I discovered this piece a few days ago, and I thought that the BPM was 100, but I listened to it later that day and found out it was 160. I love conducting this piece, and it sounds absolutely gorgeous!
If you have a med to large section, take the high parts down the octave when in rehearsal. Then practice the parts as written in your own time or get help from a teacher if you have one. So gradually you are able to play them in rehearsal
If anybody sight read this really good, I'm giving you a gold star. Because I didn't sightread this well at all (well, sort of. I got most of the notes). XD
Because it makes the piece sound really good. It makes sense not doing it for the brass because we get melody a lot and Trombones won't be able to do that, No one cares about the euphoniums, Tubas get bass parts, Trumpets and Horn get melody mostly.
The 8th and 16th runs in this piece are used as a “flourish” effect, so to speak, for the style and tone of the piece, and the woodwinds need to be able to blend well. For the grade of this piece, most of the woodwind demographic that this piece is aimed towards wouldn’t be able to tongue straight through the passages, while being technically proficient and cohesive, while blending with one another. It would be chaotic and a hassle. Not saying it’s not possible, it certainly is, but contextual with the style of the piece and it’s grade level, it’s written as it should be, in my opinion.

Tell me you are a band kid without telling me you are a band kid.
I will go first, that taste of a new reed is always present the first day.

As a trombone player I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about
“I wish my violin was as good as first chairs’”
Ahh I play flute and this is so hard for me to play! Especially the high A flat in the slurred scales!
Oh how you doing now? I also play flute and want to play this

Where's the passion from 41-73?? such a good piece but this recording is lacking in my opinion :(
I actually think the horns bring a lot of passion with the counter melodies from the trumpets and woodwinds. It's supposed to be a calmer section :)
