For a mid player you have Rapids, for a Splattershot you have the TTek, but the TTek is declining in popularity due to the Enperry dualies. (About 45% of games had a TTek, about 50% had a Enperry Dualies)
I actually really like the splattershot jr because it has good turf coverage and I like the subs and the specials, I hate the other splattershot though, and I haven't used the pro much, but I like don't mind it either
The new ink tank on the juniors give you more ink capacity. If you use the custom you can actually throw two autobombs. I suggest throwing two autobombs use your speacial and then two more.
