me. I could always go back to live with my parents and do freelancing again.

Indeed a great message Simon, and an ever better job on the video,
Not too easy to live by in this ever-consuming world, but you and this video especially bring a sense of child-like innocence that is so often overlooked.
Look for the bare necessities, the simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities, old mother nature's recipes
That bring the bare necessities of life
Wherever I wander, wherever I roam
I couldn't be fonder of my big home
The bees are buzzin' in the tree
To make some honey just for me
When you look under the rocks and plants
And take a glance at the fancy ants, then maybe try a few
The bare necessities of life will come to you
They'll come to you!
Look for the bare necessities, the simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
That's why a bear can rest at ease
With just the bare necessities of life
Now when you pick a paw-paw or a prickly pear
And you prick a raw paw, well, next time beware
Don't pick the prickly pear by the paw
When you pick a pear try to use the claw
But you don't need to use the claw
When you pick a pear of the big paw-paw
Have I given you a clue?
The bare necessities of life will come to you
They'll come to you!
Oh man, that's really livin'
So just try and relax, yeah, cool it
Fall apart in my backyard
'Cause let me tell you something little britches
If you act like that bee acts, uh uh
You're working too hard
And don't spend your time lookin' around
For something you want that can't be found
When you find out you can live without it
And go along not thinkin' about it
I'll tell you something true
The bare necessities of life will come to you
Look for the bare necessities, the simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
That's why a bear can rest at ease
With just the bare necessities of life
Yeah, with just the bare necessities of life!
can see you doing a short thru hike with some friends or people in creator camp. lot of planning & preparation but it would do really well
