    RIP Seve ... such charisma! A talented golfer who was adored around the world and certainly here in the UK.. not many foreign nationals leave their mark with the British people, only the very special ones do and Seve was certainly that. My dad's favourite golfer of all time (rip dad) 🙏

    I always get emotional when I see videos of the grand senior, Seve. He’s my sporting idol. The way he played golf with that cavalier attitude is why everyone loved him. He was so wayward at times but still won tournaments, including majors, because he went for it. His short game was the best ever imo, including Phil. As Nick Price said, most pros have 100 ways to shoot 68. Seve had 1000 ways. His depth of skill was unmatched when he was in his pomp. That win at the 89 open-his final round was the best his great rival Faldo ever saw apparently. Not to mention his match play dominance at Wentworth and The Ryder Cup. He was amazing and when I have a club in my hand he always pops in my head. Via con Dios Seve

    Still my sporting idol along with Johan Cruyff the football player. I was lucky enough to watch Seve play from very close by during an exhibition match at golfclub De Pan in The Netherlands. I'll never forget the way he hit his short irons and wedge shots. Pure magic, grace and beauty.

    I was there as a kid with number 5, standing right in line as he played the ball between the bunkers at Birkdale. Great memories. Ballesteros and Trevino - who won The Open at Birkdale were always my golfing heroes. Still are tbf.

    I remember him in... 1976, at Waterloo. He just was 19 and already had such a charism! Among other things, he played so *original* shots, recovering from incredible situations that he obviously lifted crowds.

  • @John64125
    @John64125 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What I miss about that era was that it emphasised creativity. The variety of shots Seve played, especially round the green made us all try the unusual shots we wouldn’t have dreamt of. For many it wasn’t the best way to a low score because we didn’t have his skill but it brought a new dynamic to the game. I still love the short game most of all and it’s all down to Seve. A hero to many of us.

    • @DMR4736
      @DMR4736 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Steve Smith It was a great birdie by Seve at 18. Watson's made bogey at the road hole, playing a hole behind Seve. When Seve holed the putt, Watson knew it was over falling two back. Certainly a great finish. It would have been Watsons third straight Open

    In 1984 he hit a 3 iron at the par 5 6th, I think, off a very tight downhill lie onto the green. Lee Trevino called out "Touch of class baby"
    It's one of the greatest shots you could ever see

    I think the chip on 18 to win the 88 Open was by far his best shot, noting the difficulty of the shot and the execution under max pressure.

    I remember seeing him at the Scottish Open in the 80s I believe he had done a deal with an aftershave brand it was about to launch ( I won’t name it ) Seve must have bathed in the stuff you could smell him all over the course. What a healthy looking man he was such a tragedy he passed away so young.
