Your Starter building was created by tiny swarms of Zerglings rushing the map. If your computer is less powerful, it can’t creat as many Zerglings, so building construction takes longer. This happens with all 3 races, believe it or not.

Well the depot is obviously constructed by a scv. In the campaign you really have the Hyperion in orbit which drops the improved depots and in Coop Raynor can even call it down to the stratosphere. And the mules could be in the commandship-battlecruiser that also drops the command center at the beginning of the game and the orbital command only confirms the location where to drop the M.U.L.E. And why they run out: The M.U.L.E. is a cunstruction unit prototype which is not finished and eventually overheats or something and explodes.
Oduni well, no such battlecruiser exists in the history of Starcraft. Also, why are they limited by the energy from the orbital? Why is their advanced tech limited by the realistically minimal energy required to send a message to space?
There is an orbital station circling around the planet. You build orbital center to send a signal to those stations and they deliver you some supplies and extra minerals(mules) and can scan for you. Each orbital can send a signal up to 4 times and it has a cool down so the more orbital centers you have the more signals you can send to the stations.

think of it where theres a skirmish much higher happening and command centers are asking for help. since the army actually needs all its ships it sends whatever it has to help. The scan is a ship taking time to scan a specific place. the mule is a prototype of an automated scv on overdrive that is unstable and thus breaks after a while. sending the mule is also part of ''we need help gathering stuff here''
Terrans have a Planetary Entry Vehicle stocked with autonomous vehicles that keep the PEV intact in orbit and limited structures that house components necessary to support life on another planet. They only drop when its needed(I.E. a threat on the surface) MULES are equipped with a battery pack suited for a limited time on the surface before they disintegrate due to their materials.
@Lowko that question is easy, mules come from a battlecruiser command ship where the player is stationed as the one watching from above like a satelite, same goes from protoss warp ins, they're from a mothership above like in LotV as they are not warped in from the home world as it's too far although it is possible but it's more logical as seen in the beginning of LotV, as for zerg they're on a leviathan as is in HotS. It is also one of the reasons why you can oversee the map but with fog, dunno the logic on that one though.
The Dominion deployed the MULES to gather resources from asteroides as a cheap and effective way to obtain minerals. So there are mules scatter across all systems. They gather the materials and put them in containers (like the ones you can pick up on the story mission), a transport ship will pick the mineral containers and take them back to the dominion. You are able to call the MULES once you have the Orbital command center you have satellite access to hack MULES from nearby asteroids and use them, that is why they cost energy in order to hack them.
I think they are called from somewhere far out in Space, so the signal needs a lot of energy. And they only have a limited amount of energy and durability for their high Power mining drills...
Hyperion, Space orbital Ptatform, They travel from another planet. Whichever of these, it does not matter, they are constructed above the atmosphere, then they have to travel like a space shuttle or a rocket through the atmosphere. Becouse of traveling through atmosphere ( without shields ), they reach critical state and hence can only live for a short period of time . There is no repair facility to repair them on the ground, but since their expence is covered by the ammount of resources they get before they die it is cheaper to keep making them especially when the time resource during battle is far more valuable. Mules are using technology of Protoss to warp in, but they warp only on orbit right now, because Terran tech is not so advanced. And they are using special fuel for that with is kinda hard to get, also drooping form orbit dmg them a little ( all of that makes.. why they limits for working, Fuel, dmg, space travel). :D

Mules are shot into the atmosphere from command. And sent down when required.they orbit like satellites. They get.damaged in transit landing etc. And threwn together quickly from mostly spare parts. SO don't have good longtivity.
(Sorry for my bad written english) MULES are mining drones, to mine from asteroids in space. They are stationed on orbital support platforms in the planets orbit. Even if the space station gets destroid they can stay idle in orbit infinite. When they get called to help on the planet, they can't handle the atmosphere. While entering they lose some shielding and start overheating (friction with air) and oxidising (rusting) in conact with air. So after working for some time they break apart.
Mules undoubtedly wait inboard battlecruisers or other larger Terran space fairing vessels. These ships often times cannot fire upon surface level targets for many reasons (atmospheric conditions, preserving ground level structures, cost of weapons/ammunition, etc.) thus ground forces are used instead. Additionally, ground forces enable the Terran commander to hold ground ideally after a sizable orbital bombardment. Also, firing accurately and coordinating orbital drops can be very risky and inaccurate, hence the necessity of an orbital command and the accompanying planetary defense force, and or, planetary fortresses.
If you want a fluffy reason where the drops come from, it's from the orbital presence of the species. And the reason why the battleships don't drop down is because they are in a 4D chess game with the fleets of the other race. With anyone dropping down would mean losing the space battle.
As a Terran Technician, I can say that your standard Battlecruiser takes a year, 5 months, 14 days, and around 23 hours to complete. Don't get me started on if we have to install cup holders.
The Hyperion send supply packages and optional mules into orbit along with the first command center... the Orbital allows the communication to call them down and the mules simply run out of energy after some time and they're designed to be disposable thats my take on it 🙌

Its probably that somewhere on some terran world there were a lot of used up miners that are better at mining than SCVs, and are no longer needed, so some of them get teleported to where they could be of use. Since they have already worked a lot and probably were just laying around without proper care, they just break after they get turned on and work a bit.

Maybe there's a tactical orbital platform that holds the MULEs and supply depot enhancements that also serves as the TACCOM (tactical command) for the Terran forces... I.E. the MULEs and all come from where you are, as the supreme Terran commander, located.

Mules could have come from a space station from orbit that trades in minerals for cash in investment. It could be operated by an independent company that does not want to interfere with whatever's happening on the battlefield and would just want minerals. Hell, that company can even supply mules to both sides in a TvT if they want to.
Around 12:00 they were the same supply, but a 20 worker lead to terran. I haven't seen the end of the game but I'm pretty sure I know who's going to win.

As a Protoss player, that was just sad to watch. He held off the strange opener from T, but then sat back and did nothing. At the very least, get those observers out and scout. Information is power.If he had killed that 3rd base before it got going he would have been fine.
If you ask yourself where mules come from, answer the following question: "Where do protoss buildings come from?" If you can answer that, mules become elementary.
@@Wibdrac Ahh, you think so? But, in both SC1 and SC2 campaign, Protoss loose their planets and still warp. Remember? In SC1 the player controlled Protoss rebel against the Khala. In SC2 the whole Khala gets corrupted and only the Protoss on the Spear of Adun can be trusted. Still, they warp.
@@oldoneeye7516 m8, they are interstellar, that building can be from anywhere. As for as I can see, Auir was not destroyed, but repurposed by the zerg. Many of its 'hidden' structure lies intact. And even if it isn't, i'm pretty sure they can just warp those to somewhere else, like a dead world to 'store' them for later use.
Mules and supply depots are satellites. The mules have a limited battery life and That’s why they have a time limit. Supply depots are more consistent because they are connected to a building that has electricity already. My theory anyways.

Mules come from the Secret Mule Level. The Mule King expels the old ones and that's why they dismantle when they run out of juice.

mules come from orbiting stations that send down supplies as they are powered by energy gathered by the command center.
Mules come from orbiting Science Vessels. They're used to gather samples FOR SCIENCE but get repurposed for military reasons in times of conflict.
Love that terran's strategy, play sim city until the 12th minute mark, then BattleCruiser switch !

ORBITAL command: mules come from ORBIT
Well yeah, according to the lore, they do both come from the Hyperion. Why the Hyperion isn't gunning down the protoss is because it's in high orbit and not in atmosphere.

mules and supply come from orbiting supply factory ships, not the hyperion which is a battleship and uses supply rather than providing it.

As a Protoss player, that was just sad to watch. He held off the strange opener from T, but then sat back and did nothing. At the very least, get those observers out and scout. Information is power.If he had killed that 3rd base before it got going he would have been fine.
If you ask yourself where mules come from, answer the following question: "Where do protoss buildings come from?" If you can answer that, mules become elementary.
That one is easy. Protoss warp them like everything from other planet where they have been built.

@@Wibdrac Ahh, you think so? But, in both SC1 and SC2 campaign, Protoss loose their planets and still warp.
Remember? In SC1 the player controlled Protoss rebel against the Khala.
In SC2 the whole Khala gets corrupted and only the Protoss on the Spear of Adun can be trusted.
Still, they warp.
@@oldoneeye7516 m8, they are interstellar, that building can be from anywhere. As for as I can see, Auir was not destroyed, but repurposed by the zerg. Many of its 'hidden' structure lies intact. And even if it isn't, i'm pretty sure they can just warp those to somewhere else, like a dead world to 'store' them for later use.
Old Oneeye They have a lot of world under their own. Their main planet are lost but they keep colonies
mules are producing on the satellites(same as bonus depos) then they are dropped as they are ready
that's why cd and no Hyperion needed :D

Mules and supply depots are satellites. The mules have a limited battery life and That’s why they have a time limit. Supply depots are more consistent because they are connected to a building that has electricity already.
My theory anyways.
When two scvs love each other verry much and are both carriers for some awefull terminal disease a mule is created.
10:35 If the Hyperion swooped down to take out this one protoss player, you'd have hundreds of other terrain players without MULEs, scans, and doubled supply depots for minutes.
