Two things: First, welcome editor Dan to the channel! I've mentioned getting a second editor so I can maintain daily uploads with my recently increased standard of quality. I'm looking forward to see what heights we can reach with both Dan and Ben working full time. However, hiring a second editor isn't cheap, so expect me to do some fundraising soon. Second, I will be livestreaming tomorrow afternoon at www.twitch.tv/aliensrock (about 15 or 16 hours after this video goes live)! I will be doing a follow-up stream to the Variety Mega Shitshow, finishing VVVVVV then playing more of this game afterward. I'll make a community post when the stream goes live too. See you there!
Hello Dan! Hope this takes the breakneck pace off of Ben. Good luck with your fundraising Tyler. Sadly, I cannot make the stream, as my potato laptop cannot run Twitch for more than 30 seconds before lagging the fuck out
Its nice to see that Dan has a sense of humor with his editing, but overall felt really authentic, I didn’t even notice it was a different person until after I read the comments! Hope that this two editor thing goes well for all of you!
Itms funny you said that because I literally paused 14 seconds into the video and checked the description because I could immediately tell with how often the video was jumping/zooming in to different places
I like that ADOFAI is easier to break down "mathematically" compared to other rhythm games, at least in my opinion. I've never picked up an instrument in my life, so that aspect of the game made it easier for me to get into it, as I could never really feel the songs in the same way when trying to do Guitar Hero or OSU.
Yeah. Agreed. With other rhythm games, I basically memorize how long does it take to drop down. Which means I can play with music off and still do fine. With ADOFAI I had to come up with my own notation basically. And music helps in making it. For example 1 1-2-3 . 1 1 . 1 1-2-3 . 1 1 . 1 1-2-3 . 1 1 (6-X Ascending pattern)
Well at least for osu!, the point of the approaching notes is not to accurately tell you when you're supposed to press them and then memorize that behavior, but to hint at a rhythm in the song, and this can also be done through visual cues like spacing and patterns in a map. The difficulty here is being able to read those cues after already getting a minimal idea of the song, following the song as you're playing and having the muscle memory to not focus on aiming at the notes consciously. Either way you shouldn't expect to be good at or enjoy a rhythm game that relies heavily on these gameplay principles if you're playing it with the sound off.
Yeah, I agree. It’s actually really interesting to see rhythms broken down into fractions like this. I really enjoyed this game when I played through it myself because of that.
I’m so happy that Tyler is playing ADOFAI, this is my favorite rhythm game just because of its deceptive simplicity. Good luck with the bonus levels XD
My favorite rhythm game too. I’ve completed all levels on mobile and am on the way to pure perfecting them. My computer is trash so I can’t do customs much but u wish
Haven't watched the video yet but I have over 200 hours in Adofai and this is NOT who I expected to be playing this amazing game! I really hope you enjoyed it edit, watched the video, can't wait to see you play the next 6 story levels, the 6 bonus levels, the 2 challenge levels, the 3 crossover levels, the 6(12 if you count hard mode) DLC levels and basically infinite high quality steam workshop levels.
Tyler probably doesn't have good enough rhythm to do the two challenge levels in a reasonable amount of time, let's be real. That, and it isn't until the 4th level of Neo Cosmos where it goes out of it's way to tell you that you're gonna need more than just the spacebar for harder charts.
I would never expect you to play adofi (But then again, the Shitshow's theme was games that Tyler wouldnt normally play). As a huge rhythm game fan, I'm glad to see you enjoy it! Also the fact that you completed the last level immediately after the hour ended was hilarious to watch.
Do have to say Tyler, your positivity even failing is really awesome. When I first saw you playing Celeste with your attitude, it really gave me a confidence boost to try to tell myself "I've got this" not just in games but real life as well. To this day I still do it. Thanks for keeping the positivity!
I suppose it’s only the natural order but when I saw the game do different time signatures I was mind blown. The 16ths was what I expected not different time signatures. I can’t believe normal people can get so far when they’re not even musically inclined.
One of my favorite rhythm games, glad to see you're having fun with it! Two things I wanted to point out: 1. You can use any key to play adofai besides escape, which is very important since Worlds 8-12 are way faster than the rest of the main game. 2. The dev team also made Rhythm Doctor, which is also a one button rhythm game you should check out. All of the songs are bangers too! p.s. World 8 is peak jazz, good luck!
@@laineyw7257 it's still recommended to use more than one key mostly because you're just putting unnecessary strain on your single finger if you keep sticking with 1 key usage

Would love to see more videos on this game! You seemed to be doing really well on the levels you got through, and theres a lot more interesting mechanics in the extra levels!
Not like Tyler will ever see this but for anything pertaining to music if you practice it for a little bit and then stop when you’re frustrated or tired then when you come back you’ll be able to do it perfectly. So if there’s a level you got stuck on you’d just be able to one shot it when you came back to it later. Did that on the piano tons of times where I will be 100% certain I didn’t learn anything at all and then sit down hours later and I’ll nail it first try. So I imagine that’s the cool thing about this game is that if you just do it a few times and then quit you’ll come back and one shot the level. Lol

Seeing someone popular play this game makes my heart happy. Also this game with checkpoints makes me upset cause I had to beat it before they added checkpoints
Also if you're looking for other rhythm games, I've heard a lot of good things about rhythm doctor, thumper, and notITG (although the latter assumes some experience with four key). If you've got VR, I'd add beat saber and pistol whip. Obviously you don't need to play any of these, but if you're really interested in some rhythm games that are fun and work well on video, I'd say check these out!
In case you didn't notice, the tempo change symbols (the hare for a speed up and tortoise for a slow down) are actually animated. The speed of their animation matches the new speed after hitting that space. If you watch them carefully enough, you'll know what the new tempo will be even on your first time through the song.
I suppose that's a downside with playing visually rather than rhythmically. If you're literally watching the next tile or two in order to time it rather than sticking with a rhythm, then you can't look ahead at the symbol to match that speed
@@hesho24 As in Camellia's Ghost? Isn't Ghost only really tied to the Beat Saber community? I really haven't seen it in any other game. Good song though.
@@Atomosphere it’s most known in the beat saber community because it was the hardest song in the official game and someone decided to make a fan version that they would update to be harder every time someone beat it until it became almost impossible (to my knowledge GA7ST has only been beaten by one person ever but that might not still be true) but it shows up in pretty much every rhythm game wether official or not and it’s always made batshit difficult. checkpoint concept: you get to respawn at a checkpoint exactly twice. every checkpoint has its own counter. when you hit a checkpoint from behind, the count resets to 2. This way you either have to improve quickly or improve consistently, and you can't just luck spam your way forward
Based adofai player Can’t wait until you beat some of the custom charts, many of them are super bananas! Also, the Neo-Cosmos DLC is really fun, I highly recommend it, assuming you haven’t already gotten it.

Have fun with world 8, 11 and 12 Also a lot of the bonus worlds will require a lot of grinding, emomomo and options especially. (Also my favourite song) Also to beat this game and it’s bonus levels without mods you will have to adjust to 3+ fingers (I’m currently using 3)
Some criticism for dan the new editor. Calm down on the zoom ins to the camera. You want to zoom in only to emphasize on unique or outstanding moments. Not every failure. Other than that its good for the other parts.
ADOFAI is awesome and deserves more move. I'm kinda trash at it and I don't need the bonus carpal tunnel but it's cool to see it getting some fresh players.

You’re so lucky to have the checkpoint in 6-X it wasn’t there when I first beat it and it took me a good 5 hours
“This is like the final boss of rhythm games”
This man has no idea what’s coming
You've heard of Freedom Dive, but what you haven't heard of is the true hardest rhythm game song, 1-X A Dance of Fire and Ice.
@@Atomosphere forget Freedom Dive, the most legendary rhythm game song of all time always has been and alway will be Ghost
Check out the osu!mania clear by lemonguy, the osu! Clear by bubbleman, and (of course the adofai clear by nephrolepis if you want to see some insane ones!
You guys clearly have never heard of the dreaded...
_Slow Ride on Easy_
Now I want Tyler playing a piano video... pls
checkpoint concept: you get to respawn at a checkpoint exactly twice. every checkpoint has its own counter. when you hit a checkpoint from behind, the count resets to 2. This way you either have to improve quickly or improve consistently, and you can't just luck spam your way forward
I always want to call this "A Dong of Fire and Ice" when I see the acronym
Tyler's most challenging game, rhythm games!
Truly a nemesis!
Based adofai player
Can’t wait until you beat some of the custom charts, many of them are super bananas!
Also, the Neo-Cosmos DLC is really fun, I highly recommend it, assuming you haven’t already gotten it.
Dan if you see this
I love your edit, I'm already looking forward to seeing your videos
Praying for Tyler to try out Rhythm Doctor if he's enjoying ADOFAI. One of my favorite rhythm games of all time
Great vid, it's nice to see you play a different kind of genre that you don't play often on the channel, can't wait for tomorrow's stream and the 1M Mega Shitshow (also just so you know, you can use any keys on the keyboard, which is helpful on really fast sections like the skewed triangles beacuse you can use both your hands👍 just a Lil tip for tomorrow if you replay adofai)
Have fun with world 8, 11 and 12
Also a lot of the bonus worlds will require a lot of grinding, emomomo and options especially. (Also my favourite song)
Also to beat this game and it’s bonus levels without mods you will have to adjust to 3+ fingers (I’m currently using 3)
Rip they we all nerfed
Some criticism for dan the new editor. Calm down on the zoom ins to the camera. You want to zoom in only to emphasize on unique or outstanding moments. Not every failure. Other than that its good for the other parts.
If I didn't already see you smash at Guitar Hero I'd be surprised but nah man you're a legend in all sorts of genres
Tyler is a natural at rythm games.
ADOFAI is awesome and deserves more move. I'm kinda trash at it and I don't need the bonus carpal tunnel but it's cool to see it getting some fresh players.
Interesting way of visualising the beats of music too.
Fun to see a rhythm game on here! Have you played Crypt of the Necrodancer? It would be awesome to see some, especially as they've recently put out a new DLC :D
Thanks for the hard work editor Dan !
I was just stunned looking at this video on the recommended page, wondering weather or not this was some other channel I was looking at lol
Oh I'm looking towards seeing you have fun with this
You know i find it crazy that this game can go from this to a like 7 key rhythm game in stupid hard custom levels
Dude this game is sick, love the soundtrack!
Love it!
A note for the editor, could they try to sync the audio and the game? It helps a lot with viewing!
When I saw this I got so excited, this game is so fun, I play a fizzd version so it's a bit different, like the windup just repeats and gets like 1.5x faster it's so hard, and there is no checkpoints
I think that's the demo (fizzd is one of the developers)
i love how adofai can visualize rhythms so even people who don't really play rhythm games can get into them!
