Seve was just so good. He was a golfer in every respect. He just had that it factor just like Arnold Palmer did. So athletic, so talented, and so charismatic. There will never be another Seve Ballesteros. RIP, great man. I’m glad that I got to watch you play golf in your prime like you were here. I just can’t believe you are gone.
Mate and his pal were following Seve as where 90%. Of course mate had his dog with him (on a lead) a big full breed German Shepard, they were both around 13 at the time. So as they were following Seve they noticed he was glancing over at them. Got to the 12th, Seve tee'd off then came over and said "nice dog eh", and proceeded to have a chat about how old he was and explain that his cousin in Spain breeds dogs and how well behaved a dog he was. Gent seve, peoples champion.
I was told that at one hole during this match, Nicklaus hit his ball into deep rough, and everyone was rooting around trying to find it. Eventually a spectator shouted from some distance away "I got it!". So Nicklaus and everyone else walked on up and as Nicklaus approached him the guy said "Top Flite?". I believe the look Nicklaus gave him was something quite special!
They were using old Persimmon woods. They were carved from one piece of wood and sounded pure, but didn't go as far as metal woods. I played with a Persimmon driver in the late 80s early 90s.
the key to jack's success later on in his career was down to the way he worked his legs just before he took the club back. it helped him to get the club to swing back on the inside and it helped him to turn.
That and the fact he got more pars than anyone else, hence his 18 majors that nobody will ever beat and it could have been 30-40 majors the amount of times he was 2nd and 3rd!
@HabloIrlandes agree, true gent, when i was 13 at the 89 ryder cup me and a few mates were sitting in the practise bunker by the range and he came over , instead of telling us off he let us sit there 2 feet from him and watch him hit bunker shots for 20 minutes, seve will always be my hero.
Because people try and fill an emotional void in their lives with an animal. And yes, they sometimes begin to think of the dog as a person or even a family member. It's quite absurd.

I saw him 😞😞
Two of the golfing gods together with Seve in his prime. Golden era of golf never to be repeated.
Still cant believe hes gone, what a great loss.
I can't believe they placed his ashes under a tree!! Get out of that!
@@Hicks055 Legend says his ashes drifted in the air to the green and no sit in the hole.
My goodness they have beautiful swings. I get that these are two of the best players ever, but it is just awesome to watch...

Great story,....thank you for re-telling it.

hahahahaha
40ny don’t get it
I don't know which brand of balls Jack used but it wouldn't be Top Flite. Kind of known as a bargain brand.
@@daveg6839 McGregor which also were terrible balls. But McGregor paid him a lot.
@@Me-ji2pn Top Flite's were basically golf ball shaped rocks that amateurs played with. Nicklaus probably was using a Titleist Balata.
Loved watching Seve!
I loved golf back in the 70s and 80s. Everything was very cordial.
Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson....two of the most 'cordial' men that ever existed. Seve was fiery and passionate.
@Dreama40
The full exhibition match has now been uploaded to my channel.
Where is it
Wow...the sound of the strike from both of their shots is just pure.

Brilliant !! Love it, Seve could be so droll and funny.. thank you again
Man i wish i could the rest of the coverage, it would be fantastic!
I've seen it. It's on You Tube somewhere. Spoiler...I think Seve just 'nicks' it in the end.

@@beefchops1400 yes, and there is one thing we can all learn from Jack: don't ground your club with the driver; especially now with modern day clubs.
For real
Seve lost his swing and never fully came back.Must have been very difficult for such a proud man
Cold blooded competitor, the Spaniard!

Would pay any amount of money for my Dad and I to join up with these two as a foursome at any point in their lives! 100% class.
Wow. Pro am. Holy ff
Question:
Why on earth would you take a dog to a golf tournament?
Because people try and fill an emotional void in their lives with an animal. And yes, they sometimes begin to think of the dog as a person or even a family member. It's quite absurd.
Unless you have fucked an animal before you have no idea what your talking about.
Classic
When does Seve bring out the fruit cake?
That's MUCH later on in his career.
Is this lytham
Portmarnock, outside Dublin. One of the snootiest golf clubs in Ireland
Please learn English Sevefan. Correctly stated would say "there's"
Maybe English isn't their native language?
You obviously do not know that you need a full stop at the end of your sentence. Please learn English.
