    Love that Boomer Sooner attitude. Nice job mentally pacing yourself on your trek. As you know thru hiking isn’t just a walk down the trail. Too many of the TH-camrs on trail are all rainbows and unicorns and don’t show the challenges of the mind faced.
    You do a great job of sharing the mind management and mental strategy required to accomplish your mission.
    See you down the trail.

    Bug nets are a MUST this time of year in NH/ME. Can't believe you drove all the way from Rangeley to Boston on a holiday weekend! Wow! Sorry our town wasn't the best for weather, we all had a pretty low key 4th. The Commons are so pretty when it's nice out, did you get see the Duckling statues? They're usually in some time of attire depending on the sports/holiday season. So glad you got to see Boston, a gorgeous & fun city! Nice you got to see it with your Dad.

      Were the fireworks at the Common for just this year ? I usually come to Boston for the day just to take pictures of them at the Charles River Basin (Cambridge side). BEST fireworks in Northern New England. Love the pics with the reflection in the river. Hope this was just a weird year to keep the crowds down and it goes back to normal next year. ????

    I've ben enjoying watching your journey since way back before the Smokies! I just saw you in Beats video (when he had to stop with the broken hand). I had gotten out and hiked 2 days with him in VT. Very cool I got to see both of you in the same video! You're almost there, enjoy the slower days and the rest of your journey!

    those bug bites must be the worst. great balance on that bog walkway. You have an interesting no-nonsense way of assessing things around you, then looking straight ahead with your "that's the way it is" decision.

    Ok so I was in Boston on July 5th headed to The Friendly Toast for breakfast and walked past someone that I did a double take of and said “No, can’t be her, she’s on the ATC.” Could it have been….

    Pretty awesome update the driving on 95 is a nightmare around any holiday, but you were going the opposite direction. Everyone heads to Maine and NH on long weekends. Or the Cape. These past 7 days are a wash. You might have to hike with a PFD and lifeboat. Hope all is good.🌲👍

      Weather has sucked for those climbing Franconia Ridge and Mt. Washington. Hope they get some views. Ali got a view finally on Franconia Ridge. I always hope for the best weather for thru hikers. Maine has some good views too. Both states are extremely pretty.

    Ha ha ha ! Big misconception about Maine and NH. People think it's cooler up here in the summer but that's not true for the whole summer. We have 4 or 5 heatwaves (temps over 90 for three days or more) every summer. I think we've already had 3 this year. June was a hot month. The first heatwave came early. Then it cooled (around Memorial Day) to very cold (40's daytime) and it's been overcast, rainy, and cooler since with sporadic hot days. Strange weather this year. Temps rising again later this week. I can tell when a thru hiker is at certain points (and how delayed their videos are) by the weather they are experiencing.

    16:00 I wondered where you were. That looked like 95 and I know that it's nowhere near Rangeley, Maine. Then you said you were going to Boston for the 4th.

    • @djg5950
      @djg5950 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fireworks in Boston sucked this year. It rained the whole day and they had them at the Common instead of the usual spot at the Charles River Basin. I've gone to Boston for many years for the fireworks (I take pictures and video them) but didn't go in 2019, 2020 (Covid) nor this year (good thing, I would have been disappointed). I skipped 2019 because the 4th is notoriously a hot day (always in the 90's) and I was sick of waiting all day in the heat - every year. Cancelled last year and changed this year to the Commons (not sure why, maybe to keep the crowd down). This year it rained and temps were cooler for once. Boston has the BEST fireworks display in the whole area and when in the Charles River Basin they have ground displays on separate barges and you can catch the reflection of them in the water. Great for taking fireworks photos. FYI for anyone who likes taking fireworks images.

    Eat two garlic toes and drink two vodka in the evening and nasty creatures will leave you alone the following day.
