I can't thank you enough for this video! I thought I had purchased a cylindrical but all information-pictures and videos don't look anything like the one I have. Thanks again for all the information. At least NOW I know what I have and can better take care of it ❤️
I purchased 5 huge one's thought they were cyclindrica but I know know they're Sansevieria Bacularis. I didn't like them at first but I'm so glad they grow straight upward.
Nice potting; nice blue pot! My favorite is all of them!!!
Thank you. Fell in love with a smaller one in a garden centre and I have been winging it since. Ita still doing so so well. But all hints are helpful
Thats a wonderful Sanseveria Bill, and thanks so much for sharing the differences between the bacularis and the cylindrica
I purchased a Sansevieria from Lowes that looks just like this from the discount rack. I will have to look at it and check the new growths to see if they are purplish on the sheath. Always helpful my friend
Fingers crossed you found this one Chris...I like it so much more than the standard cylindrica….with the exception of boncel…. that's a nice compact cylindrica :)
thank you, this was really helpful!
i love how excited you get when talking about your plants! i can totally empathize with you haha
have a good time :)
Thank you :)
Great video 👍 I have to say that Sanseveria hanii moonshine is my absolute favorite!! The silvery foliage just makes it stand out.
Cant help but comment .. this is the first sansivieria bacularis that i got .. and sometimes it isnt that straight like mine and verry small but still beautiful .. verry correct discriptions .. definitely subscribe ..
I just got one of these today! I buy plants I like, bring them home then hit the internet to figure out what the heck I've got and how to keep it alive lol
I have three types of sansevierias, and I plan on having like 10 pots of them in total because they are among the best air purifier plants that you can get. Also, they give you oxygene at night. :) I have the S. trifasciata laurentii (reverting back to non variegated in some cases), S. trifasciata hahnii, and S. Cylindrica. I'd really like to get the S. trifasciata 'Black Coral' and the silvery trifasciata too. :)
I love Sanseveria, I have 17 of them :) but I don't have this one. Very cool! Yes root rot is the #1 concern. I've experienced it once, mildly and was able to save the rest of the plant. I will have to look for this variety. I love climbers and plants with height. I love all plants, indoors and out but adding some with height amongst the rest, gives that architecturral dimension that compliments the other plants. Beautiful pot! Love the deep blue color. Excellent price for glazed terra cotta. My favorite by far. I have 3 large Queen Ann ferns that I am anxious to put back on my deck so that they can rebound from being in my basement. They bounce back nicely every year. I have them near basement windows and keep them moist and misted. They're still nice but once it's warm enough outside they will look nice and lush again. :) I have 97 house plants lol. Great video! I'm in Northeastern Ontario so it's still very cold and we have snow. :)
I don’t know if my sansveria has root rot. Would you be able to share what it looks like? Mine looks like wilted and shruk in the middle od the leaf. :-( i keep it indoors and probably lacks bright light. I water it twice a week.
I don't recall ever seeing this plant before until this Xmas Eve at a grocery store. They had one in a tiny pot about 5" tall. I couldn't resist! Thanks for the tip on this unique plant!
I never really liked the Sansevieria before. Here in S California there are ubiquitous in the landscape of many homes and just seemed too commonplace to me. That was before I realized there are so many varieties! I recently bought a couple bird’s nest type. Then I found one of the tiniest bacularis at Ikea, 2” pot with about a dozen stems from 4 to 6 inches tall. It has some roots but it isn’t rootbound. I’m not sure if it will survive or not but it’s so cute!
Hahahahaha” I have been picked on the face, on the chest...”. What a naughty plant 😂
lol... It's True...lol
💙 Pretty pot! Repotting is fun, I am going to repot my fern soon.
Cool! ferns can be interesting to repot. their root systems can be crazy
Another great video, Bill...thanks!!
Thank you :)
Great video thanks! I just repotted mine too but I took them apart so I can make more, is that ok?
Yes, that will be fine... in time they will send up babies :)
Looks very nice in the blue pot.👍🏼
I love your videos. Where did you get your soil scoop? I have noticed it in other videos. Thanks.
Nice one. Structural without being an obstruction! Gosh, your S. cylindrica has gotten huge. I was gifted an even more awkward Sansevieria , which I believe is S. singularis. It’s similar in size and growth habit to cylindrica but instead of fanning upward and out , it fans sideways and down! I had to pot it in a very wide shallow container which I then placed on a stand. It still pokes me all the time! Another, albeit smaller, awkward one I have is S. parva. It sends out descending runners from the leaf axils a few inches up the stems. Im trying it as a hanging basket. As far as favorites out of my collection, I like the variegated ‘Bantel’s Sensation ‘ and another more recent gift , a large pot of S. masoniana. ~ Llifle.com seems to be the only decent source of information on certain Sansevieria.
Oh! Thank you for opening my eyes to some different varieties... I need to start googling :)
PlantzNThings - For lots of exotic Sansevieria check out channel ‘Cacti, Bulbs and Succulents ‘. He has two videos on his Sansevieria collection. His second channel is ‘Kirkstone Botanica’ . You might enjoy all his post.
PlantzNThings - I forgot to mention.....check out a video on channel CSSA, (the cactus and succulent Society of America), titled ‘Robert Webb, The Genus Sansevieria, CSSA talk 2017’.
Thank's for your explanations. It is a nice sansevieria, and I just have it...😀
Never seen this variety before so cute
I love it... they stand more upright unlike the fan shape of the cylindrica
The tips on my bacularis are turning brown. What is the cause of brown tips? Can I cut off the tips?
Thanks for a video on Sansaveria. It is my favourite plant.
love sanses and I love watching your videos. it gives me more help with my sanses too. great!
Thanks :)
It looks like a hybrid of Sans. fernwood and Sans. cylrindrica. Very cool!
Can we talk about the little bit of browning on the tips? What does that mean?
Hi bill..I was wondering if your plants ever get fungus..I live in Miami Fl and I also HF have th oil se sanseveria..but they have gotten what I think is anthracnose fungus brown circular spots eating into stems???? I'm so upset...using neem oil..but didnt seem to work..drastically cut off all the stems that had brown..ordered some other fungus spray..any advice?
how do you keep the leaves upright? Mine has not been upright since I've repotted it in a bigger pot.
They might need a little help for a bit... put a few bamboo poles in there to keep them upright.... the same thing happened to me after I repotted this one... a few lost their anchor roots i think.... they should firm back up.
You got a Bargain.. the $5 pot ! I've 8 different varieties, Would Love to add a "Cleopatra" if they weren't so $$$$
mine is thriving but is growing like to the side almost like she is doing a split in mid air... is that normal?
Thanks for sharing. My friend gave me this plant and don't it's name.
My anseveria bacularis looks healthy so why stalks do not stand straight just drop, thank you so much
I might have to get one of these. They look cool.
I also have Bacularis but some looks bended and thin and it doesn't look good like the straight ones.
Love and kisses from the Philippines ❤️🇵🇭.
Hi can I transfer my snake plant and bacularis in one pot? ( i prefer to transplant them in rectangle pot)
If thats what you would like to do... sure, why not :)
@@PlantzNThings thanks for the reply sir, 🙂
I really love that plant too..💞😊
What's the composition of that soil?
How is that pretty plant doing now?
I should do an update soon on this one... but its doing well... filling out the pot nicely... hasn't grown all winter... but with spring here and more light it shouldn't be long
Yes mine growing as 5 ft. tall
I thought the indentation is a sign of underwatering.. Because only a few of mine has that.. Others are cylindrical..
New subscriber here.
How on earth did you find this bacularis. I’ve been to all my local nurseries, online shopping and Etsy. But nobody seems to have an actual bacularis, everyone has a fernwood or mikado hybrid and calls it a bacularis. I would do anything for a rooted cutting🥺🙌🏾
I have never seen it since to be honest... I also haven't seen it on any mail order sites. You just need to keep your eyes peeled in groupings of cylindrica... mislabeled plants might be the only way 😞
Its ok if i put inside our house
Yes!
Is it safe to propagate with cuttings? Like when you cut SANSEVIEARIA cylindrica into 3-5 inch pieces put into a soil? Is it safe to do that with BACULARIS type as well??
I'm not sure what you mean by Safe? All Sansevaria should fairly easily be propagated by leaf cuttings.
Can I cut it if its very long
Sure you can... its your plant :) you can then root the cutting in water or soil if you like too...
What is the difference between bacularis and lancia sansevieria?
Good question... i have never heard of the Lancia before. when i googled it it, there wasn't much about it other than some sellers have it... the tell tale sign you have a Bacularis is the purple sheath that the new growth emerges from. and many photos of the "Lancia" had a purple sheath. i have a feeling it's just one of those marketing things and they are all Bacularis.
oh I think I have this plant and I just thought it was a cylindrica
Easily mistaken for sure.
Cousin of cylinderica . Haha 🤣🤣🤣
I have tried to get excited about these plants and I have four different kinds but I’m still neutral
I used to be the same... and sometimes I get bored with them from time to time because they grow so slowly...but they just hide in the background for now until they start growing again...lol There are also a few really pretty varieties available now.... one that is eye catching is 'Whitney'
I have that one and everyone have called it a cylindrica
Very easily mistaken
My bacularis don’t grow
I'm sorry to hear that :(
WHAT HAPPEN TO YOUR PLANT, SORRY TO SAY YOUR PLANT IT'S NOT SO HEALTHY.
