See what I find so beautiful about this scene is how Ukai and Takeda are just softly smiling. As adults they know what it's like to want and train hard for something, only to lose it. Ukai and Takeda kept them together in a safe environment and let them deal with their loss. As a team.
Big props to Coach Ukai here. He genuinely cares for his team. He wants them to be stronger and does not forget the basics for any athlete: having a strong, healthy body.

Yess this is why i have a huge soft spot for tsukki.... i also hate putting my all into things bc if i fail, it'd hurt less.... seeing tsukki grow out of this mentality and grow passionate is how i want to become but so far no luck :(((((
This is why I love Haikyuu so much. Everything these characters do is earned. It is earned and these characters work so hard to get to where they are as a team, not just as individuals.
The first time I've watched this, I cried with them. I am a Taekwondo player and I could feel what they felt. I know the feeling that even if your parents cheer you up, you still end up crying.
For the Inter High, me and my cousin watched Haikyuu together and she rooted for Seijoh while I as usual rooted for Karasuno. So when Seijoh won Inter High, she was happy, then she started crying after seeing this eating scene. That's how impactful this anime is, it really connects the viewers with the characters and you can actually feel what they are feeling despite not really being in their position.
I love that they're all sad and don't feel like eating but then they take that first bite and realize just how hungry they truly were. Then eating as much as they can and getting stronger becomes this act of defiance for them. This is the start of their next tournament run.
So I’m seeing a lot of people saying how Tsuki didn’t care though you can see he was still upset to a degree. At this point he wasn’t as emotional about Volleyball so it probably didn’t sting as much to him as the others but you can see he was still upset.

Tsukki dosn't cry because he felt all these pain when he was younger and afterward he just accepted the reality of defeat and by saying "it's just a club" he decided to not take it seriously so he won't feel that pain again. I think Tsukki loves volleyball more than anyone in the team but he got hurt because of it. Just imagine how life could go hard for you if the thing you love the most hurt you in the worst way. That's why he doesn't want to get involve with volleyball at first like others because he already experienced the brutal pain. He felt the pain before and cried before everyone else so in this scene it's nothing new to him so he is not crying.

I actually lost my basketball game the day this episode came out, as I’m eating dinner the part “eat to get stronger” came up........ Jesus Christ I was having a relatable moment there...i was very tired and when I saw it tears just came out as I started to eat faster
When he blocked Ushijima, it was the moment that made Tsukki actually love volleyball cuz before then he didn't really care and thought it was 'just a club'
After this Hinata bulked up and changed his name to kunigami and started playin football, kageyama also started and tried to implement teamwork as a striker as he used to be an egoist, he then reverted back to his egoist ways and joined a project to become the best striker in the world
