Sure his legs and arms are slimmer but obviously his gut holds his fat storage the most. Yes he is fat it’s just his body holds it more on one area and by a lot. It’s not shaming to say the truth, I lost 55 lbs, I’m currently at 17% body fat trying to get lower and see how shredded I can look but happy with my results and want to see how I’ll look. There’s a big difference between telling people that them being so fat it makes living hard, and telling teenagers, and young adults with maybe some body image issues, that having a bit of stomach fat, or not being stick thin, is normal. Telling them that there cellulite, stretch marks, and jiggly arms, that it’s normal. Healthy even. I wish someone told me that my nose, or body hair was natural and beautiful before other people could tell me to hide it.

He is overweight not fat or obese, not health threatening but it's always better to start losing weight before it gets harder.
However, some overweight people "like this guy" are healthier than many of those who appear slimmer.
I have a friend who is overweight, shorter than me and she is 15 kgs fatter, but she is healthier than me, she eats alot of food but her choices are healthy and she is not lazy, she wakes up early, studies in uni, studies a language, working, litterally doing everything and always busy and moving.
Me on the other hand, I'm slimmer, I don't eat alot of food, but when I eat, man, my choices aren't that healthy, and I'm a work at home, so not moving much.

I love this guy’s answer. We shouldn’t be bullying people for being fat, we should help them. Body shaming comments aren’t going to make all the fat people on the world skinnier, it’s just going to hurt their mental health. If we were all kinder and taken up a healthier lifestyle, obesity rates would go down significantly.

  • @siobhanrose1680

I think it’s fair to say fat people are accepted in society. Is life accessible to the morbidly obese? Not really no. Is that ok? Well in fairness, their limitations are self induced. Should they receive extra help in life: Yes, if you mean help losing weight, to get to a size they can easily manage life, yes, I believe they should. If they want that help, they should be able to receive it. The biggest issue in “fat acceptance” in my opinion is that we are being forced to cater to fragile mindsets, ie “yEs FaT iS hEaLtHy ToO.” It’s not, we should be pushing each other to be better, do better. Never has humanity been so overweight, and that is pretty sad, we’re not evolving, at all. I think Wall-E was far too close to hitting the nail on the head. Overweight, not moving, eating shit disguised at nutrients, distracted by our devices.

    • @gigachad3925
      @gigachad3925 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Just to add some nuance. It's important to note that everyone's body holds fat differently and reacts to hunger/stress hormones differently. The natural result is just that some people's bodies maintain equilibrium better at higher levels of adiposity, whereas some do at lower levels. For example, while the average man is said to be healthiest at 15% body fat, in the general population that healthy number can range from 9% to 22%. My point is that there are some people who would be called "fat" by ultra-shredded YT fitness standards who are actually perfectly healthy. Just to be clear, however, what I'm talking about is distinct from obesity or even just being significantly overweight.

This “so long as it isn’t hurting anyone” mindset doesn’t work because the individual and their loved ones are the ones who get hurt. Making a personal decision to hurt yourself doesn’t take away from this fact.

Here we go overweight people always trying to justify their bad behavior. Number one excuse BMI is not a good predictor. Because a weightlifter can be considered obese. Literally sorry to burst your bubble. That is not how doctors use BMI. BMI is one part of the process combined with a physical strength tests visual observation which includes body size and shape. How much fat and wear your body's carrying it plus muscle tone with decreased body fat abdominal check. They're still more to it but I you get the point. So if a patient comes in with a BMI 35% higher They show normal to low muscle tone and visual signs of body fat and deposits then the BMI is accurate conclusion would be obesity. Now if the patient showed above average muscle tone in most of all above average muscle mass and lack of visual body fat and fat deposits with a BMI 35% would not be considered obese.

Actually weight doesn’t always have to do with how much you eat it’s genetics mostly which is the same with height you might’ve been an inch taller if you’d just drank more milk but it’s mostly genetics there’s also such a thing as an Ed where someone literally can’t control how much they eat you just sound like a moron

    There's levels of everything...
    There's Average, that's common
    There's skinny, that's okay
    There's emaciated, that's unhealthy
    There's chubby, that's okay
    There's obese, that's unhealthy
There's athletic, beefy, chonky, and tanky, that's peak performance.

His stomach says otherwise. And so he's the one eating more than he should. So perhaps he should worry about his body.

Its noones problem is one is fat. Just leave the person alone. Most of the people dont even care about someones health. They just want to shame someone

Yes, it is. It is not okay to be 350 lbs and an obese manatee. Promote an active, healthy lifestyle.
Cut out the junk, and you might make it 40.

Being fat isn’t ok. You should strive to look ok and feel better. When your fat you have much more problems than a fit person.

Being fat is a direct result of mental health issues- most stages of depression, severe stages of schizophrenia. It is often associated with other addictions- alcohol, drugs, porn, etc that give you a quick dopamine rush.
So even this fellow is mildly sick and needs work. Is it something he can do by himself- most probably, he is still young and self-aware. Do we need society to do something about obesity? Yes, introduce therapy, even psychiatrists for severe cases. Also defund healthcare for those who refuse to deal with the source.
