Not always. I bought an Evanescence CD years back when they had reasonable popularity here in the UK, and it had a live performance on it. The singing was horrendous.

even with the mistakes on this specific performance (which is in the middle of a very long setlist of hard songs) her voice and technique improved incredibly and her voice matured over the years. Amy's voice is best at her highs than at her mids.
