That turned out really good and there is no shortage of coffee grounds in this house so I think I might try it. I lauged when I heard your little one say, "What's that?" when you first put it in the bowl, haha .You should have said, "Dessert!"
I like how this came out!! I have tried tea dying, I basically put leftover tea bags from when I make sweet tea on the fabric and then scrunch it up and let it sit for a bit. It turns out pretty good. Fun stuff!
This looks so fun, like finger painting! I loved the quiet "what's that?" after you soaked the Aida. Like, Mom, what are you doing. Mom, what IS that. MOOOOOOOM.
So.....that fabric looks exactly like Old Salem linen from The Primitive Hare. The fabric that I waited for like, two months to get, and reeked of coffee when I opened the package! I think it turned out great :) I have heard that tea dyes fade over time, but that coffee lasts better. I have no idea if that is actually true or not.
I am loving your adventures in SCIENCE! Love the coffee dyed piece - agree that it looks just like the Old Salem Linen that I got to do my Red Riding Hood Primitive design on!
Pretty! Thanks for sharing. I like the more subtle ones, too. I may have to just try this. I see you have a little Pyrex bowl next to your stove. May I guess salt? That's what I use mine for. Looking forward to the wine.
Loved watching this and your tea experiments! Lol - you made me laugh when you said you wouldn't be using bbq sauce....which then made me wonder what else we could use to dye! Maybe sodas??? (grape, orange?) Anyway, thanks for sharing!
+Bright Stitcher Oh. My. God. I totally have some crappy wine in the basement that I think I must've been drunk when I bought! (Wine tastings... at the end of the day you just buy whatever is in front of you. HAHA!) GREAT IDEA - and coming soon! AHHHHH! EXCITING!!!!
For SCIENCE! Seriously, what this video needs is more Beetlegeuse references. I'm gonna need you to work on that. But for realz tho, how does it SMELL? I bet it smells amazing. Or did putting it in the dryer make any coffee smell dissipate?
Suggestion?? Maybe it would behove you to not place coffee grounds directly on ur material. As apposed to saturate the material in coffee/tea/ water mixture than u could rinse out the material if u so desire

Great job! I think your coffee dyed fabric looks fabulous.

I knew you would like that experiment ! Next time I'm going to use the grounds, and I never thought of putting it in the oven! ☺️

I just google searched DIY old salem linen and this video popped up because of your comment! I'm about to make some "old salem linen" right now!
Loved the 'what's that' comment from your kid!
I wonder how beetroot juice would work - guaranteed to permanently stain my clothes if I splash it
I love the coffee dyed fabric ! Hey I think bbq sauce might make a good science experiment ha ha

Love how the fabric turned out!
you need heat to set a dye so putting it in the microwave or in a pot on the stove on a low simmer will work and u need an acid
Defo think the coffee one came out best. I did roll my eyes when you said you were going to put it in the oven, after the last time lol lol
I love watching you make science! What about dying it with red wine? Or grape juice?

+Trisha @ Three Owl Threads LLC DO IT!!!
I wonder how the powder Easter egg dye sprinkle ...then misted with vinegar from a spray bottle would work🙈
glad you tried the Easter egg dye.. did you use the tablets dyes?
I am so (for science) staining Aida with a food product!
