RIP Mike Gibb, sorely missed - this was a dream I shared with Mike and we often discussed these the MH Armoured cars. I am so happy that he made this incredible effort to preserve this iconic South African contribution to the war effort in WW11. I have met descendants while working in the Danakil of Italian askaris from Ethiopia/ Eritrea whose grandfathers fought against the Union Defence Force in Eritrea who recounted to me the unique noise and terrifying impact which a formation of these armoured cars made when their grandfathers were fighting them. The memory of these cars remained in the popular consciousness of the Afar people who served against them.
It is good to see Hilary Doyle still going strong. It must be about 55 years since I and my Dad bought our first Bellona titles by him. I have gone from secondary school to past retirement with his books always on my shelves. Please convey to him my thanks for the pleasure his work has given to me and others down the years.
As it also pertains to Africa-built armoured cars, I thought I would repeat my unanswered question from two months ago: "I don't suppose the Weald Foundation has found any material on the 35+ armoured cars built in Sudan for the Sudan Defence Force in the late 1930s and others built there during WWII? They served with some effect in the East African Campaign and even made an appearance in Libya supporting the LRDG. Bovington appears to have nothing. Given that they are essentially part of British armoured history, the lack of information on them is a little surprising. Any ideas?

RIP Mike Gibb. Hopefully your legacy will continue.
The Weald Foundation being a Centre of Excellence is somewhat of an understatement. Fantastic work done by you folks, as always.
The Weald Foundation is so much up it's own arse that they can no longer see daylight. I desperately hope my tax money isn't funding the buggers.
God bless the English for their fervent study of military history.
