October Backpacking - 3 Days & 38.5 miles on the TCT
Every October my mother and I take a birthday trip, this year on Halloween we decided to ferry from Long Beach California to Avalon to start the Trans Catalina Trail. We walked 38.5 miles in less than 3 full days.
What a blast. Mountains, ocean, animals and more. This was also my moms first backpacking trip where she bought and carried all her own gear. I think it’s safe to say she’s a thru hiker now.
If you watch this; thanks! I always love sharing these adventures with you all!

SOLO Backpacking 41 miles around MT HOOD - 3 days in OREGON on the TIMBERLINE TRAIL
มุมมอง 8K2 ปีที่แล้ว
3 day last minute trip to Oregon put got on the Timberline Trail! Started strong and ended with ligament damage to my left ankle, but in all I have to recommend this as a short trip for anyone looking to get out there! Especially if you’re interested in something solo! I used FarOut and AllTrails Pro for navigation. The fires in Oregon have been terrible and the PCT is experiencing closures so ...
Summiting Mt. Whitney in June - Overnight from Whitney Portal
มุมมอง 19K2 ปีที่แล้ว
I summited Mt. Whitney for the second time only 8 months after my first summit. The difference in weather from October to June was so surprising! We stayed at trail camp about 6 miles in and overnight the weather took a turn. There was wind, freezing temps, and surprisingly snow in June. All that aside, I was once again amazed by the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. Join me and my friend Jessica a...
Hiking Mt. Whitney - The tallest mountain in the contiguous 48 and my first 14’er
มุมมอง 1.8K3 ปีที่แล้ว
What an incredible week hiking a section of the John Muir/PCT. I visited Death Valley, traveled to the lowest point in North America at 282 ft below sea level, and hiked a 50 mile section of trail through the Sierra Nevada. I loved the laughs and struggled to edit the 3 hours of footage from this week down to 40 minutes. I hope you feel inspired to go visit these places. They are amazing.

i can only imagine getting to the top of the mtn n yelling im the king of the world!!!!!!
That hat with Whitney behind it in the morning light, CRAZY!
Very witty and entertaining! Thanks for doing this video
You hauled a$$ on day 2!
Great video. So sorry about your injury. Oregon is so amazing. Hoping to do this trail in September.
Just finished this loop last weekend. Incredible loop.
What kind of chick hikes alone and films it? I see too many of these types running dangerously amuck in National Parks, and FILMING it
A little late to the party, but that was the top of Mt Jefferson you saw through the smoke on your first day!
You didnt do any planning?
Do you pack a backpack within a backpack? I noticed you pack changed after the first night.
Just watched this series for the second time.. the first was when you released and now as i plan my nobo next year… I think I’m going to borrow ‘ONE MORE MILE!!!!!’ Thanks for sharing your journey in a very honest way!
Awesome job topping out on Mt Whitney!!! That wind was no match for the 2 of you!
I loved having the airport restaurant and prepped food at two harbors to bring to camp. I walked into Parsons with a whole pizza lol. You definitely showed how to do TCT right. I am hoping to do a dock to dock run soon, jump off the early boat and run to two harbors and jump on the late boat.
Lucky you got a permit. I gave up for here and out of Yosemite for starting the JMT nobo from the south.
Ali - what time of year did you hike Timberline? Looks like maybe late August.....But i'd love to know!
Lmk if you want to climb the east face pretty chill time great experience. Also check out bishop next its only a little north!
Thanks for your video, I'm planning on trying Again. I Made it in 1992. I Only had a Camera (35mm)
Thank you for posting a winter hike of Charon's Garden! I'm thinking about heading over for an overnighter, but I wasn't sure it would be pretty in these OK winters, and nearly everyone else has posted only from Summer hikes there. Rocks are still gorgeous when the temps are low, though!
You're very pretty and nice to look at, but I'd prefer a bit less face time and more trail footage. You can talk while showing us the trail.
You're cute. ;)
I didn't see you sign the book. I feel cheated.
We love mt hood
The berries you ate are huckleberry, same family as blue berries. The little puffy guys you saw are the seeds of Pascal Flower, anemone family. The flowers are the 1st to come out after the snow melt, once they turn into seeds, people call them 'old man of the mountain " because they look like old bearded gnomes. 😊
I don't know HOW you did this...without sun glasses , especially up top with all that white granite ! One helluva good job , girl !
Super cool video!!! Nuthin’ but a G thang! Love it!!!
I really enjoyed your video! Hopefully a year later your ankle is 100%!
Unfortunately you passed up the most beautiful waterfall on the hike Ramona falls it can be done as a day hike. I am guessing you did it at the end of August there was a fire in the area too bad you missed a lot of the good views of the hood summit. Such a beautiful backpacking trip I have done it twice now.
Great video. I enjoyed it because of your commentary, capturing the views as well as the journey. I’ve done Timberline Trail many times in the past and your video brought back wonderful memories. Sorry to see the ankle injury, that did look painful. You are amazing for powering through.
What an awesome adventure, minus the ankle injury.
I have hiked Mt. Whitney 3 times. I'm 75 now but had my 60th b/day on Sept. 16. That is when I have moved to Oregon when I was thirty. I loved all my trips to Whitney. I lived in Redondo Beach Ca. Funny isn't it. I move to Oregon and I still love hiking The High Sierra. I love Calif. Houses were to expensive. I have a wonderful home but miss The Sierra Nevada. and The Owens Valley. Best place on earth. Happy hiking and I will see you down the trail. Kevin.
MAGA 2024!
Now you you need to do the Wonderland Trail around Rainier.
Jefferson
Hi! What was the weight of your pack? It's so I can get an idea. Oh and glad you made it ok on the trail.
Your hella cute ! 🍻
Amazing! I want to do this.
Hi Ali. I'm looking for info for a good first thru-hike, well done video... good job gutting out the ankle injury, hope you had Advil!... as you say, "A body in motion stays in motion." Timberline Trail or Tahoe Trail look perfect for my first hike this coming October. A question: You said "Thru hiking ruined my life"... that's serious drama... can you share a bit?
The flowers are the Western Pasqueflower. These are seen in seed, here. 28:40
Hello, maybe you can help me. when it comes to a day permit vs overnight im not sure which to choose. How far up is the campground from trailhead?
Great video. Has anyone heard of folks summiting this summer? How are conditions up there? I know y'all got a ton of snow...
I’m planning this hike in a couple months. Love your videos..
Summited a few days later on the 23rd. It was colder/windier/sleet-ier; saw the weather forecast, but had to go then or never. Took a nap in the hut, similar huddled mass in the same middle room, because the other two were filled with waist-high snow. So cold, barely took one photo. ...good-times.
you still live ibn Oklahoma or did you move to california?
need another video
any new hikes?
Hi, i probably won't do the whole hike, will be doing other things while visiting, but what month did you hike the trail. I'll be there in mid June
You should do a video on what equipment that you use.
What are the dates for this hike that you finished? I’m looking at Memorial Day weekend.
great video! thanks
Hi, Ali when is your next hiking I’m joining with you I’m Johnny I like your video.
