The berries you ate are huckleberry, same family as blue berries. The little puffy guys you saw are the seeds of Pascal Flower, anemone family. The flowers are the 1st to come out after the snow melt, once they turn into seeds, people call them 'old man of the mountain " because they look like old bearded gnomes. 😊
Oregon is an all-time favorite place on planet Earth. So diverse, full of amazing and kind people that I have not found anywhere else. True lovers of nature. Ohh, how much I miss Oregon. As the days and weeks are getting more stressful, your video reminded me of what's truly important in life and I thank you for that, because that's exactly what I needed in moments like these. Thank you again and wishing you the best on your adventures.
I thought your trip was done when you sprained your ankle, great that you managed to continue! I don’t know if you did, but get that ankle in cold water as soon as possible if it happens again. Great video Ali :)
Great video. I enjoyed it because of your commentary, capturing the views as well as the journey. I’ve done Timberline Trail many times in the past and your video brought back wonderful memories. Sorry to see the ankle injury, that did look painful. You are amazing for powering through.
Hey Ali! Thanks for sharing your trip. I miss having your regular videos from the AT. You did such a good job with those. Best of luck in all you do and I hope the ankle is better.
Unfortunately you passed up the most beautiful waterfall on the hike Ramona falls it can be done as a day hike. I am guessing you did it at the end of August there was a fire in the area too bad you missed a lot of the good views of the hood summit. Such a beautiful backpacking trip I have done it twice now.
Hey this is Dan I camped next to you at the sandy river on your first night out on the timberline trail- awesome channel I’ve watched a few of your videos can’t believe you’ve hiked some of the hikes you’ve done! I ended up finishing the trail in four days but made it! Sorry you hurt your ankle crazy you kept on and still did it at such a pace - keep doin what your doin !
This is a really good example of the sort of situations you can inadvertently get yourself I even if your well equipped knowledgeable and experienced my wife turned an ankle on the coast to coast in the UK We got helped out by this this old boy who’d been a US paratrooper during WWII !!! ( this happened in the early nineties) He used an army bandanna to wrap around Kaths ankle which worked really well to stop it jiggling about and helped carry on
Dont laugh but I rely on my training in the Boy Scouts, not so much because it was me, but the fact my Scout Master was a Green Beret in Vietnam and he trained all the scouts in our troop well!!!
Awesome! This is only an hour from my house and I hike it every year switching up the direction CW is my fav though - also just got back from a last minute overnight trip at Paradise Park so great timing on this video! Too bad about the haze from the fires and the injury but hope you still enjoyed what you could. Sprained ankles are no joke.
I hope your ankle is OK! Please get it checked out as soon as you can. I wrecked mine on the AT last July - got in another forty miles until I couldn't take it anymore. Two surgeries later, I'm still waiting to hit the trails again. But hit them I will!
Hi Ali. I'm looking for info for a good first thru-hike, well done video... good job gutting out the ankle injury, hope you had Advil!... as you say, "A body in motion stays in motion." Timberline Trail or Tahoe Trail look perfect for my first hike this coming October. A question: You said "Thru hiking ruined my life"... that's serious drama... can you share a bit?

A little late to the party, but that was the top of Mt Jefferson you saw through the smoke on your first day!
Now you you need to do the Wonderland Trail around Rainier.
You should do a video on what equipment that you use.
Hi, i probably won't do the whole hike, will be doing other things while visiting, but what month did you hike the trail. I'll be there in mid June
